  1. I'm not following your problem with them being lost. Even if Bleeder didn't carry them far, you'd be hard pressed to find a common man or woman who'd leave solid gold jewelry laying in a street. Even amongst the constables, if one found them, Wax and Wayne aren't exactly popular, so I wouldn't be surprised if an individual quietly kept them for resale later. If you really think it's an error, you should probably mention it in the errors thread, if you haven't already.
  2. The Hoid scene is a totally separate little scene at the very end of the book, past the Ars Arcanum and everything. I'm not going to type it up or copy and paste because I think it's one of the selling points of the book, and I don't feel comfortable doing that. Bookstores will probably have it, you don't even have to buy the book. It's quite short, two pages long at most, but probably closer to one and a half.
  3. I'd say the Shard's Decision is exactly what it sounds like. The Shard decides who gets to be a magic user. Warbreaker Spoilers Also, I think the skaze run a lot of stuff in the Fjordell Empire behind the scenes. They certainly advised Dilaf on Elantrian at least. I've always felt that they are more politically minded.
  4. From my understanding, Brandon never finished them. It's not so much of a surprise, considering that he's a bestselling author and one of the dominant authors in the genre right now. Back when he was less well-known, he had more time for this sort of thing. I wouldn't expect annotations for a long time, if ever.
  5. Yeah, that Orson Scott Card quote has been on the back of Elantris for a decade. It's unrelated. I am excited for more Steris though.
  6. Yeah, it's in the Brettin article! I don't think it's been confirmed to be an intentional thing, so perhaps Sazed was making use of a stroke of fortune?
  7. I doubt that it is Aslydin. If Demoux isn't mentioned as having a mural there, then I'd be surprised if his wife, who played a less significant role in the books at least, gets one. My money is on Beldre. It fits with the Lord Mistborn title.
  8. As I said in the reactions topic, the face drawn reminded me of Stormlight Spoilers
  9. Whoa, where was Hoid? I totally forgot to look for him. The new metal and all its implications were my favorite part. I really don't know what to think there. I don't think it's Odium, but that is just a gut reaction. Also, did it explain how Paalm used spikes to speak directly into someone's mind? Or was that just tied in with her mysterious spike? Was it her that spoke through Miles at the end of Alloy? Seems unlikely. She also devised a new Hemalurgic construct, which she definitely didn't learn from the Lord Ruler. Harmony's more active role this time was cool to see as well. And Steris really did come into her own. She and Wax may just turn into an awesome couple still. I was intrigued by the "mixed" ability of Twinborn as well. They may be subtle, but if each is unique there are 256 more potential quiet powers we know nothing about! Stormlight Spoilers
  10. Mine is here as well, but today is incredibly busy, so I'll be burning the midnight oil to get it read. Still super pumped!
  11. Guys, check out the border on the world map. Those are clearly bones with symbols on them. Dakhor anyone?
  12. That coast is remarkably straight. Also, check out the compass rose guys! Pretty sure the other three satellite cities of Elantris are the same as the names for north, west, and south.
  13. Looking at it right now, I have them open. I don't see any problems. Have you perhaps not used his website since the update last year?
  14. This is honestly a really interesting theory. I would not be at all disappointed if it ended up being true. I am, however, hesitant to believe it fully. Here's my thought process. At the end of Alloy, Marsh gives Wax the book on Hemalurgy that Spook wrote, because (I paraphrase) Wax, "does [his] brother's work." The takeaway there being that Marsh thinks that Wax acts as Kelsier would have. However, this book is certain to prove instrumental in the upcoming conflict, whatever it may be. Hemalurgy is definitely involved. If Kelsier is behind this whole situation, Marsh just gave his enemy a huge helping hand. In what universe is Wax doing Kel's work if Wax is going to be fighting against Kel? My only potential way around this is that Marsh meant that Wax acts as Kelsier would have long ago, when he was human, and now for whatever reason, Kelsier is different. That feels kind of like a cop-out to me. So, I don't really know what to believe.
  15. I think Endowment does count in this situation. Remember, Warbreaker was written with Brandon posting chapter by chapter. It was not officially released until 2009, but I think that he had released at least one full iteration of the book by 2008, and most on TWG had read that.
  16. Tor.com just released the sixth chapter of Shadows of Self! It's pretty awesome, and we only have T-minus 8 days until it is released!
  17. Yes, Tellingdwar and company are correct. Brandon abandoned "trilogy" labels in favor of the Era system in order to fix some confusion. Many people thought Alloy was the start of the "modern" trilogy, which it is not. The Mistborn Adventures are Era 2, officially, in both Brandon's wiki and our own.
  18. The problem I have with her being the nurse is that, unless I'm mistaken, elsewhere Brandon's hint to find her is to watch for a Terris-sounding name, and the nurse is unnamed. It doesn't preclude the possibility of Aslydin being the nurse, but I think it implies at least that she's elsewhere too.
  19. Mmkay, let's all take a step back. Everyone knows how easy it is for tempers to flare online. There is no need for any negativity or harshness in posts. We're here to have a good time discussing something we're all passionate about and while a well-reasoned criticism is useful, there is such thing as going too far. Even if no negativity is intended, without tone it can be hard to tell, so it's good to be cautious. Tobar, it is not your place to tell another member to take a chill pill. That's the moderating team's job. If the Steel Ministry has any desire to administer chill pills, it will be handled by an admin personally, I assure you. I'm not shutting down this discussion yet, but let's try to get it back on track.
  20. Just out of curiousity, do you recall what he said about the Emperor's Soul sequel? Or is it answered in the recording? (I can't watch it yet)
  21. I don't think that I have anything too much to add that wasn't already touched on in this topic. Clear, well-written topics and posts, that add to the discussion are always something to be strived for. On the other hand, I'd ask that everyone have a little patience with new members. We were all there at one point or another. I know that one of my earliest topics is an absolutely cringeworthy rehash of what others had previously said with very little original ideas of my own. It takes some time to get the hang of forums, especially if this is your first. Helpful comments and questions are the way to go there, or if you really don't have time, clicking Report and typing a quick explanation lets the mods know that someone may need some help with forum guidelines or style. Thanks everyone, I think this topic is done. If anyone else has any questions, feel free to get in touch with me or another staff member.
  22. I was under the impression that it was a con-exclusive promotion. Not sure if there's any other way to get it.
  23. There are two main Alethi forms of names Brandon works with. One is the religious names, but there's also the classical aesthetic which gives you names like Kaladin and Dalinar. He discusses is on an episode of writing excuses, but I'm not sure which one. Ialai is like Vathah too.
  24. I think what Eric is saying is that, for the most part, the Cosmere article already goes as in-depth as we feel any overview of the total cosmere history needs to go. In addition to that, we don't really know exactly how all the events fit relative to one another. We know generally when the books themselves sit in the timeline. But specific years, as well as how past events fit together (First Returned relative to the Last Desolation, etc) are still unknown at this time. Also, we don't even know what the relative year lengths are from planet to planet, so a comprehensive timeline of all cosmere events literally cannot be built, right now. By all means, continue writing your article, I don't wish to discourage you at all. But, right now I'm not sure exactly where it would fit in with the current articles we have. But even if it ends up just being for your own reference, feel free to leave it on the wiki. A lot of people use userpages to keep track of their own stuff even if they don't intend to put it on the wiki.
  25. Almost unrelated, but I love language so this piqued my interest and I did some quick googling. The word manual can be traced back to the Latin word manus, meaning "hand". I imagine this is why the words for hand in many Romance languages look similar, such as main in French or mano in Spanish. So I'd say this is probably more related to labor done by hand than any gender thing. Fun facts!
