  1. I get all of my anthologies from the Library. I don't want to shell over full price for something I'm only going to consume a portion of.
  2. I just read The Lightning Tree from GRRM's Rouges anthology. Bast centric Short story. It's excellent. Evey one go read it so we can discuss!
  3. I prefer this series to Night Angel by about a mile. I was entertained by Night Angel, but I LOVE Lightbringer. I can't wait for the next one.
  4. I agree with everything you've said. This book hit me especially hard as I've had a daughter in the time between the last book and this book. I was tearing up sumpn' fierce in his scene with Maggie. This series just gets better and better. I hope it's not at a peak right now but it's hard to imagine me liking them any more.
  5. This book has just been released. I'm on Chapter 18. It's really great so far. Anyone else deep in it?
  6. There used to be some books that required 2 tokens back in the day but I think everything is only one token now. No restrictions. Rolling over tokens depends on which plan you are one. If you do the one year thing you can roll over 8 but it's all laid out on the page where you pick your package when you sign up.
  7. It's pretty great. It's an even better deal if you can afford to go yearly with an upfront cost and 12 credits all at once to use throughout the year. They are generally up to date on new releases. The only books I've ever had to wait on were those by James SA Corey and Daniel Abraham. Those took about 2 months after release to come up. They're not necessarily the biggest names int he industry so smaller authors can be laggy. They are not good on letting you know when the books that aren't up will be released. Most of the big releases, however they have on release date. The app is very easy to use and the user interface is good. it's infinitely better than ripping 40 cds from the library that's for sure. Probably a little better than the Overdrive software that most library systems use on digital content.
  8. What if it's just a stick? That seems to be it's character arc at least, coming to terms with it being a stick.
  9. I don't get this specific error but I have had an issue for a while now. In order to post this I actually have to click "More reply Options" to make it go thru. Hitting the regular "Post" button does nothing for me. I'm on Firefox version 28.0
  10. I don't understand. Is it a stick or not? I hate it when he's ambiguous like this.
  11. I really hated the books. I read the first one and then got about 1/4 of the way thru book #2 and realize "Hey, I don't HAVE to read this!" and quit it. I just think the premise doesn't work for me.
  12. Going Cosmere here. Koloss Sword alternate name Straffbane. Nuff said.
  13. Now now guys... Has anyone described his EYEBROWS.? It's not junk until the Thaylen brow is debunked.
  14. I like the yellow "shshshsh", next book you should go with "(Name magically redacted)"
  15. Do you think Dalinars super oathtaking and lie detecting powers he exhibits at the end of WoR is the Bondsmith extra power? I referring to when he takes Aladar's word specifically. It seemed like more than just trusting the man.
  16. My only thought is that this scene is from the point of view of Hoid, who would be knowledgeable of different plant techs to describe something as a bandolier even if it technically wasn't. Edit. I was ninja 'd.
  17. The Rooster

    Rock

This thing, he is well done!
  18. I'm pretty ambivalent to Shallan becoming Queen of Jah Kaved. It might have larger KR significance I guess. On the other hand I'm deeply invested in Lopen becoming King of all Herdaaz.
  19. I agreed that it was Pattern inside of his helm. Just before that Shallan sends Pattern off to "Do something" . Then Relis hears screaming which looks like it drives him mad.
  20. I'm assuming based on this illustration that the Senescence Pupation is the end of the Chulls life cycle. So that any breeding would have needed to be done while they are in their adult phase.
  21. Noone has really brought up a super awesome piece of worldbuilding added by WoR. Chull senescence. Via this image we learn that adult chulls having (as far as I know) no natural predators pupate one last time in maturty and turn into natural gardens. That's a bit of a joke but seriously folks they look really cool in the state known as Senescence. Chull drivers must feed their chulls a special diet to make sure their "cash cows" don't turn into rocks during highstorms. This is super cool, and I think it has a very real world implication. Multiple times WoB has popped up saying that the rampant slaughter of un-matured Chasmfiends known as the Shattered Plains Warwould eventually have big real world impact by greatly decreasing the population of CHasmfiends. What possible boon to the environment could these massive things be. Obviously they're going to be eating many many smaller creatures.. But what else? Chasmfiends obviously have no natural predators besides man so I postulate that Chasmfiends also acieve Senescence at full maturity. Why is this important? I don't know, but I can postulate. 1. Mountain Seed : Senescence level chasmfiends would be huge. What if the majority of Rosharan mountains started as giant Greatshell Senescence pods? Thousands upon thousands of years of crem later, BOOM, Mountains. Moutains with a big chull gemstone right in the center. Thus the Shin and Horneater reverence for the spirit of mountains. 2. Investment Release: The massive planetwide investment that Is a high storm leaves being millions of gemstones full to the brim with light. Light that slowly drains until the stone is dun? Is this invested energy used up simply thru the process of giving off this light? Or is there another answer. The Secescent Chull shown in the drawing looks ornamental, even to a spiritual nature. What if these pods are the Nexi by which stormlight leaves the physical realm to be redistributed in another Highstorm. 3. The looks super cool. I don't have any other uses for giant Senescent Pods. What do ya'll think about this? Is it significant or just super creative and cool worldbuilding?
  22. Turns out after Adolin calling him a cremling all of those times, he was right. Sadeas was in reality just a big cremling and finally went away for a simple life of eating crew.
  23. It's Kurse , not Khriss! Ups to anyone who gets this. I thought this the first time I saw that name (like 5 min ago).
  24. This is the only mention of Lhan in the entire WoR spoilers section until now. Peter did you point it out because it is crucial to future plots (it obviously is)? Particularly well written ? Or because it reveals something Cosmere related. I liked this interlude alot but it's not getting much attention. Are we missing the big picture?
  25. Agreed 100% . I think the windrunner powers would look silly live action. They can do so many cool things animated. I could only ever see it as a long form cartoon.
