I think that the effect caused by the Fabrial is determined by three things: the type of gem, the cut of the gem, both of which determine the type of spren trapped, and possibly the position of the gem relative to others in the fabrial. The setting then determines how the power is accessed.

I'm not too bothered by the release because Tor deliberately released parts of the book which would not spoil anything majorly. Most of the released material is character or plot building but not a huge amount else.

I think it's clearly not a normal thing, otherwise it wouldn't be capitalised. But I have no idea what the Memories could be. Possibly some link to her surgebinding, like the storage of a memory in Shadesmar?

I think that this is just a design. It is not really legible at all, even after the letters have been sharpened. Easter eggs have to make sense, this doesn't really. Good catch though. -

I would be surprised if Kaladin was not a major viewpoint in the second arc as I think he is being groomed to be Honor's champion. -
Chromium/chromium or zinc/zinc. Or whatever combination lets me do ftl travel,

How would one go about killing a Compounding Spinner? (Aside from atium)
Cromptj replied to DoctorWh0m's topic in Mistborn
This is easy, you clearly borrow Rand. Otherwise, you might want to try a nicrosil misting or check moaning them with an unwinnable situation. The luck probably would not affect someone or something with a very high investiture, so send Vasher and Nightblood?- 56 replies

I have one problem with this theory, Brandon is clearly Hoid but he disguises himself as Peter using lightweaving and disguises Peter as him to avoid assassination attempts. Peter is the alias of Galladon who uses aons to disguise his glowiness. EDIT: the rest of the writing excuses team are the original members of the 17th shard, apart from Mary, who joined later because they picked her up from Vedenar on their way through. It's the hair, you can always tell.

That has to be Syl and Kaladin. No one I can think of is genuinely that arrogant. Oh, but it could be Navani speaking to Adolin about Renarin.

I think Jasnah might pull a Gandalf and come back a few parts later with a power up or some new knowledge. I would be very surprised if Brandon went the way of GRRM and started killing off people to keep the book moving, so I would think that the Kholins are safe, apart from Dalinar, unless a bunch of them die in a desolation, since at least two of them definitely have the potential to be KR.

For whatever reason, uncut gems cannot hold as much stormlight as cut gems, plus cut gems look pretty and sparkle more

Gross question:Why not soulcast from the latrines?
Cromptj replied to priceless's topic in Stormlight Archive
I would guess that the reason that they don't soulcast the latrines or dead bodies into food is that it is taboo. Also, would you really want to eat something that used to be your poo. -
Gross question:Why not soulcast from the latrines?
Cromptj replied to priceless's topic in Stormlight Archive
If they ever needed more rocks, they could just dig some out of the ground, Roshar is basically just rock. Besides, the latrines themselves produce suitable rocks in their construction. -

Please tell me Lift gets a series, or at least a book. -
Thanks for that, I didn't mean to be pushy, I just wanted to make sure this theory had an actual basis and was not founded on a misremembering of a quote. The fabrials don't necessarily seem to use all the same surges as surgebinding though. There is no surge I know of which can augment the strength of materials like certain fabrials can. Also, the emotion bracelet doesn't seem to fit any of the surges. I think that the fabrials vs surgebinding are a bit lie feruchemy vs allomancy. They use the same materials as the base of their powers, and some of them have fairly similar effects, but some of the powers are completely different and weird.

If Renarin is actually female, I could not see the benefits of him posing as a man. Dalinar already had a son so no other was needed to inherit his title and I could not see Dalinar allowing his daughter to pretend to be a boy. If Renarin is transgendered, Dalinar would have forced him to join the Ardentia a long time ago. This would conceal this adequately from everybody and also suit Renarin's interests.

Yeah but I would be the only portable source of stormlight, other than Lift, who I imagine would not cooperate very well. Plus I bet that the Nightwatcher could not prevent me from turning to voidbinding, securing infamy as the newest member of the Ten (eleven now?) Fools.

But to clarify, where did Brandon specifically said that the third system of magic was related to fabrials?

The first message was written in glyphs if I remember correctly, so this one probably is too.

I would ask for the inability to procrastinate. Alternatively, I'd probably ask to be a Windrunner, or to be able to turn food into stormlight. The savings on lighting alone would probably be worth it.

I live in Britain, so I generally end up buying the DVDs or Netflix but that seems to not have anime any more in Britain. But there's Revolutionary Girl Utena, Aria (not strictly shoujo but has some shoujo themes), Rose of Versailles, Marimite, Escaflowne, Cardcaptor Sakura, Rayearth, Honey and Clover, Mawaru Peguindrum, Eden of the East, and I've heard good things about Nana. Hopefully at least one of those is available. EDIT: and Shinsekai yori.

But what are the chances that they would find so many similarly sized and shaped blocks of stone in neat rows, on 10 adjacent plateaus?
