Makes sense, good logical deduction.

So at this point, it could be one or the other, or both, or something else with these two as side effects. Resonances get more and more frustrating the more you look into them. For Windrunners, the Resonance was said to have more squires than average, but it's later stated that the true Resonance of the Adhesion and Gravitation is the Reverse Lashing. So the Surgebinders have just a variety of Resonances to pick from.

I asked Chat GPT about Shards (SHARD WORLDS!?)

I asked Chat GPT about Shards (SHARD WORLDS!?)
Underwater_Worldhopper replied to Argenti's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It did a much better job when I asked it: Name all known shardworlds ChatGPT Here are all the known Shardworlds in the Cosmere universe: Sel - This is the world of the Elantris novel, where the Shards Dominion and Devotion were once held. Scadrial - This is the world of the Mistborn series, where the Shards Preservation and Ruin were held. Nalthis - This is the world of the Warbreaker novel, where the Shard Endowment is held. Roshar - This is the world of The Stormlight Archive series, where the Shards Honor, Cultivation, and Odium are held. Taldain - This is the world of the White Sand graphic novel series, where the Shards Autonomy is held. Threnody - This is the world of the Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell novella. First of the Sun - This is the world of the Sixth of the Dusk novella. There are also several other planets and star systems that have been mentioned or hinted at in various Cosmere works, but their names and details have not yet been fully revealed. -

Good catch! -
I think the Lightweaver Resonance was actually confirmed by WoB to be Connecting with things in a way that gives them perfect recall of it later, which is what Shallan's Memories are. The 'changing people's attitudes depending on how you see them' must be a side effect of this Resonance (maybe the other way round, but I think its less likely than the converse)
-
Oh, so the birth thing isn't confirmed? I've been thinking about the modified Snapping recently, I got excited thinking he finally confirmed what it was

Copper and Tin are both internal metals, so I doubt it. If you could though, Pulling on other people's senses would make them better, like with A-Tin, not make them blind or deaf. It's not really agelessness in any way, since from your perspective you're still spending an equal amount of time old and young, but it would be very effective as a disguise, so yet another Twinborn who could be very good as a spy of sorts. Anyone else getting suspicious about how many Twinborn have spy-relevant abilities? I think you couldn't store those since they're a different kind of sense. Google gives two relevant definitions of sense: 1. a faculty by which the body perceives an external stimulus; one of the faculties of sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch. e.g. "the bear has a keen sense of smell which enables it to hunt at dusk" 2. a feeling that something is the case. e.g. "she had the sense of being a political outsider" Number 1 is what you would store in a Tinmind, which is sense as a synonym of perception, so things like the five senses, plus some less-known ones like proprioception. Number 2 is what Riina takes from Hoid, which is sense as a synonym of awareness. The first one is a means for detection, the second one is a knowing of something. A Tinmind could store the first, but not the latter. Edit: quick response to Mip67's post that I didn't see before; touch and pain are two different things: What we call touch is the Tactile Sense, and what we call pain is Nociception. I don't think you could make all pain go away by storing Tactile Sense alone, but you could by storing nociception (take this last part with a grain of salt, I'm not 100% sure)

You could still do it by really stuffing yourself with Electrum before a Nicroburst uses Nicrosil on you (maybe combined with the Nicroburst being full of Nicrosil and a second Nicroburst using Nicrosil to hyper-flare the first Nicroburst's power, which is gonna make the Electrum Super-Hyper-flare), and Presumably Gold would work as well since you're looking into the past assumedly by way of Connections to your past, just the same way Atium or Electrum utilize Connections going into the future. Doesn't seem too hard, as long as you have at least 2 Mistings and a BUNCH of Electrum and Nicrosil. Not to mention the fact that the Oracle (and potentially an Augur as well, but those would be more expensive, since they would need more Gold per run, and aren't confirmed to be able to see the SR) would then be seeing the Spiritual Realm unfiltered, which gives you perfect and Shard-like future vision, at least for the near future, plus reasonably accurate versions of the future a little bit past that, continuing on until the far future, which is so uncertain its useless to see it. So very useful and worth trying, beyond just the Scholarly potential

There's a WoB that says only metals that have an area of effect give that kind of effect in a grenade. So charging a grenade (Primer Cube is what it's actually called) with Tin or Pewter and activating it would just give whoever is holding it the effects of burning Tin or Pewter. The Cubes we see only have an area-of-effect effect because we see them using metals that affect at a distance, like Cadmium/Bendalloy bubbles, or Steelpushing. The WoB says that eventually, proper area-of-effect Cubes could be made with technological progress, but the ones we see used would act the aforementioned way. It works with Feruchemy too. That's how the Malwish Skimmer ships get light enough to fly. A charge of F-Gold just wouldn't act as an AOE, it would only heal the person who was holding it. 360, but could maybe be changed with the right Intent. The Allomantic charge could certainly degrade since we see in things like Stormlight that Investiture defuses like a gas following a pressure differential. The Cube will use all of its charge after it is activated, but it slowly loses that charge over time when not used. However, I think you're a bit off regarding the all-or-nothing bit. You can't control the strength of the Cube very well, only how long it works. The Cube likely has a 'Burn Rate' at which it expends its charge once activated, so even if it's only 50% full, it'll still work, just for half its usual time, a quarter for 25%, etc. As for the Allomantic strength, you could presumably make it work at specific strengths, but only by charging it for a very short time corresponding to the strength you want, which wouldn't be very useful since it would only take effect for an extremely short time, but you could still use it for things like Steelpushes or Ironpulls of specific strengths. It wouldn't quite work how you're suggesting with the Tin, but Brandon has suggested that is indeed the direction Primer Cube technology is going.

Thanks, so the Mario-jump Death From the Skies move is still viable. Good to know next time I'm a Skimmer squaring up.
-
Too sciency for me to bother trying to understand this late at night (even though I literally JUST did momentum in school) but from what I recall F-Iron seems to act a bit inconsistently across the different Eras
-
Does your strength decrease if you make yourself lighter with F-Iron or can you super jump? 'Cause if you can, why punch at all when you can just Mario-Jump over your enemy and then make yourself as heavy as a freight train and squish them? Bit messy, sure, but effective.
-
It can't be that one unless it was somehow made with an Intent to give it that sort of limited sentience, because for Investiture to take on a mind of its own, it has to happen over an extremely long period of time, and preferably with a LOT of Investiture, otherwise it would take even longer. That one seems much more likely, at least to me

You have a point. I'm starting to wonder if a Kandra could just fully become human that way, internalising the character they're playing so hard that they become an actual bona-fide human, like you said. Seems plausible, to be honest.

Ideas for Scadrien Invested Technology
Underwater_Worldhopper replied to Trusk'our's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If you had a full, unkeyed Brassmind, then used Raysium to transfer it's Investiture into a Heating Fabrial, could you make it work? We know that Fabrials can work on Investiture other than Stormlight, like Voidlight, Towerlight, Warlight, and presumably Lifelight, so maybe?- 16 replies

Zirconium: Allomancy: External, Mental, Pulling An Allomancer burning Zirconium will cause a Zirconium bubble (about the same size as a Bendalloy bubble) to appear in a circle around the Allomancer, who can then hear the thoughts of anyone inside the bubble. Smokers actively burning Copper are immune, alongside anyone standing within 2 feet of them; the immunity does not transfer to the entirety of the Coppercloud. Flaring Zirconium will allow for bigger bubbles. Leaving the bubble will not affect the bubble itself, and the Zirconium will continue to burn, but the Misting will no longer be able to hear the thoughts of those within. However, those still within the bubble will then be able to hear each others thoughts. Anyone inside wearing an Aluminum-lined hat will be exempt from both projecting their thoughts and hearing the thoughts of others. Zirconium burns extremely quickly: an average vial of Zirconium flakes will burn up within five minutes. A Zirconium Misting is called a Sleuth. A Zirconium Savant can anchor their bubble to themselves (allowing them to move the bubble with them), create slightly larger bubbles, and can let one person that they are touching also listen. However, a Savant Sleuth's facial recognition deteriorates immensely, they have trouble understanding what someone is saying, and often suffer migraines when not Burning. Becoming a Zirconium Savant is uniquely difficult, however. Wearing an Aluminum-lined hat will protect a person's thoughts from being heard. If the Sleuth wears an Aluminium-lined hat, they will no longer be able to hear anyone's thoughts, even if they are burning. Tin Feruchemy allows hearing thoughts to be stored in a Tinmind, preventing a Sleuth who is also a Windwhisper from hearing thoughts for the duration of storing. Once tapped, a Windwhisper Ferring may draw forth the ability without needing to burn Zirconium, but can only listen to one individual at a time, and the individual must be within line of sight. There is no limit on how far away a Windwhisper can be while listening however, beyond the practical limitation of visibility. A Zirconium-Tin Twinborn is known as a Stalker. Feruchemy: Physical A Zirconiummind stores size. A Zirconium Ferring, when filling a Zirconiummind, will shrink. Said Zirconium Ferring, known as a Sizesmith, can only store up to 99% of their size at any given time. When tapping, a Sizesmith grows in size, with no upper limit. The Feruchemy will protect the Ferring from the effects of the Square-Cube law, as well as preventing them from freezing when storing. The Sizesmith's proportions, weight, and strength remain the same regardless of size. Hemalurgy: Spiritual When used as a Hemalurgic spike, Zirconium steals innate Fortune. The recipient recieves a diluted form of Fortune, and can use it to parse auspicious times and places to be, although much more weakly and vaguely than true Fortune. When a pair of Zirconium spikes are given to a Kandra, it is known as the Blessing of Foresight. Zircaloy (95% Zirconium, 5% Tin): External, Mental, Pushing Allows an Allomancer to create a bubble (around the size of a Cadmium Bubble) around themselves, within which any individual can hear the thoughts of the Allomancer. Smokers actively burning Copper and people within their immediate vicinity (around 2 feet in diameter) are unable to hear the Allomancers thoughts; this effect does not translate to the entire Coppercloud. Flaring Zircaloy will allow for larger bubbles. Leaving the bubble will not cause the bubble to collapse so long as the Misting continues to burn Zircaloy, but everyone within will then be able to hear each others thoughts. A Zircaloy Misting is known as an Openheart. If the Openheart wears an Aluminium-lined hat, the bubble will produce no effect. Anyone wearing an Aluminum-lined hat will not be able to hear the Openheart's thoughts. A Zircaloy Savant can anchor their bubble to themselves, allowing it to move with them. They can also control the size of their bubble immensely, and while they cannot make it larger than they normally could, they can shrink it to within one foot of themselves. A Savant Openheart can also project the thoughts of one other person alongside themselves. However, a Zircaloy Savant gets brain fog when trying to communicate without burning, begin to feel dissociated from themselves, and suffer migraines when not Burning. A Windwhisper can store hearing an Openheart's thoughts in a Tinmind, and will be unable to hear their thoughts while storing. Once a Windwhisper taps the sense however, they can hear whatever the Openheart is thinking at the time, regardless of where they are or if they're burning. This can allow an Openheart to telepathically communicate with a Windwhisper by projecting their thoughts at them while they are tapping. Feruchemy: Mental A Zircaloy Ferring, known as an Unraveller, can store Sanity in a Zircaloymind. While storing, they become irrational, erratic, manic, paranoid, and unstable. When tapping, they become extremely rational, stable, and (for lack of a better term) predictable. When tapping an Unraveller becomes increasingly immune to Emotional Allomancy until they are no longer affected by it at all, while still being extremely perceptive about which emotions are being manipulated by letting them differentiate between their actual emotions and the affected ones. When storing, however, an Unraveller becomes extremely susceptible to Emotional Allomancy. Storing 100% of their Sanity is extremely dangerous for them, as they can at that point be completely controlled by a Soother or Rioter, exactly like the Koloss or Kandra, and once that is done they will be completely subjugated by the Soother, who can keep them from stopping their storage. This can only happen when they are 100% insane however, and so can be prevented rather easily. When combined with Unsealed Metalmind technology, Sanity can be tapped by people who suffer from mental illnesses to restore them to a neurotypical state of mind for the duration of tapping. This can be a bit jarring for some and feel artificial, like Soothing someone in mourning's grief and then Rioting their happiness, but for disorders that are mainly physiological, it could be genuinely beneficial. Hemalurgy: Mental When used as a spike, Zircaloy steals Sanity. When the recipient is spiked, they immediately become more stoic, more in control of their emotions, and any mental deterioration they may have endured from being spiked is reduced. They are also more resistant to Hemalurgic Control. A pair of Zircaloy spikes when given to a Kandra are known as the Blessing of Sanity Synergy: When Zirconium and Zircaloy bubbles overlap, they cancel out due to destructive interference, causing neither bubble to produce any effects. -
Now that I think about it, Could Sazed have not turned the Mistwraiths back into humans again? Like he should've reverted at least some of them, enough to restore their sentience but still leaving enough Mistwraiths that they wouldn't die out. Come to think of it, could he already have done that? We see no mention of them anywhere in the Wax and Wayne books, and he didn't exactly intend to make more Kandra
