  1. Does referring to ourselves as "Sharders" make anyone want to ask the question... Who Sharded? Sorry I think about it like every day, couldn't resist.
  2. I'm very anxious about how much crap an un-haloed Andross Guile is going to kick up.
  3. Official time is up and it's 48 hrs 30 min . You guys, I'm starting to think this Peter guy on the forums in in the know.
  4. BF, you're my BFF. This is what I will do now. Thank you for suggesting this. You are my infamous GANCHO OF THE WEEK! (Also the first, but don't worry there will be others)
  5. Hahaha , yeah. "I said no more lies, what is wrong with you!?" "Let me show you brightness"... Cue video flashback.
  6. This thing, is perfect fit for me!
  7. Yeah, it's technically a short story published by tor.com. Brandon said it's even Hugo nom eligible technically.
  8. It's interesting that the identification of the surge needed to be further distinguished from "Pressure" to "Atmospheric Pressure". As an Engineer I think the distinction is unnecessary as pressure is pressure. I think more specifically they are talking about air pressure (the force which makes Rock call everyone else Airsick lowlanders) to make it easier for most people to conceptualize. Because they've made the distinction I think we've seen all of the surges, we just have yet to see the lengths and creativity to which Kaladin can elevate it. I'd love to see more but I'm assuming the full lashing is caused by a vaccum between objects and the spren are just bondspren attracted to the bond (Though this is a conversation Syl has with Kaladin in WoK, are the spren attracted by the bond or causing ... blah blah etc. etc.).
  9. The biggest discounts for ebooks are generally on the first book when it's a series. I doubt we'll ever see anything under 6 bucks for wor.
  10. Agreed, when I u read this book the first time I started crying when he gave up the blade. It was glorious.
  11. The color endpaper art isn't in the ebooks tho... The most pretty of artwork.
  12. It's most likely auto-broken when the shardholder dies. Kaladin offed that mofo with a spearhead to the face!. Edit: Kaladin never touched the blade. They carried it around on a pillow or blanket. The gem flashed when Amaram picked it up.
  13. Remeber When Szeth killed the King of Jah Keved? He was able to do Full Lashings without touching the surface, he thought of it as "Spraying a full lashing". Tho I'm looking forward to Kaladin earning himself this elite skill, I hate the nomenclature. Every time it said Szeth sprayed a lashing I pictured him having lashing ducts and shooting stormlight like a skunk... Gross. Here's hoping Kaladin has an improved vocabulary over Szeth!
  14. Chickens are from Shinovar as well. In the Rysn interlude in WoK her master trades with He Who Adds for chickens.
  15. Infidel! Blasphemer! The words you speak are Words of Recreance!
  16. Thanks for the Up voting my dad! I like the idea of a creepy spren in there, it's consistant with the Ghostbloods having greater Cosmere knowledge than a Lay-Rosharan. I also agree that she's repressing memories big time. Just think about how she doesn't think about the fact that she killed her father until the very end of WoK. I think her path to greater KR-hood will be to quit lying to herself and embrace and remember the past.
  17. So I actually came to this forum and found 17th shard originally while looking for a place to hear a Podcast about The Way of Kings. I'd assumed based on how amazing it is that there would be an audio geek out record talking about all of our favorite characters and bringing up theories and the like. I've listened to the ShardKeepers and ShardCasts, and at first they were too high level for me (until I became more entrenched in the forums), but now I've found that I want something more Stormlight Archive focused. I love Mistborn (all 4), I think Elantris and Emperor's soul are great, I think Warbreaker is good. But I LOVE The Way of Kings. It's probably my favorite book. I'd love there to be a podcast specifically dedicated to the Stormlight Archive (and of course we'd talk about whatever big Brandon Stuff is currently coming out as well) Is there anyone out there interested in putting together a SA Podcast? I'd love to participate, but I know there's no way I'll have the time or ability to edit a podcast. I have a full time job and a 4 month old baby so my time is limited, would someone be willing to put in some time for this? I think it would be fun to talk about my favorite characters, what I look forward to, have themed episodes and the like. Talkshoe could even be an option as it's quick and easy (tho the audio quality can sometimes suck). I know it's almost last minute to put out before Words of Radiance because at the very least we'd probably want and introductory episode, one dedicated to anticipating WoR then some mid-read eps or post WoR eps all in a short amount of time. But, I think it's something worth putting out there to see if there is any interest. Anyone have podcasting experience? Any interest? If we can get something going the forums would be a great place to coordinated getting everyone on skype or Google Hangouts or whatever program is most convenient.
  18. I'm a bother, Hardcover AND ebook. I'm not huge on having physical copies of books because I generally come to series late and miss out on the early editions. So for the Stormlight archive this will be my series to have Hardcover First Editions for every book in the series. Then I buy the ebook to actually read it on, I mean those books are so uncomfortable to read, they're huge I tell you! Edit: I forgot about the audiobook.. already preordered.
  19. I think I'm going to try to start something crazy huge. Like maybe I'll buy that new Malazan super ebook (now that the Kindle version is competitively priced). I've heard that series is not for genre beginners but I think I'm up for it.
  20. I sang it to my four month old girl last night. She fell right asleep.
  21. How hilarious is Lopen? I just love the banter between bridgemen, I've loved WoK for so long it's hard to imagine that there's really new cannon diaolouge between them. I'm so read for this book. Also Lopen calls Rock "mancha" which will go up with Mooley and Gancho as another one of his wonderful Herdazian names. Also the Parshendi refer to themselves as listeners . Is the lack of capitalization important?
  22. Woah, are Shallan's flashbacks symbol a depiction of Pattern?
  23. How'd you get he link if the article isn't up yet? Are you Voidbinding?
  24. It's been stated that, at least for the first five books it is likely that the Prologues will all be featured on the same night, but from Different POVs. I've been hitting the books and I think I've put together a few super tight and accurate timelines for the events in these future chapters for some of our favorite characters. Dalinar: -Dalinar meets with Gavilar pre treaty signing. Gavilar tells him to follow the codes. Dalinar makes a face when he turns away and starts pounding a goblet of purple. -Dalinar keeps drinking -Dalinar continues to drink. Eventually calling for the Parshendi to bring their drums and start the merriment. -Elhokar tried to calm down his uncle while his wife sniggers -Few more cups of purple wine -Dalinar passes out -Dalinar is awoken and told that Gavilar has been assassinated Well, I know it looks impressive but it really didn't take too much work. You just have to put in the time and do the work. Onto my next one, and this one took A LOT of timeline scouring so I hope you appreciate it. Kaladin -Kaladin studies all day -Kaladin helps his mom and Tien clean up some crem -I'm sure they eat dinner or something? -The Stormblessed family turns it in early that night What POV for Assassination Day are you looking forward to?
