  1. I doubt this because Syl said the Stormfather forbid bonding, yet Honor says that he wants the KR to be reformed....
  2. I believe that there is a WoB somewhere stating that you can enter the cognitive realm two ways. Physically or mentally. And that Jasnah entered it Physically her first time (Perhaps Shallan as well)?
  3. I think this whole business supports this theory. If it does, mad props go out to FirstSelector. Becuase I never would have thought outside the box like that. Jezrien holding a piece of the shard when he thinks that the KR coming will bring another desolation would make sense.
  4. I suppose that makes sense. But I can't coorilate it to snapping. Snapping was a postcondition, not a precondition. They already had the power, the snapping just enabled the use of it.
  5. I was thinking about posting a theory about that 18th, but I felt it might be cutting into too many others theories. I don't think Stormfather and Nightmother are "Honor and Cultivation". I believe they are like 'king spren' of some sort, but I don't have enough evidence to back this up other than the fact that Syl implies Stormfather is still around.
  6. AonarFailas, I don't mean to come off as trying to destroy your theory, I actually like it. I just find a few parts hard to agree with. I don't think I can get behind the part about breaking them, or losing part of their soul. What trauma have these characters been through? Jasnah(She had a spren before her father died). Lift (She is awful young to have had that much trauma, but maybe) Elhokar (I could accept his fathers death, but I don't think that's 'Soul-Shattering' - just a little traumatic)
  7. So, after reading the latest chapters here. I believe the conflict between the Honorspren and Cryptics is quite obvious (correct me if I'm wrong). That they are in conflict on whether or not they should bond with humans again. It is stated in chapter 3 of WoR: And this in chapter 6: Which implied that the cryptics CHOSE Shallan (I believe that Pattern found Shallan at a young age and followed her, observing her - then had the other cryptics follow her to see if they approved, that is why she saw tons of them the months before she entered shadesmar - but this is neither here nor there.) This implies that the cryptics are actively trying to bond with KR candidates - at least I think that this is what this implies. And lastly, we have this from Syl in chapter 9: She was forbidden to come, but she came anyways. Also, she is the ONLY honorspren who has come. It must have been a big deal, because she clames she disobeyed the stormfather: (*note* I belive this helps add some weight behind the theory that the Almighty and Stormfather are two seperate entities) I believe this creates a solid argument, pick it apart if you can!
  8. I'm still not sure what they are from, but I thought I would post this for you in reference:
  9. I'm going to counter with this: Pattern has obviously been with her for a very long time. I'm assuming back to before she killed her father. *edit* Fixed some formatting issues with the quote. *edit* Perhaps the other Cryptics are there to observe the being that Pattern has found worthy of a bond. They want to approve before they will allow Pattern to communicate with Shallan. Just an idea.
  10. I hate to argue, but what makes you think both Kaladin and Shallan weren't already bonded to their Cryptics spren? Shallan started seeing Cryptics in her pictures pretty much the moment she got to Kharbranth. I would think purley by the fact that she is able to see them on some level indicates a minor bond. The same thing happened with Jasnah, she wasn't able to travel to Shadesmar until after she has started seeing the shadows that stretched towards her. I believe the bond starts long long before they first talk with their spren. No other explination makes sense. They start seeing their spren->Powers begin to manifest->Their spren makes contact. With the exception of Szeth we have seen no one with powers who didn't have a spren already following them around (bonded with them).
  11. chikinllama, I'll admit I'm impressed. I hadn't thought of anything along these lines, but I like it a lot. It ties together a lot of things that haven't been tied together yet (pardon me if someone has tied similar things and I just haven't read it yet). The only part I have a hard time with is that the bond opens them to corruption. I would think its more that they can then bond with a corrupt spren... Could it be that the parshendi (or some affiliated group) used the black stone to sever the bond with the spren to the KR (out of belief that if all bonds were severed the desolations would stop)? That could be why Gavilar didn't want the parshendi to have it (to cut off the bond again). It might also explain why the KR gave up their shards (their bonds had been severed). Side note, is there a threat somewhere discussing why it has been so long since the last desolation? It seemed to me in every previous desolation that Dalinar has seen they knew what to expect. This time around people almost believe desolations are stories used to scare children. *Note* sorry for the ranting - I was typing and more ideas just kept coming to mind.
  12. There is a great debate going on here about the final surge, and they bring up the KR in the vision. I personally like Stoneward's explanation and argument that it's a Dustbringer. Every other Stoneward we have seen glowed a deep red, not an amber color. Division would also make sense for why the water moved around here (at least, if that is how the division power works). *EDIT* I started typing this up, then had a call at work.... so Stoneward beat me to it....
  13. As far as it not being precognition. I'm not going to get completely behind the "it's of odium", that's never directly said, just implied. Cultivation does it. Honor TRIES to do it, he just blows at it. I will concede that it is PROBABLY not precognition, but I wanted to be the one person to say it just in case. I haven't counted it out yet - I actually still give it a somewhat decent chance.
  14. All evidence we have as of yet is that there are only 10 kinds of spren that are sentient. These are the 10 types that are capable of binding to humans. So far we have only actually seen 5 types that are sentient. We know through WoB that Syl is not a windspren who 'became' sentient. She is an Honorspren which is a cousin to windspren. Believing that all spren are capable of sentience is not a bad thought, but majority of the evidence points to that not being true. We have seen or heard mention of close to 100 spren (I'm throwing a number out there that sounds about right) and as of right now, only 5 of them are sentient. And none of those 5 are members of a group we have seen who ISN'T sentient (Syl being a possible caveat for when she still acted like a wind spren).
  15. And a tank. I want to see Kaladin face off against a tank and a chopper.... (Ok, not really - but the thought is amusing)
  16. I like where you are going with this. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the first sentence. As far as Surgebinding re-appearing - most evidence points to something that Gavilar did. I do like the theory and you will get an upvote for it, but I still think it was something Gavilar did, not this.
  17. Vikorr. I've been trying to put this into a logical well worded post for about a month now (I have a few very close, but I always tied in other theories that were obviously wrong Like This). I greatly appreciate the support on this and the well put together post. On a side note. I believe the Spren died - now whether Spren see death in the same way (perhaps loss of consciousness is death to them) or whether the Spren that died are gone forever, I'm unsure. *EDIT* Correction, I don't believe the spren 'Died' but rather are trapped in the blade forever. I could see this being wrong though. *Note* I should contact you with any other theories I have and have you flesh em out for me.
  18. This is how I interpreted it - especially considering it's a cognitive realm. Now is that different when they Physically travel there, or the same as when they "Cognitively" travel there.
  19. Moogle was pretty adamant guys.... I don't know if we can win him over.
  20. I really should have gone to college.... *Edit* Or at least taken more than basic chemistry and biology.
  21. Precognition. You all owe me a beer if I'm right.
  22. Is it possible their is a surgebinding for foreseeing the future? And Dalniar foresaw something in his sleep and his spren somehow compelled him to write what he saw on the wall. There are a lot of holes here but we know so LITTLE about the bondsmiths....
  23. I'm 110% on board with the Spren sacrificing itself for an honorable persons shard blade. I still need to finish my post about this (I've been compiling what I think is a pretty compelling theory post). But I have thought this for a long time and totally support it. I will link to my theory when I get it posted (probably sometime later this week).
  24. I think both of them will have super interesting back stories. I think Dalinar's will be the boring one. Shallan we learn about how she got her shardblade (The little we learn from the shallan chapter already has me super intrigued). The Szeth we learn what makes him Truthless and more about the Shin.
  25. I keep posting this everywhere, and I need to make a post just about this and none of my other wack-brained theories. But..... I believe something similar to this. I believe the Nahel bond allows the spren to become the shard blades. That was the Recreance, when the KR gave up their Shard Blades and doomed their Spren. I think that the only way for the Spren to be released from their blades is via the Nahel Bond, which has essentially been severed by this betrayal. I think this is how Spren died in the betrayal. A lot of theorizing here, but I feel it would support your theory pretty strongly (with the exception of HonorBlades - I think they are significantly different).
