  1. Brandon's also mentioned on Writing Excuses that there are classical Alethi names as well as the holy ones that aren't palindromic, thus Dalinar and company.
  2. They might be getting the skin switched over to the Firefight theme?
  3. Welcome back man! I don't think we have any more information apart from that. I personally think it's through Shadesmar because the Heralds have no choice but to return when they die, so a physical journey seems less likely for a disembodied spirit. I don't believe it can be simply Elsecalling though, because if the two Heralds with that power get killed in the Desolation, the other Heralds would have no way to return. But yeah, no specific clues at this time.
  4. Personally, if every Shard has a unique color, I'm skeptical that Honor's would be blue. Elantris Spoilers
  5. Brandon is far more popular now than he was then. When he sold a book the publisher fit it in their schedule when it was convenient for them, which often meant months or years before it hit the shelves. Now that Beandon is more popular, they release his books as soon as they are able.
  6. I think that this is fairly strong evidence that the Returned consuming a Breath for the week is an instantaneous process rather than a weeklong slow feeding. I suppose it might be possible to argue around it, but I think it would be a bit of a stretch.
  7. I imagine he's repurposed a lot of the ideas. The whole Shattered Plains thing was initially a Dragonsteel concept but migrated over to the Stormlight Archive. And Brandon's a better storyteller now, so if he thinks the story is better told in fewer books than he thought he would need as a less experienced author, I'm inclined to trust him. And anyways, that's more books he can write other places!
  8. There are already plenty of people who help out on the editing and revising. He lists them off in the acknowledgements in each book. The problem is that there is only so much that they can do. They can give feedback, explain where they're lost or confused, find plot holes and such, but at the end of the day the only person who can fix those sorts of things in the appropriate way is Brandon.
  9. Unless I'm mistaken, Brandon's contradicted himself on the topic, so we're really not too sure about the right answer there.
  10. The double eye thing is actually mentioned briefly in the Way of Kings, by Shallan, I believe. I'll see if I can find it tomorrow.
  11. Fall of 2015 sometime is what I've heard. Nothing more specific yet.
  12. The CATpatcha is broken? That's too bad, I really liked that one.
  13. Josh is well aware of that. Either the use of spoiler tags for quick reference or a spoiler warning in the topic title will suffice until we get closer to release. If you come across an unmarked spoiler, feel free to report it so we can take care of it:)
  14. When did we get confirmation that the moons are artificial? Also I just figured that it's a cool shape that Brandon thought would make for a fun world map, so he used it and thought it'd be a neat Easter Egg for mathematicians.
  15. Well they would be the last ten highstorms prior to the return of the Voidibringers and the Everstorm, which is significant in and of itself.
  16. They've gotten close, but it doesn't matter. They spell something in another language, Alethi or maybe even the Dawnchant. So got example when the Bridge Four glyph was analyzed, it was an Alethi word, so if we didn't already know we were looking at the word "bridge" we wouldn't have known what it meant. Honestly they probably just spell out Jeseh, Shash, and Ishi in a stylized way.
  17. Any Coinshot or Lurcher could develop the ability to see like an Inquisitor with enough time and practice. I think it's probably just a savant level ability.
  18. I love this! Although, perhaps I am mistaken but I thought "h" could be used with any letter and there was some sort of diacritical mark added to it so that it was pronounced as "h"?
  19. It also clears up questions that people often have about whether or not it's part of the cosmere by blatantly stating it. It's also one more way for people to start to pick up on that. If they see this online they might go, "What's the cosmere? Is that a series Brandon's done that I haven't heard about?" Which is only going to make more people figure it out. Others could recognize the term crossover from The Way of Kings. Brandon's not making people figure it all out, but he's slowly opened the door to allow casual readers to start to figure out that all his books are connected without having to read the interviews, which is only a good thing in my opinion.
  20. Peter has cast doubt on whether or not we should consider Hoid in that count.
  21. That's probably at least part of the reason. The other one I can think of off the top of my head is that the value of spheres is, in theory, supposed to correlate with Soulcasting value. That's why emeralds are worth the most. Soulcasting using a smokestone would produce smoke, which is not very valuable at all, so perhaps they simply never introduced it as currency. To be fair, we don't even know where this currency is derived from in the first place, so there could potentially be some other reason as well. The fact that there is Soulcast meat around also implies to me that heliodors are used as spheres too, so I really do think that it is smokestone that is not used.
  22. Welcome to 17th Shard Luna! I would definitely suggest The Alloy of Law as your next read. It's fun to see the callbacks to the original Mistborn trilogy in it. I'd personally save The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance for last, because I think they're Brandon's strongest and best works.
  23. We haven't received a definitive answer. Some think that she doesn't count the light from diamonds as a color. I tend to disagree with that because of the fact there are five levels of gem value in spheres and emeralds are said to be the highest. Not one of the highest, the highest. Smokestone and heliodor spheres are never mentioned, so we can't know for sure.
  24. Well, another thing to remember is that every building is built with a stronger eastern side. They are lower and stronger on that side and when the storms come, everything is all battened down for the storm. Other buildings are built in laits on the leeward side of rock formations and mountains, so they don't have to be strong. So if you can imagine an unexpected highstorm blowing the wrong way against buildings not built to stand up to winds from that direction, it's not a surprise that stuff is getting wrecked.
  25. Binding errors aren't all that uncommon when so many books are being printed. And it's really more Tor's worry than Brandon's.
