I just finished a run-through - to the credit roll - of Hogwarts Legacy, which took me a year, mostly because I have a weird thing where I don't like ending things like that. I started again, and did it in half of the time. Now I'm trying to 100% it with my new character. I'm around 50-60% right now, after playing for almost 30 hours. IT'S A HUGE GAME!

Long Game 104: The Flame of Tar Valon
Through the Living Hopper replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
Alkarii Tay'TerTüne had always wondered what it would be like to die. He was not suicidal, no, not like the villagers all thought. He had no desire to die. He simply wanted to know what it felt like to die. If he died, everything he knew would go to waste. No, Alkarii had no desire to die. For if he died, the Secret would die with him.- 990 replies

If someone could give me a play by play of how Wayne shortchanges the man in chapter 4 of Bands of Mourning, that would be great. I've gone over it so many times and I still can't figure it out. Also, for future reference, would this topic go in Mistborn Discussion or Cosmere Q&A? I'm still trying to figure out where all of the questions go.

Trust me, you can't be worse then me.

Have you read WaT yet? Did you go to Nexus? Also I have needed help on some weird Investiture stuff, seems like you might be the person to help me with that!

Kaladin or Kelsier ?

WaT spoiler: -
In RoW, when Navanin used Raysium to put half of the spren in a different gemstone, she learned that if part of a conjoined fabrial is in a larger gemstone than the other one, the smaller one will move much further than the larger one is moved. If you made huge gemstones conjoined with ridiculously small ones and then put arrows on the small gems, you could make the arrows go forward with probably a literal ton of force. Moving the big gem back would bring the arrows back toward you, from where they could then be shot forward again. There are so many different ways to improve this. Sorry, this drawing isn't my best work.

Things I just learned
Through the Living Hopper replied to Ookla de los Cuervos's topic in General Discussion
Sorry, but the correct plural of octopus is actually octopodes, because the "i" at the end is Latin plural rules, and the word "octopus" is Greek in origin, so you need to use the Greek plural. -
I don't know if this topic is out there already, so if it is, a link to it would be fine. Okay, can anyone provide me a conclusive list on all the known planets (specifically the ones that have symbols.) I have these ones: Roshar Selish Scadrial Drominad (First of the Sun) Taldain Canticle Komashi Lumar Nalthian Yolish but I need two more to make a d12 with all the symbols. Also, I know that some are system names and others are planets. Sorry.

Which Twinborn do you think is most useful?
Through the Living Hopper replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think that this one is the scariest. DOUBLE CHROMIUM! Theoretically, one of these could take down even a Gold Compounder. I imagine it like a bad sit-com scene where the hero is tripping over their feet, miraculously avoiding a bullet, or stepping on a rake, flipping it into the face of the villain, but it would probably be different though. We can only hope it's not. Edit: double chromium drawing Aons, all perfect and immensely powerful. Also, with breath, they could just stumble onto incredibly powerful commands. Money wouldn't be a problem, because you would just find it everywhere. They would be unstoppable. -
Vin's switch from glass to obsidian daggers in WoA
Through the Living Hopper replied to fuzzyairplant's topic in Mistborn
There is a moment in WoA, when Elend is attacked at the Assembly meeting, where it says that she pulled out an obsidian dagger. On the next page, the Pewterarm died with a glass dagger through the neck. That's all the change we get, though I think she fights with obsidian daggers after that fight. No idea if Brandon did that on purpose, or if it was just a slip.- 7 replies

Sorry, insta-kill was a rather crude way to put it. I meant that doing hemulargy classically, like Marsh in Hero of Ages would be impossible to recover from. I don't know, though. It's just a gut feeling.

I'm not reading the sample chapters for that reason; I think that once I started I wouldn't be able to stop. Welcome to the Shard! It's a great place to talk to other people who share your level of fandom.

I feel like hemalurgy can't be recovered from, no matter if you're a gold compounder or not. It just seems like it is kind of an insta-kill thing. I don't know, though. Do we have a WoB on this exact subject? The one above seemed pretty vague.

Hey Everybody!
Through the Living Hopper replied to Through the Living Hopper's topic in Introduce Yourself!
My first Brandon Sanderson book was technically Alcatraz, but my first Cosmere book was WoK. That's probably why it's my favorite. I've read all of the (official) Cosmere books but White Sand 3, but not all of the non-cosmere ones. Favorite... coin? (Breeze+Eastern Street Slang Confused Face) If you mean monetary system, I really like spheres or the biochroma of Warbreaker. Favorite Worldhopper: -

I like Surgebinding, because I like the whole concept of shardblades, shardplate, spren, and ideals. Also I just really want to be able to fly. -
Finally posted here, I've been on here for almost a month! I've been wanting to make an account for a while. Hey Everybody!!!

This question is ignoring the obvious problems of a shard blade on Earth. What would happen if a shardblade stabbed through an isolated computer that has the only source of the AI? And the AI is trapped in said computer? Very specific question, sorry.

Does Dalinar have living Shardplate?
Through the Living Hopper replied to Ba-Ado-Fisherman's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I always assumed that the gloryspren swirling around Dalinar in RoW were his armor spren. I was pretty disappointed when that didn't happen, because it seemed like they had no purpose other than to make a really cool visual. -
What Is the Weird Spren Dalinar Sees in Oathbringer?
Through the Living Hopper posted a question in Cosmere Q&A
In Oathbringer, Dalinar goes out into the storm to find his dinner knife. When he comes back, he sees a strange Spren in the distance. He does a rude gesture at it, and then goes inside. What is it?- 1 reply
