  1. The only other way for a Shard to die that I can think of is if Endowment uses Ruin's Shardic power before giving the shard away when there's a bloodsealer on her, and that would only be a danger to Endowment. Or an unfortunate mislynch, but I'm sure you and the Shards will work to prevent that even though the rest of us don't know who the Shards are.
  2. No ratter how many questions Lu asked, the man remained silent while they traveled. He didn’t stayed quiet as they walked into Elantris and made their way to a strange pool. He didn’t respond to her questions of where they were when they emerged from it into a strange place that had definitely not been there before. He even seemed to ignore her when she refused to walk any further unless he gave her some answers. Finally, she gave up in exasperation and ran after him. By the time they got to a large city, Lu had given up on shouting at him and was muttering to herself under her breath. She was starting to regret going with this strange man. Despite her frustration, Lu couldn’t help but look around herself in wonder. Everything was so colorful. Everyone’s clothes were bright and varied. She almost didn’t notice a small figure walk up to her guide and hand him a piece of paper. He muttered something harsh-sounding under his breath. “What is it?” Lu asked despite herself, not really expecting an answer. “We’re late,” he said. I don’t really know what’s going on here, so I have nothing to add and I’m not going to vote. I’m sorry I haven’t been active. I’ll be able to do more next week.
  3. Sorry I haven’t posted until now. I don’t have much time now, so I’ll just add my two cents to the discussion going on. Ruin Killing Inactives While I think that killing players who are completely inactive is a good idea because it gets rid of dead weight and removes distractions, I’m not sure that this game is the best to do it in, at least immediately. In this game, there is a mechanic to get shards back from inactives, but if we kill them, the shard they hold will be shattered and only the investiture power for that shard will be usable (based on a clarification I got from Joe). I think it might be best for Ruin to wait until an inactive would forfeit their shard if they have one to kill them (of course, if they do forfeit a shard, Endowment will know they are in the clear, but they’re still dead weight). However, by then Ruin might have better guesses as to who the eliminators are anyway. Obviously, what Ruin does is up to his/her discretion. I’m just putting my thoughts out there. Aonar’s Plan Revealing all the shards would net us a lot of confirmed players that (I belive) only Odium could kill, and hopefully we could roleblock him before he does too much damage. However, it also maps out exactly who Odium should kill before we figure out who he is. We’d have to depend on specific shards to agree and to not go inactive, and we’d have to hammer out the details before it gets too late in the cycle. At least everyone (even those who haven’t posted) has been on the site since the game started, so hopefully everyone will see if we do decide to go with this plan. PM Groups I’m all for staying in the same worlds. It makes it more likely that there are worlds that don’t have any of Odium’s crew and gives them less leeway to spread out. Voting It looks like we’ve decided not to lynch anyone this cycle, which is fine with me since we’ve had other things to discuss. There is still an outstanding vote though: Peng (1): Jain This leaves the vote open to manipulation by Cultivation, but since Cultivation is a safe role, that probably doesn’t matter. Devotion can't invest in the same worldhopper twice, but there is not such restriction on Honor's Shardic or Investiture powers.
  4. Elantris looked down on Lu’s home with its shining walls. It was visible through her window, and Lu looked at it as she ate. It was beautiful, and its people majestic. She had never felt quite like she belonged here, but anyone could become an Elantrian. Perhaps one day she would wake to find herself an Elantrian and finally belong somewhere. But who was she kidding. She didn’t know where she came from, and only those of Arelish blood could become Elantrians. Even if she was Arelish, the chances of the Shaod taking her were tiny. A knock at the door startled Lu out of her thoughts. She wasn't expecting anyone. She went to answer it, and found a mysterious man on the other side. "Who are you?" she demanded. "Lu, isn't it?" he asked, walking around her into her home. He sat and leaned back in her chair. "Yes," she said slowly. "But—" “Great! It’s time to go.” He must have seen her confusion because he continued. “There’s trouble about. Word is Odium’s about to make his move. The Seventeenth Shard is gathering before things go too far. We need your help.” Lu didn’t understand most of what he said, but she laughed at the last sentence. “My help. I think you want one of the gods in that city over there.” She gestured through her window toward Elantris. “Nope, you.” He took a swig from Lu’s cup, then coughed onto the table. She scowled and stalked over to a drawer to grab a rag. “I just hope you do better than your parents did.” Lu froze. “You knew my parents?” She said each word deliberately. “Yep,” he replied. Lu crossed her arms expectantly, but the man grinned and shook his head. “We’re on a tight schedule here. I’m not saying anything until we’re on our way. I’ll give you ten minutes to pack your things, and then we’re out of here." “Fine!” She threw the rag at him, then stomped off. She didn’t have much reason to stick around here anyway. Question: Why isn't Mek in the player list?
  5. Someone brought this up a while ago and made a topic suggestion for the Cosmere, but it never got anywhere. Maybe if more people voted for it now, it could get enough attention to be made.
  6. Here's the WoB on this: (source)
  7. That was in response to me. That's understandable. Votes are just something I tend to pay attention to in particular. But I've messed up on vote tallies in the past, and that's without having to keep track of the rest of the game. I think you're doing a great job with it all. Also, Marand did retract his vote for Eoldren. The name is in green in his first sentence in this post. I hope I'm not getting too annoying. I don't quite follow the bolded part. He wasn't roleblocked last cycle, Aonar was. Alinel could easily have sent in the kill orders last cycle if he's a spy. It's possible he wouldn't because he had been roleblocked the cycle before. About guardsman numbers, if there's 4-5 that leaves less room for a fourth messenger or any of the unclaimed roles. If everyone is who they say they are, there's only one spot missing, and they are either a scout or a squad leader, or both of those roles are out of the game. Although, one of the claimed spearmen is probably lying. We could have started with three messengers who were all good, but it feels odd to me that the spies wouldn't have any with the lack of communication between spy teams. In the context of messaging in previous games, it's possible Wyrm gave us 3 to watch us kill them all because he figured we'd do that, but it makes the overall balance feel off to me. Then again, three good guards and a good surgeon with only one evil guard feels like an imbalance in protection to me, so I probably just don't know what I'm talking about. I think it's likely that Karlin protected Ace. If he was pretending to be Odysa, I'd take what he said with a grain of salt, and it's not like he had a partner to protect anymore. Also, I'm not entirely convinced that he didn't send in orders last cycle. I believe he was on at some point during last cycle, and he could have sent in orders without posting at the time and either meant to post closer to the end of the cycle but didn't have time or forgot that he had to post that cycle to survive. It's possible though. This cycle's been quieter than previous ones. I guess that's what comes of losing four people. We still haven't heard from Aonar, Eoldren, or Damon. I'm especially surprised about Aonar because he seems to be near the top of most people's suspicion lists, and remaining silent isn't likely to change that. I would be interested in hearing what Eoldren has to say since it seems he is good. I don't know what to make of Damon.
  8. 1. I was the guardsman who saved Alv. 2. Vote discrepancies: According to my notes, Odysa had a vote on Ace and Marand had a vote on Alinel. I don’t know if this was due to scouts, squad leaders, or simply a mistake. 3. Is there any reason Ace says he’s Roion’s man at the beginning of the writeup, while he’s listed as loyal to Aladar at the end of the writeup? 4. My lighteye vote was on Aonaran. I guess Ace’s was on Karlin then? 5. I don’t know whether the messenger I’m in contact with is a spy. I’m considering using my shardblade on them if I can’t be convinced of their innocence. How likely is it that we started with three messengers loyal to Dalinar? I suppose if there is a fourth messenger, the one I’m in contact with might not be a spy. If anyone other than Alv has been contacted by any messenger other than Marand, please step forward. 6. Current votes: Damon (2): Newan, Odysa, Mek Aonaran (2): Kaddar, Reihmer, Newan Odysa (1): Alinel Torwel (1): Reihmer, Kaddar Alinel (1): Jost 7. It’s really late and I’m way too tired to analyze any players right now.
  9. Since we've probably found all the lighteyed spies, it probably doesn't matter much as long as the vote isn't on someone who might be part of a tie, but I figured I should mention that my lighteye vote was on Alinel last cycle before I forget again. Joe, did you use yours last cycle? I really don’t have much time right now, but I’ll try to put something together. We have a few leads on who the spies can be. One is the guardsman who protected Ace. Obviously, anyone who has another role or who was roleblocked last cycle cannot be them. Another is Kas’s contact through Jain’s spanreed. I have no clue what to make of that. Another is the lack of kills during the previous battle. Torwel was roleblocked at the time, but due to the many possible reasons for the lack of kills, that might not mean anything. For the possible evil guardsmen, I think the most likely candidates are Reihmer or Aonaran. I’d particularly like to hear a defense from Aonar, since he’s been triggering my suspicions. I feel like he hasn’t had as much to say as he should. What connections has he noticed? Who can he link Ace to? Why hasn’t he said much? But there’s really not enough time left in the cycle to get a response from either. I’m worried about what Karlin is doing. He seems to be posting the minimal amount to be active, and he’s been on, so I suspect he will make a last-minute post to keep from being killed from inactivity. No one will try to lynch him because it looks like he’ll die anyway, but then he’ll be saved last-minute and we still won’t have anything from him to figure out his alignment. I really can’t tell if he’s feigning inactivity or just not paying attention to the game. I guess we'll see if he posts something this cycle. I'm pretty suspicious of Alinel. It feels like he's holding back and trying to hide. Of course, he can't be the guardsman. I am uneasy about the vote for Marand. I never really like pushing a vote for someone through when they won’t have a chance to defend themselves (he was on this morning, but I doubt he had time to compose a response to Wilson at that time). However, given the cycle end time there might not be a way we can help that with any of our suspects. I still feel like we should give him a chance to respond to Wilson’s suspicions. He looks suspicious, but so did Wilson when people went looking for inconsistencies in what she said, and I am in no way convinced that he’s a spy. For those who have voted for him, I hope you’re really certain he’s a spy. And now Ace is doing ... something.
  10. I want to make sure the messengers are in contact with who they say they are. Also, I suggest that everyone who receives a code word does something similar (if they haven't already) to establish that the messenger actually has contact with me, and anyone who is in contact with a messenger and does not receive a code word should come forward. Without revealing who the messengers are, there's only do much that is possible. However, I'll keep my eye on the votes, especially close to the end if the cycle, and do my best to keep them from being lynched needlessly. Their contacts should also try to pick other suspects over them for the lynch unless they really think the messenger is a spy.
  11. I'll start out by saying that Ace was wrong about me saving Kaddar. I'm inclined to believe that it was Eoldren at this point. (Also, is it possible that the attack on Kaddar came from a sabotage attempt that carried over from when he skipped battle? Would a watchman see the person who sabotaged when the kill happened, in that case, or when the sabotage order was first placed?) It's possible that he wanted to make his deduction known to all of the spies for in case they would pretend to be the guard if no one stepped up. All of the docs don't necessarily have communication with each other, after all.Edit: Also, I have given each of the messengers who have contacted me code words to give the the players the had previously contacted. In order to see that they received the code words, I would like the contacts to each either include the word in their next post or begin their next post with the first letter if the code word, whichever is easier.
  12. I'm not suspicious! You all know I'm not engaging in any deception, at least. Because of the shardblade, you know....
  13. From what I can tell, this is how the votes stand right now: Marand (1): Reihmer Odysa (2): Mek, Newan Ace (5): Norlav, Eoldren, Jost, Odysa, Kenara Jost (3): Aonaran, Ace, Torwel Karlin (1): Kaddar Reihmer (1): Marand (Kaddar, I don't think you retracted your vote for Karlin.) Also, yes I used the lighteye vote on Jasnah, so the tie is accounted for. I hope we're not lynching our Surgeon. At this point, I think I trust Alv more than Ace, but I'm still uneasy. It could go either way. There's not much more coordination we can do with protection at this point in the cycle. Hopefully the spy kill will be blocked. Wilson's analysis of lighteye roles matches what I had already thought, but we probably don't want to put too much stock into what seems balanced when there could be other less symmetric ways of balancing.
  14. I’m sorry I haven’t been on yet. I have been having issues accessing the site (I can only get on it on my phone). Also, I’m going to be really busy until Thursday. If you still want to use me as a contact for the Messengers, I’ll do my best to stay caught up and keep communication flowing. I’ve read through all the posts, but I haven’t really had time to think about them. The only observation I have about any of the players is that Kas talks a lot. I think there’s been too much focusing on trying to lynch the Lighteyes. If there’s a misstep there, it could cost us our Surgeon, and I don’t think their Officer is enough of a threat to be worth that risk. So I’m pretty worried that the three leaders in votes are two Lighteyes (one of which has claimed to be the Surgeon, the other which probably hasn’t yet seen that claim), and someone who everyone seems to think is not worth killing. Also, we need to finish our accounting of the Lighteyes’ vote (that really should start earlier in the cycle when there’s a tie). Jost has yet to say where he put his vote last cycle. Ace didn’t mention voting last cycle, even though he gave names for the other two cycles. Ace, did you use the Lighteye vote last cycle? I think I should go last since I’m confirmed to be loyal to Dalinar. Another thought is that if we’re using me as a test of Ace’s loyalty, there’s a chance I could die, and if I die when any Messengers contact me, that will be a waste of a cycle for them. If the Messengers are going to contact me, then the good Surgeon (assuming there is one) should protect me, whether it’s Ace or not. Also, does anyone have any thoughts on how I should use my Shardblade?
  15. This WoB talks about something that opposed Adonalsium. However, as far as I know we don't know anything about it except that it's still around. We don't know if it's a force or an organization or how much power it has. We don't even know if it was responsible for the shattering or could be considered a "big bad".
  16. If you think Kaddar really is the Wit, and you really are a Watchman, and you want a lynch, you could move your vote to Odysa... I'm not caught up enough with everything to throw out a last-minute vote. On another note, neither Kaddar nor Ace were mentioned in the writeup that started week 2 either (and Jain wasn't mentioned as being present), so I'm not sure we can draw any conclusions from their absence in both writeups.
  17. Apparently none that Brandon could think of when he was asked that question.
  18. Koloss Head-Munching Day?
  19. *sigh* I am way too tired to not misread everything, or to be able to keep up with the discussion. Kas and Joe, who did you put the Lighteye vote on? It might not be very important, but it could help us know what Jain did with his (and knowing what one spy did would be good). Also, we should probably figure out if we need a different plan for the vote if nobody's following it.
  20. Wow, Jain actually was a spy. I guess that breaks his streak. It looks like people said how there could have been no kills. I think there is also a possibility that a team decided not to sabotage in order to obfuscate the number of spies since it was pointed out that the number of people who died would give us that information, but since even they don't know the number of spies that seems less likely. It would only take one pair of people deciding to do that for it to happen though. I am wondering why two lighteyes have said that battle would be a worse time to skip combat than a skirmish. It might be true that it is less likely for them to be targeted during battle, but that takes guesswork, and if they are targeted at all during a battle, they will die, so it could be good to make a potential sabotage attempt carry over to a skirmish, when there is a chance that they wouldn't be the one to die. Also, I think we should account for what happened with the lighteye vote, since it appears it was a tie. I think each lighteye should say who they placed that vote on.
  21. Well, when I press Ctrl A because I suspect there might be white text, I notice it... I suggested Jasnah because Meta had already suggested Jasnah/Damon because an inactive is a good place to put the vote when we're specifically trying to make it so that it doesn't affect the outcome, and because no one else has been actually suggesting anything for it and we really should figure out who the lighteye vote is going to earlier than a few hours before the cycle ends. So you still want to lynch Jain over Odysa? How suspicious are you of her? Also, Jain is a lighteyes and if he's innocent, lynching him could lead to spy vote manipulation. If the lighteyes aren't going with the plan of keeping that vote together (like you, apparently), that might not matter, or it might make it matter so much more. I'm going to withhold my vote this cycle because I feel like it's too late in the cycle for me to vote when I don't have particularly strong suspicions. I agree that a lynch could give us useful information, but if it's just a matter of two people voting for someone they only kind of suspect, it might not be helpful. If other people want to cause a lynch, I won't do anything to stop them.
  22. Real quick right now, as I'm in my phone. Joe, as I pointed out to Kas last night, Mailliw retracted his vote for Wilson, so she isn't a viable lynch choice right now. Also, Wilson's vote is on Winter Cloud right now, not Jasnah, and Jasnah might be the choice for the lighteye lynch. I just want to make sure your analysis is based on correct information. Edit: Color
  23. I don't have much time now, but I'll say a few things. First, there's just over three hours left in the cycle. Are we going to go for a lynch? There's five people with a vote each on them. We can't keep tying the votes if we want to learn anything, but I think it's a bit late in the cycle to start anything. Since we'll likely learn a lot from the deaths and shardblade distribution this cycle, as it's a battle, and we're not sure of anything, perhaps we don't need a lynch yet. Second, there hasn't been a decision for where the Lighteye vote should go. There's been a little discussion, but no decision. That needs to be decided in time for all of the Lighteyes to send the order in, and hopefully have a chance to give input too. Should it be Jasnah, since she's the only one who hasn't posted yet this cycle who hasn't been voted for? Your insistence that you have to seem good looks fishy to me after you suspected Kas because of him saying he was good as part of his analysis. Personally, I think it looks manipulative, even though you said you haven't been manipulating people this game. Also, if you know your own tells so well, then I'd expect them to at least be less prominent, if not completely absent, the next time you're an eliminator.
  24. I’m really sorry I haven’t been active. Every time I’ve had a chance to get on, I’ve barely had time to read the posts, and I haven’t had time to figure anything out. My only thought regarding why Ash could have been killed was the one Kas brought up. I don’t know what to think about everyone being suspicious of him because of that. Something about Wilson has been on my radar, but I think that’s just an unfounded feeling. I might just be being influenced by everyone else though. It might have something to do with how she keeps insisting that it’s obvious she’s on Dalinar’s side, even though no one else seems to think so. She said that her playstyle this game is different from how she plays when she’s evil, but is it the same as how she has played in the past when she’s good? I don’t really know well enough to say. Anyway, I think we’re focusing too much on the Lighteyes. If we lynch the good Lighteyes, that will make it easier for the spies to manipulate the vote. I don’t know what to say about anyone else though. Also, there’s an error in Kas’s vote tally. Maill retracted his vote for Wilson.
