  1. Yeah, worldbuilding isn't the thing in this series. It's just kind of a fantasy romp with standard fantasy races. If you're looking for that it's a very good time. nothing deeper tho.
  2. Three hunsk Ya'll ! they haven't updated it with new content yet but.. whatever!
  3. This is explaining why you're saying he's your favorite characterall over town. It seemed like not enough info to justify this.
  4. Ughh, Bloodfalcon I hate to be pedantic but tho every book in the SA will have a prolouge, only WoK has a Prelude, and this is from the prelude. It's exclusive. (Yes I pushed up my glasses and spoke in a nerd voice for this)
  5. Mysterious Galaxy in San Diego. hahaha
  6. I've been checking it frequently over the last day, and the website on the steelhunt entry section is completely jacked up! I'm assuming this is because they're in the middle of updating with new info... Because I'm and OPTIMIST!
  7. What if someone started calling him Aladin? Syl is kind of like a genie.
  8. That's it! Atom splitting. The final surge is radiation! No wonder Roshar has such F-ed up Fauna, it's essentially Fantasy Chernobyl
  9. I was thinking of division before this as most of you probably were given the expected explosive nature odf Dustbringers, for it to mean dividing (i.e. blowing up or separating) things. But this really makes sense. I approve!
  10. I see a lot of people being discouraged by the Sadeas POV and saying that he's a typical mustache twirling villain. I think it just reenforced his interesting qualities from WoK. He's essentially a junky for The Thrill, and he's tricked himself into thinking what he's doing is for the betterment of the kingdom. In one hand he says HE wants to untied the Highprinces in his own fashion and then thinks about how best to destroy Dalinar for trying to do just that. His mind is obviously messed up. He still feels genuine respect and what seems like love for his wife, which is an interesting tidbit for him (no Straff Venture all over again {yeesh that guy was the wurst}). He wants those glorious contests to continue and as some have pointed out in this thread already his lust for The Thrill could be accelerated by his acquisition of Oathbringer. I'm really looking forward to what we see from him in future chapters. It was interesting that his POV came in the middle of a Kaladin chapter as well, I wonder if that's of any significance. Final thoughts: Mark my words Sadeas is a Thrill junkie! Edit: I little fishy told me I got something wrong. Thanks Swimmingly!
  11. There's awindspren in Shallans first chapter in WoR that morphs into things.
  12. Feather, I was going to live blog wok but I don't think I can do it again I'm too darn twitchy to read it again without WoR in my brain already. Should I just message your blog when WoR comes out and I've begun blogging that?
  13. Don't mean to get petty here but does anyone remember when I suggested Just that (in reference to Vorinism and the Heirocracy altering knowledge) and ya'll were all "No, it was the Sunmaker, he promoted The Thrill and is a puppet of Odium"? Not saying that's not also true, I'm just saying that my early forum theories are in line with a young heretic Jasnah. Good company
  14. My initial reaction was that it was referring to killing Dalinar, not the desolation.
  15. No but he'll get magic mascara and grow Orange fur in the shape of a v-neck.
  16. Remember that not all spren are discerning as Honorspren. The Liespren are attracted to Shallan even tho she has a blade. Also from the back cover excerpt it seems like the only real requirement is to have a "broken soul" that needs filling. I think its a dead larking used as a paperweight to show off wealth. Shardbearer, on 14 Jan 2014 - 4:00 PM, said: I think he means that by writing things down about it she limits it, a la the research ardents in the one epilouge.
  17. They mention Sadeas' name in WoK, or at least it's somehwere out there because it was in the coppermind when I was looking up how to spell it the other day. Maybe Shallan's spren is "weak" or "dumb" because she used ink to physically bind it in the physical realm against it's will by drawing it.
  18. Right back at you buddy!
  19. +1 Nuff said
  20. Muahahahaha! And I posted that in a Walmart during my lunch break!
  21. http://www.tor.com/stories/2014/01/excerpt-brandon-sanderson-words-of-radiance-prologue-chapter-three-four-and-five Now I shall read Edit: I immediately changed the chapters in the topic title but thanks smart guy!
  22. Lamaril didn't go missing. Sadeas executed him. I do like Gaz as one of the anti-Heralds tho. Haha that's so Padan Fain (I've only ever audiobooked wheel of time so I can't spell any of that crap).
  23. I'm trying to figure out timing for a reread but there's so much stuff I have to regular-read first. I don't know if I'll get one in before WoR.. I mean I've read it 5 times between read reading and audiobook reading but.. It'll just be disappointing if I can't squeeze it in (I think one of the big problems is there's not squeezing the Way of Kings).
  24. Dudes! It was at 297 yesterday and 299 today! I can feel it comin' in the air tonight!
  25. I knew my crowd. This particular friend has read a lot of fantasy and we originally bonded doing all night anime marathon's so i knew he had the endurance as well. WoK was my first as well, so I knew it could be done. All other recommendations start on Mistborn, the casual readers find that a good entry point especially since it's essentially a heist novel to begin with anyway.
