  1. Welcome!! What do you think would be a cool combo between two Surges that aren't found in a single Radiant Order?
  2. Maybe. I just assumed it was extremely efficient but completely null and void outside of the tower, though I guess it constantly fueling every inch of the tower at all times makes way more sense than what I was picturing, though that line may have held some weight
  3. Ah; thank you that makes more sense, don't know why I didn't piece that together
  4. I'd have to imagine the splitting of Harmonium is a trait unique to that metal specifically due to its unstable nature, though I'm not certain (and not even there in my reading). Harmonium is split, explodes, and causes trace amounts of Lerasium and Atium, but Harmonium is innately very explodey. Honor and Odium aren't opposites in the way P and R were, so the Taravangium-whatever it'll be called-likely won't be able to be made in the same mechanical process. The efficiency; Towerlight is far more efficient than Stormlight, though only works in Urithiru. Lifelight is likely now forever limited to a single person (LIft) due to Cultivation fleeing, and people tend to assume Warlight would be powerful but deplete quickly.
  5. One started as a stick The other started as a member of Bridge Four. One is still what they were, the other cannot be spoken for the same.
  6. Good ising Cane. Wasing the hard, ising now. (I think) Welcome to the Shard, If you could make Shallan, Kaladin, Adolin, or Dalinar (Or any other Rosharans really) into Mistings, what metals would you give them?
  7. literally throwing myself in here how is this thread still ongoing though to add anything yes I'd kiss a Singer
  8. By the time they have Stormlight available once more, Adolin will have likely gotten so used to his prosthetic (y'know with it being nearly a decade) to the point the lack of a proper leg will have imprinted on his own perception of himself. Kaladin couldn't heal his scars because he believed it was meant to be part of him, until he finally accepted the Fourth Ideal. The Lopen never attributed the lack of an arm to himself, he attributed them to the one-armed Herdazian jokes. Adolin may not take the missing leg as a negative trait anymore necessarily, but it's still likely to be a part of himself that he can't get rid of anymore. Additionally from a writing perspective; the consequences being between "Injury that can be healed easily" and "Death" and nothing more is a bit of an iffy thing. Adolin proves that even in a world where people can easily heal lost limbs, it is still possible for the stakes to be high. It's the same with Kaladin before he swore the Third Ideal, despite the powers, people can be in a low spot and come back from it, with Kaladin, he just got Stormlight, but with Adolin, he'll likely adapt.
  9. Welcome! I know you're a Windrunner... But if you had to choose a surge outside of Gravitation and Adhesion, what would it be?
  10. it has been made at last, one of my more recent posts on my profile
  11. This post may contain spoilers for Wind and Truth, if you have not read to that point and care not to be spoiled, please do not continue. So, I am a Cosmere fan, one who is extremely into the functions and such of Investiture. Investiture, as it happens, allll leads back to two things; Adonalsium, and the Shards. The shards, as it happens, happen to be 16 in number. Now, what if there weren't sixteen, what if the Shattering DIDN'T result in Sixteen, but rather Twenty-Five. Well, this imaginary scenario I came up with is solved by an imaginary AU I also came up with. Welcome. To start with, I'd like to preface this by saying part of this involves a theory I made involving the Dawnshards, and I will be using that theory to assume the names of two Dawnshards, as I needed to make a fifth. So; lets start with that. The Dawnshards, as we know, are four in number. Four as we know is the root of Sixteen, and this AU also assumes this is intentional, leading to Five Dawnshards, and Twenty-Five Shards. Here is a list of the Dawnshards and Shards of this AU; (Note, the AU's contents are underlined, and of course, none of these groupings are canon in the actual Cosmere. The two Dawnshards that currently are unnamed are bolded instead.) EXIST (SURVIVE, OR BE UNBOTHERED OR UNTOUCHED) PRESERVATION AUTONOMY REASON MERCY ORDER (EVERYTHING MUST HAVE A PLACE) CHANGE (BECOME SOMETHING ELSE, OR CHANGE IN STATE) RUIN CULTIVATION ENDOWMENT INVENTION SWINDLE (NOTHING IS TO BE POSESSED FOREVER) PONDER (THINK, REALIZE, AND THEORYCRAFT) WIT (ONE MUST BE INTENTIVE) PHILOSOPHY (ONE MUST WONDERING) SWOTTY (ONE MUST LEARN IT ALL) CONTRITION (ONE MUST REALIZE REGRET) AMENDMENT (ONE MUST REALIZE FAILURE) BEAR (FEEL, HAVE AN EXTREME SENSE) ODIUM VALOR WHIMSY AMBITION ATTONEMENT (ONE MUST REPENT FOR THEIR CRIMES) RETURN (UNITE, OR TO “BECOME ONE”) DOMINION HONOR DEVOTION VIRTUOSITY AUTHORITY (ALL MUST FOLLOW UNDER ONE) All of these Shards will eventually have lore (maybe), but as it stands, only the Vessel of Order possesses a smidge of lore, though his Investiture is not yet made. (I may end up yanking some of these Shard's Investiture for my own writing lol) The current focus of this stage of the AU is Allomancy, and the change the 25-centrism would have. Instead of breaking into four groups of four metals, evenly falling into push/pull internal/external, the metals are instead five groups of five metals, and while the push/pull internal/external still exist, each category has an additional Inert metal, filling that fifth slot. The powers of an Inert metal cannot be (normally) stolen with a standard Hemalurgic spike, a specific metal spike must be used to specifically steal Inert metals, which is listed along with them. Additionally; the fifth category does have a normal placing for Allomancy, but serves similarly to the Hybrid category in Feruchemy. With all of that out of the way; here are the metals; Physical Inert - Invar - (COINWHIPPER) (FAXUIER) Allomancy When burned, Invar allows a Coinwhipper to slow down or speed up the velocity of any metal within an area around the Allomancer, but also do the inverse to the speed at which the Allomancer can move while burning. Speed change and area size increased on flaring. Duralumin drastically increases the speed, but not the size of the area affected. Invar burns at a relatively normal speed. Feruchemy A Fauxier is capable of using Invarminds to Tap Invar to store the act of burning or using a Metal. For instance, a Coinshot Fauxier would be able to store the Steelpush, causing the Steel to be burned, but the Push to not happen. This also causes the Allomantic Pulse to be sent out even if the Push does not take place. Compounding Compounding an Invarmind would allow the Twinborn to disrupt the very concept of speed within an area, causing the “popping” of Cadmium and Bendalloy time bubbles. Hemalurgy A spike made of Invar will steal competence of Physical or Mental Allomancy. Mental Inert - Billon (LEVELHEADER) (EGOBINDER) Allomancy When burned, gives the Allomancer the ability to “level” the emotions of people felt within an area (Bubble), for instance; an enraged individual in the same room as a calm individual will feel himself growing calmer, whereas the calm individual will begin to feel more agitated. It also finds an equilibrium with any Allomantic pulses within the area, for instance; a Seeker would be able to tell there is an Allomantic pulse coming from the “Bubble”, but would not be able to properly discern what Metal, or how many Allomancers are burning, almost a poor man’s Coppercloud. Duralumin forces all emotions within the Bubble on everyone within it, though this effect is weakened with more people in the Bubble. Billon burns relatively faster than other metals. Feruchemy When an Egobinder taps a Billonmind, it places all of their currently felt emotions into the Metalmind, leaving them in a relatively emotionless state. This is most commonly used to calm down in stressful situations, calm down, or negate biases felt by enflamed emotion. This is also a commonly used tactic to fight against Rioting and Soothing, as passively storing emotions allows one to feel a change in their feelings. Compounding Compounding a Billionmind causes a euphoric feeling with an extremely amplified feeling of the Tapped emotion, it is an addiction to many to store Happiness or Serenity and compound it later. This is also used to very quickly remove any negatively stored emotions. Hemalurgy A spike made with Billon will steal opinion (one’s feeling towards a specific subject), Intent is important here. This could theoretically make an incredible tool for a normal person making an Inquisitor. Enhancement Inert - Silver (DENIER) (SILVER GNAT) Allomancy When burned, causes the internal blood flow of the Allomancer to halt so long as the metal is being burned. This has no practical usage besides a very specific interaction with Hemalurgy, where it negates the ability to steal abilities with a spike. For instance, stabbing someone with a Spike. This process is harmful, as the Silver has a chance to rupture within the Allomancer if it is burned too much, or Flared. Duralumin causes spontaneous combustion. Silver burns very slowly, making it very unadvisable to consume, and when needed–in small amounts. Feruchemy A Silver Gnat cannot tap a Silvermind, as the Silvermind destroys whatever the attribute would have been stored. The attribute has been tested to be found, though people have never found a specific thing, some claim to be more passive after storing in a Silvermind, while others claim to feel less inclined to use Investiture. Compounding The effects of Compounding Silver have both an unknown, and impossible-to-achieve effect. Regardless of what the end result would be, the destructive nature of Silver releasing itself in the process of Compounding would likely cause damage to the Spiritweb of the individual. Hemalurgy A Spike made from Silver would steal competence in Enhancement Allomancy, however. due to the nature Silver has with Investiture, the attribute decays instantly after being stolen. Even if hammered directly into another person. This also damages the Spiritweb far more than a normal spike–essentially assuring death whereas standard Hemalurgy has a chance for the victim to live, even in a less-than-Drab state. Silver-headed arrows would likely be a very useful, and lethal tool for warfare. Temporal/Hybrid Inert - Tantalum (LIEBUSTER) (EVERWAITER) Tantalum would sometimes be called “Liar’s Antimetal” Allomancy Burning Tantalum works in two states, dubbed “Recording” and “Replaying”. A Liebuster will begin the process by burning Tantalum, creating the area affected by the ‘recording’ process, they will then continue burning Tantalum until the period of time they wish to record has finished. Flaring Tantalum will create an intangible replaying of the event, similar to the Lightweaving map of Shallan and Dalinar. Tantalum burns at a faster rate than most metals, a single vial only lasting around a minute, so it must be used wisely. Liebusters are–as their name suggests–often used to gain evidence in a case. Feruchemy An Everwaiter tapping a Tantalummind can store patience. Lieseekers would likely be highly sought-after for long-drawn stakeout tactics, a Tineye Everwaiter would likely be an extremely competent choice for a spy. (I consider this to be both a ‘physical’ and ‘mental’ attribute, thus keeping the balance) Compounding Compounding Tantalum would result in a massive–albeit temporary boost in one’s patience. There is a possibility this changes one’s Cognitive perception, making time seem to pass faster, though this is only a theory. Hemalurgy A spike of Tantalum would steal competence in Enhancement or Temporal Allomancy Spacial/Offbeat Internal Pushing - Gum Metal (ALLOCALLER) (NAYSAYER) Allomancy An Allocaller is capable of warping themselves to places of strong Connection. The level of Connection they must have is relative to the Allomancer. If someone has many weak Connections, the single highest Connection will be the one they warp to. Allocallers tend to forge a friendship/Connection with at least one person, warping to them when the need comes. Flaring Gum Metal allows an Allocaller to perceive who or what their highest Connections are to in the form of golden lines. If the thing is out of sight, it is clear in the Allomancer’s mind. Feruchemy A Gum–Metalmind would store resistance to the effects of Investiture. While being tapped it would leave one open to the influence of Rioting, Soothing, Shards, etc, in return for being near-immune while being Tapped. Compounding Compounding a Gum-Metalmind would give someone perfect immunity to all invested effects for a good amount of time. Some effects include immunity to; Shardblades, Duralumin-Rioting/Soothing, Hemalurgy, Shardic Intent (This could have strange implications for a Shard Vessel, though doing it to ignore the Shard’s Intent in itself is probably against the Shard’s Intent… I should make a Shard all about ignoring Hemalurgy A Gum Metal Spike would steal Offbeat Feruchemical powers Internal Pulling - Titanium (ITEMRIPPER) (HOODWINK) Allomancy An Itemripper burning Titanium is capable of warping things to them assuming they have a high Connection to it. Flaring Titanium allows the Itemripper to see golden lines connected to the things they have the strongest Connection to. If the thing is out of sight, it is clear in the Allomancer’s mind. Feruchemy A Hoodwink storing in a Titaniummind will store deception–or in technicality–an inverse Connection. A Hoodwink will have a slightly higher Connection to anyone in the surrounding area while storing deception–making them much more prone to being noticed, and lies detected; and when Tapping, lowering their Connection to those in the surrounding area, making it much easier for them to deceive individuals. Compounding Compounding a Titaniummind will have an extremely strange reaction, rather than increasing the effectiveness of a lie, it allows the user to lie to connection instead. This allows them to–for a brief moment, alter their own Connection, which would hypothetically allow one to burn the God Metal of any Shard. Hemalurgy A Titanium Spike would steal Aspirations, Emotions, and Intent. External Pushing - Stellite (PATHSHIFTER) (WOOTONGUE) Allomancy A Pathshifter burning Stellite will be able to “link” two objects that can be perceived as even partially metallic, causing them to be repelled from each other. (This is like if you combined Steel/Iron with Adhesion) Feruchemy A Wootongue is capable of storing charisma within a Stellitemind, specifically when speaking in conversation. The amount stored is directly proportional to how well the Wootongue is attempting to speak. Compounding Compounding Stellite would result in a large increase in one’s ability to convince or get their point across. There is a potential that this taps into Connection a slight amount to make the Wootongue more aware of what things they should say. Hemalurgy A Stellite Spike would steal Spacial Allomantic powers External Pulling - Tungsten (PICKPOCKET) (EVERTAPPER) Allomancy A Pickpocket burning Tungsten will be able to “link” two objects as above, however instead causes them to be pulled to each other. (This is like if you combined Steel/Iron with Adhesion) Tungsten burns rather quickly., Flaring it is often preferred as it burns the metal quickly and causes a very quick jolt from the two objects–though burning it normally causes a subtle enough pull to work over time, it’s a matter of preference. Feruchemy Tapping Tungsten is a very strange process, as it stores aging. This is not like Atium, which stores age itself–but rather the actual process of aging. One would have to keep tapping nonstop for years to properly get the effect desired. Compounding Compounding Tungsten causes all of the stored age to be instantly achieved, this process is as gruesome as it sounds and can lead to death. However, if calculated, this can bring one to a desired age. Hemalurgy A Tungsten spike would steal Initiation, or the progression of it if a one-to-one is impossible. For things like Snapping, this is a relatively useless trait to steal as the process of being Spiked would likely Snap a Misting anyway, but for a Surgebinder, it could instantly make one eligible for a higher Ideal. Inert - Nickel (CLEARBODY) (CLEANSER) Allomancy A Clearbody burning Nickel will have any trace of their being hidden, however, will be unable to move or use any other form of Investiture. This makes their body invisible and hides the trace of their Cognitive and Spiritual self, however, Allomantic Pulses will still be able to be seen by a seeker–unless the Clearbody is Flaring Nickel, which hides that as well. Nickel burns at a slow rate, a little faster than Tin. A Nickel Savant would likely permanently have part of their self always hidden, which would harm their ability to Connect with others. Feruchemy A Cleanser is able to use a Nickelmind to store Invested Abilities, such as Allomancy and Feruchemy. Storing those abilities would only store the metals the Cleanser can use. If a Cleanser stores their ability to use Feruchemy, the Metalmind would still be keyed to the Ferring but would be Untappable by said Ferring. Compounding Compounding a Nickelmind would result in a temporary boost in ability that would rapidly dwindle until returning to normal levels. This effect is similar to a Hemalurgy A Nickel Spike would steal any Inert metal’s trait, as Inert metals cannot be stolen properly with normal spikes. Additionally, it could also steal competence in Spacial Allomancy. As it stands, that's about what I have. I'll probably write each Vessel one by one and make their Investiture as I go. If you've made it this far, I'd love to hear criticism on some of these Misting/Ferring names because some of them feel awful. Until the Vessel of Order, ciao
  12. PART ONE; BIRIMANCY AND DEFINISM Birimancy is the main magic system of one of my novels; however, there are two ways to understand it; one which requires WAY too much explanation on lore and the likes, history, and mechanics of the magic system itself, and the Spoilerless one, the belief of the common person within the world, and the best they have to go on. Guess which one I will be outlining; The Spoilerless one! To start with... What is Birimancy? Birimancy is, again, the primary Magic System on the planet D'Ledias, using elements to create replicas of elements and alter natural ones. Birimancy ties heavily into Definism, a star-based religion, as well as the largest one. Below is the Pantheon, along with their associated Magic if they have one; SUNDHIA - SYPHUS - RANNAZEN or RANNA - TEBERIA - LIZEMON - SEFTEGAN or SEFTE - MONO - PERSONA or THE CREATOR PEROS - Now that the pantheon is out of the way, the Magics themselves, along with in-world terms. Each Magic in world has a name derived from an old, dead language (that physically cannot be spoken properly. Despite this, it was spoken properly in the past. Nobody knows how. They all up and died one night. Funky.) Fire Magic/Varamancy Water Magic/Swaimancy Earth Magic/Rebamancy Lightning Magic/Dizarmancy Light Magic/Flanamancy Shadow Magic/Janimancy Hypobiria/Biriris Now; earlier in the Swaimancy section I mentioned a 'more efficient' way existing, what did that refer to? I believe that's all I can say without getting into both advanced/spoiler territory. Ciao
  13. I would love to post it but I still don't know where it'd go on these forums
  14. Randomly came up with this thought, the interaction a Singer could have with their own, or someone else's Armorspren. As it stands we have two examples of a Radiant Singer, Rlain and Venli. We also know in the case of Venli that it is possible for the Form of the Singer to not match the Radiant order, allowing her to have the Forms of Power despite being bonded to Timbre, due to the latter suppressing the Voidspren. This makes me wonder, if a Singer reached the Fourth Ideal, could they bond with one of their own Armorspren? For instance, if the Voidspren in Venli's gemheart escaped/was let out, and she reached the Fourth, could she then bond with one of her own Armor-Joyspren to enter whatever that form would be? Could a singer bond with the Armorspren of another Radiant?
