  1. Well-drawn, though she looks a tad annoyed. 9.8/10; I'm sure she's (you're?) lovely!
  2. Normally I'm not one to listen to Christmas music in August, but I've recently gotten into the Lower Lights, and they're just fantastic. Also, I've been enjoying the Killers' new album, Imploding the Mirage, and Erasure's newest, The Neon, over the past week or so. (Re)discovered Sky Sailing somewhere in there too, upon recommendation from my sister.
  3. Also, a regret: not chatting a bit more with the cute cashier at the aforementioned Barnes & Noble. Numbers be darned, I just wish I'd said a bit more than "Please" and "Thank you"!

  4. Today, I bought a vinyl record for 50¢ after my shift at DI, then immediately went and spent $30 on one at Barnes & Noble.

I'm not sure what to make of this.

  5. Oh, I'm rereading those now! They're fun -- not quite the same brilliance as the first series, but I like 'em just fine.
  6. The starry one ain't bad, but I really like the first one.
  7. Thanks! I doubt I'll do anything fancy with the nib, unless I order from Nibsmith or Nibs.com (I default to Goulet and Pen Chalet). Actually, I just remembered that I've wanted a Franklin-Christoph for a while too, so if I got one from them I'd probably get a fine SIG. Generally, though, the nib totally depends on the pen. If I get a Pelikan, for example, I'll probably stick to F or EF because I hear they run incredibly wet and at least one size above what they're marked. I tend to favor finer nibs, but for Visconti or Leonardo I'd consider a medium.
  8. It's so pretty! And it's blue! Thanks for sharing! If all goes well with our move, once we settle down I'll be getting a new pen! Haven't yet decided whether to go for an Aurora, Pelikan, or Visconti. Leonardo and Montblanc are also on the list, though perhaps lower in priority.
  9. Awesome! Don't suppose you could post a pic?
  10. It really is! I love living in a valley, despite the heat. The mountains are practically in my backyard and the view from any hill is stupendous.

A little something for Pioneer Day here in Utah yesterday!

Written with a Tactile Turn Gist in Birmingham Rose Overture.

  12. I know! Though my uncle's the fan, not me.

Can't recommend this song enough! It's so peaceful and cozy, and the singer is amazing. (The whole album was sung by Annabel, and asjdlkf; her voice is beautiful)

The pen is a Schon DSGN Pocket Six with a Graf von Faber-Castell Royal Blue cartridge.

Nice! I really like the composition there. You're cursive's not bad, too -- I was never able to truly get a handle on the stuff. -_-

(I have a Baoer myself, actually! I'd use it more if it actually worked. Solid choice with the Waterman ink. Converters are great, but a pain to clean. :P)

Thanks! I had to teach myself... It's far from good, but it's a lot better than it used to be. (What really got me practicing was that my English teacher last year gave you a point of extra credit on packets of you wrote in cursive. It was a good excuse to extend more effort).

The ink also works with my calligraphy pen, which is fun to mess around with. (The ink it came with was really thick for some reason, so it just didn't work. I don't actually do calligraphy, by the way. :D) I didn't even bother looking into cartridges as the pen already had a converter and I didn't really want to do a ton of research on the right cartridges to get. Plus, having a jar of ink is very appealing to my nerdy soul. ^_^

There is no motivator like the promise of extra credit. :P Good on ya for teaching yourself!

Agreed--cartridges are awfully convenient, but nothing will replace the feeling of filling from a bottle. ^_^

  14. John Powell is a literal wizard. HTTYD remains, hands down, one of the best scores ever in my book. Right now I'm listening to Gareth Emery's latest album, The Lasers, and the two singles off Erasure's upcoming album.
  15. *mails hugbots to Jaywalk and DramaQueen*
  16. Yay Quiver! Glad to see you back; it's been too long!
  17. Well, it's not anymore. What it said before was "Thisparticularlyrapidunintelligiblepatterisn'tgenerallyheardandifitisitdoesn'tmatter!" This is MegaSigBeta. What you're seeing is the phrase [REDACTED] written in [REDACTED].
  18. Welcome to the Shard! Have a muffin, on the house.
  19. Tramlaw is a frankly badchull name for a fortress, city-state, or some such. If only it weren’t literally “Walmart” spelled backwards. -_-

I once came across a perfect name for a fantasy city—Torosoloed. Except it was an older article (2003-2004) on a music website that had undergone some wonky formatting in the digitization process, so it was just the words "Toro soloed" smushed together.

  20. Oh hey a lot has changed huh Welcome back! Glad to have you again; I'd wondered where you'd gone. (And Kobold, I think the Discord would benefit greatly from your loonlike laughing. Join usssss. Oh wait! You already have. Yay!)
  21. I'm glad you find it amusing, because it's essentially just a placeholder until I get MegaSig™ up and running. It's actually a line from this song from Pirates of Penzance. Anyways, actually germane to the thread, that's a good quote! I love that kinda thing (I live for the Incorrect Mistborn/Stormlight Quotes Tumblr blogs). Bonus for being heartstring-tugging to boot! 11/10.
  22. A brief, compelling plug for a character and a threat. Very succinct. 9/10, 'cause I like my nachos and would prefer you stay away from them.
