Cen woke up in the morning to find his countries ambassador dead. This wasn't really surprising considering who they were dealing with. Hallendren's weren't exactly known for their subtly. Heck, Cen was surprised they didn't do it out in the town square, bonus points for the covert assassination. Cen strolled over to the Red Salmon and had a delightful breakfast, and left a compliment on a knapkin: "Compliments to the chef I've never had a better Salmon Benedict. We should meet sometime and perhaps I can write a story about your prowess in the kitchen. There are too few stories about us Idrians as it is. -Cen - Your local Lore-Craftsman" After his exquisite breakfast, Cen made his way over to the Green Potato where a crowd was gathering. He walked up to the large group of gawkers and said, "This reminds me of a story about the assassination of a Hanaldian prince. You heard that one?" When everyone turned and looked at Cen, he felt like daggers were stabbing him, "Not the time for a story I see, well... I guess we should take a look around the room and see if anything is amiss."

So, are PM's allowed at the moment Claincy? I didn't see anything about them in the updated rules. *EDIT* Sorry, I saw that it is still of the second heightening, I'm assuming we have one of those?

Cen walks into The Red Salmon and sit's down at the bar. He turns to face the crowd at the bar making sure to broadcast his voice, "Let me introduce myself. My name is Cen, the renowned, infamous, famous, much sought after - Lore-craftsman." He looks around to see if anyone is listening, and notices he had perked a few ears. "What is a Lore-Craftsman you ask? Why I wander the lands listening and observing piecing together some of the most epic stories you have ever heard." "Have you heard the one about the Idrian princess Larisel?" Suprisingly, Cen notices he is losing the few people he has listening. "No? Well, I suppose I can tell that one another time - if any of you are interested in a story of epic proportions, for simply a night of drinks, I will leave you in wonder." On this note, Cen turned back towards the bartender and ordered a drink. He slowly drifted off into his thoughts, trying to figure out exactly why one of his most trusted contacts had told him to come here. He would find the story if it took everything he had.

Kurki, That is perfect, and exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! So, they don't have their surgebinding powers, but they do have other powers.
-
Ok. So, this may already be a conversation, but I just want to point out something. Everyone keeps talking about heralds and how they are masters of x surgebinding. While that may be true, they are a master of it, most of them haven't had their honorblade for 4500 years.... This tells me two things: One, they can't use their powers without their honorblades. Two, they haven't used their powers in 4500 years - they may suck at it now. I Just wanted to get some clarification out there. Unless we have WoB stating that they can use their Surgebinding abilities without their Honorblade - can we please stop assuming the modern version of them can use their powers (We only have WoB that one of them went back to get their blade). *EDIT* formatting got all messed up when I made the post. I fixed it.

[Theory] House Davar's claim on the kingdom of Jah Keved
Macen replied to mons456's topic in Stormlight Archive
Haha true. I don't think he is bloodthirsty at all, I think he has just accepted his role of Tyrant. This may change with him becoming a Bondsmith (lets be honest, most nations are probably going to work with the KR once they get all of the oathgates working). And I have read nearly all of the 40k books. Gaunts Ghosts are by far my favorite. Although the Eisenhorn and Horus Heresy were really good too. -
[Theory] House Davar's claim on the kingdom of Jah Keved
Macen replied to mons456's topic in Stormlight Archive
Colby, only if you think in logical, and not devious ways. I think it's a great idea - I want to read all about the carnage that ensues. -
I understand. It's a wasted vote other than what we find out based on the vote, but being a regular villager has it's curses (no way to be seeked and verified, I could just be a smoked spiked). My only argument about voting Mabi is that I have been calling for the vote on nearly every post I make. As far as Bandwagoning Asp... I was the 4th to vote out of 12 people... So, if you call that being the bandwagoner then I don't know what you would say about the other 8 after me... I am going to switch my vote from Mabi to Meta. If I am to die, I want to get my suspicions out real quick. Meta: Joe and I were invite into a group with Arst, Meta, and Asp. Asp left and Meta argued that this made him not spiked because who would leave a group. Also, he is by and far the most experienced out of all of us, and with his suspicion lists is somewhat playing us like a fiddle. Everyone is following his suspicions almost to a T. Mabi: She has dodged the chopping block for a 3rd time now. If there is anything I've learned from watching the previous games, this is a red flag. Just keep and eye on her. *EDIT & NOTE* I could vote Vizzini or Wark and make it a 2 way tie but there is no point. Someone is going to die and it's probably going to be a villager. If I die at least we aren't risking losing a allomancer. I do feel bad for you guys now though, who is going to do all of your heavy lifting?

I'm back, and I have a LOT to catch up on
Macen replied to Senor Feesh's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Argent, that's how I get my friends hooked too! First, I get them Pregnant, then I hand them a stack of books. They can't go out partying anymore, so they start reading. Quite devious if you ask me. -
Mac was standing in the back when he heard Meta call out his name for a suspect. "Me?" Mac sat down surprised. He had never thought that his fellow villagers would turn on him... what had he said that made them look at him in this way? So, for my reasoning behind the votes I have cast. I was the 4th to vote for Asp. Someone had to die and Gamut had a good case built up. I read Asp's defense and it seemed to me the best bet was to Kill him, then kill the informant if he didn't die. I won't say it wasn't bandwagoning, but it's not like I came in as the last vote to cover up my fishiness. You yourself voted for him later than I did Meta - so I don't see how that argument works against me in this situation. As far as Mabi goes, I have been calling for her head the last 3 days. Something about her just seems suspicious to me and has for a while (I've said as much before). If I get a vote from the one "safe" character we have going against the person I have been wanting to vote, then yes - I am going to jump on that train. As far as spreading the votes around, I feel you all are taking care of it - and I don't want to risk voting for someone I don't want to since I'm not always able to get on. I will change my vote if, in my opinion, someone is a better target - or Gamut makes a good point on why I should switch. P.S. I think there is only 1 other vote for Mabi now? So, Hardly bandwagoning anymore *EDIT* I put together a list of the votes so far - let me know if I have an error: Mabi(2) - Maw, Mac Wark(3) - Vizzini, Vron, Dane Mac(1) - Selvar Maw(1) - Joe

Mabi it is. I don't really have any reason other than personal she has been on the chopping block twice and made it through. That proved fatal in the first game. Oh, and as far as we know the only safe character we have is Gamut and he voted for her... little sad killing off the towns only woman though...

Yeah, I guess I got a little off topic with my post. I just don't think that Kaladin is weak in any regards. I would agree with Kessler though that their situations aren't exactly comparable. Most of book one Kaladin spent thinking that his sacrifices would end with everyone he tried to protect dying (the opposite of his intentions). While Taln knew that his sacrifice was for the betterment of the entire world. I think Taln is a badass and probably much stronger of will than Kaladin, but it's also not like he chose to go the last 4500 years of torture alone... Anyways... I'm just reiterating points that have already been made. They are both awesome. So is Lopen... I vote for The Lopen

This was, quite possible, the best thing I have seen all day. I wish I could upvote you multiple times Colby. Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 502245680 bytes) in Unknown on line 0T

I'm assuming this isn't sarcasm. If it isn't, then I completely and utterly disagree with you - on mostly everything the first paragraph. I'll agree that Kaladin is kind of whiney, he was as a child, and still is. But other than that - volunteering for service to protect your brother who is the most important person in the world to you, to watch him die (needlessly in your eyes) a few years later. Not letting that tear you down, instead, turning it into a need to protect those who can't protect themselves (all of the new recruits he pays to get in his squad) to then risk your life protecting the man who more or less ordered your brothers dead. Then, to have that man kill every other person you have tried to protect in place of your brother. Then, to be made a slave on top of that. Then, to try to break out of slavery multiple times to have every person you swore to protect along the way get cut down. Then to be stuck running a bridge where you are constantly watching people die, knowing that if you try to protect them - they will more than likely just end up dead like everyone else you have ever tried to protect. Then, coming to the realization that no matter what you do, everyone else dies, but somehow - you always live through it. I don't know what kind of past you have, and I got lucky enough not to have any of my buddies die when I was overseas, but losing friends can destroy you, I've seen it happen. I'm surprised Kaladin was able to muster the gumption to even attempt suicide. Judging him weak and or pathetic would be possibly the furthest stretch of the truth. I consider myself pretty good at looking at issues in my life objectivly, and can get through nearly everything with a joke and a smile. But, if I had to go through what he had... If you were being sarcastic - please disregard. Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 490228016 bytes) in Unknown on line 0

Wiery directed me over here. I asked about Shallan's parents and another question. here were my questions: Q. What group, if any, was Shallan's mother a part of? B. RAFO Q. Was Shallan's father influenced at all by Odium? B. Yes Q. Is it possible to bind with more than one spren of different types? I think you have this one in the opening post, I don't remember the exact words I used - I think what you put in the OP is more the words I used... unless someone else asked the same question (I was too excited to be meeting brandon). B. I'm not going to say it's Impossible

Weiry, can do. Didn't know there was such a thing.

RShara, I asked 3 questions at the Omaha Signing if you want to add them. Q. What secret group, if any, was Shallan's mother a part of? B. RAFO Q. Was Shallan's father influenced at all by Odium? B. Yes Q. Is it possible to bind with more than one spren? (then I added in) of different types? B. I'm not going to say it's Impossible Also, I recorded a video of his reading from "The Silence Divine" if anyone would like to transcribe it, let me know and I'll send it to you. *Edit* Left a word out of one of my questions.

Shallan's mother and father (with answers from WoB Omaha)
Macen replied to Macen's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think it was middle ground. Just like how spren bond with someone with cracks int heir soul. Odium was slowing influencing him from the cracks in his soul. I don't think odium was all of it, just helped push him along the way. -
Shallan's mother and father (with answers from WoB Omaha)
Macen replied to Macen's topic in Stormlight Archive
Oh. I also asked if more than one type of spren could be bonded and he more or less said (I didn't record it) that it's not impossible. -

Shallan's mother and father (with answers from WoB Omaha)
Macen posted a topic in Stormlight Archive
So. I asked Brandon which Secret Group, if any Shallans mother is in. He quickly RAFO'd that. Next. I have been brewing a theory based on another conversation here about Lin Davar (will link when I get home). Based on his slow and steady decline into nearly constant rage and the rage he causes in others I thought he may have been influenced by Odium. I asked if he was influenced by Odium and he said yes! So stoked I didn't get RAFO'd on that one. Just left the signing. Time to drive home. -
Why is Wyndle so wise/What's up with Syl? (Spoilers)
Macen replied to Trickonometry's topic in Stormlight Archive
There isn't much need to theory craft. 'The Circle' and cultivation or night mother selected Lift. They helped Wyndle come from the cognitive to the physical realm to help the transition. I thought it said that in the chapter but I just reread it and can't find it anywhere. Maybe I read it in the sample loft chapter from the shardhunt? I wouldn't think they would change it. -
Your "I Knew It" Moments for Words of Radiance?
Macen replied to Lightflame's topic in Stormlight Archive
The two biggest theories I had were about spren gave up their spren form to become a shardblade. And when the knights radiant severed the Nahel bond it trapped them in the blade (same base idea as what you thought - and pretty close). The other main theory I had is here. I pretty much thought that Szeth was truthless because he spouted stuff that his religion didn't believe and they made him truthless because of it.
