  1. Mistborn Era 3 is supposed to be right around that 80 year mark. As I understand it, the tech level will be early computers. Possibly early space exploration on the level of, say, the Apollo program. Artifabrians among the singers or even in Urithiru could indeed come up with the space tech to match as they develop and refine Navani’s discoveries with conjoined Fabrials. if Retribution is smart, he’ll spur this on. That said, he seems much more of an authoritarian god. That may or may not help.
  2. I think… that the True Dalinar will appear in visions, the way Nohadon has. Probably to Jasnah, possibly to Renarin. Not sure where thst puts me on the poll.
  3. The epigraphs from her disciple are fairly compelling evidence, I will grant you. That said, I think the time skip for the next book is 10 years, not 6, so there’s still 4 years for her to get lost. However, I sincerely disagree that it would be a waste. It would be a direction for her to come back from. She could become the prodigal, returning home to save her people as she rediscovers who she is. Up until Wind and Truth, she was unassailable in her idea of who she was. Yes, she was called heretic, but she was always confident that she was right. She made it all the way to the 4th ideal without us reading about a single one of her oaths, and we’re not getting the flashbacks, where hopefully we get to see those oaths, till book 10. Her progress in going from 4th ideal to 5th will be glacial. I posit that it will work much better if she backslides. Maybe not full recreance, though to be fair, that doesn’t mean what it used to. But a little walkabout may be good for her.
  4. Jasnah has been broken. The flaws in her morality laid bare, her foundations shaken. She’s lost everything. It may be time for her to make some bad decisions. Jasnah is also the only one who can leave Urithiru. Granted, she may not be able to get back without a significant source of power, and I’m not sure she’d be willing to ask Retribution for Warlight. That becomes less of an issue if she leaves Roshar. The right choice would probably be to learn how to make an Elsegate and get everyone out. Or in. Or at least open up trade with Venli (who shares her surge, making it more possible), and possibly with Azimir. She has an essential role to play. but, she may not be ready for that right now. Losing everything is a great opportunity to rebuild, but lots of people don’t do that right away. So… what if she just…. left.
  5. Reason could indeed be a tempering aspect, but part of me would want one more positive shard to balance it further. Give Reason the power to choose between Odium and Mercy for instance. I’d probably call that one Judgement. To a certain extent, I agree with you, the combinations we got were not necessarily what they had to be. The circumstances definitely helped make Retribution what it is, though I do think that this is also the interpretation of the two shards combined that aligns their powers the best. They can act in concert toward this goal. It still makes for a very controlling and dictatorial god, though that’s quite possibly an influence from the vessel. That said, I think in Harmony’s case it was less the circumstances and far more the vessel who has defined the combination. I think Scadrial is highly fortunate to have an extremely knowledgeable religious scholar with many perspectives on what a god should and shouldn’t be. Of course, then we also get into Discord looming, which is relevant but also quite the rabbit hole. It’s also worth noting that both of the combined shards that we know at this time are exceptionally young. They may redefine themselves as they get older. Part of me thinks that’s what we saw from Rayse on Ashyn: a vessel trying to redefine his new(ish) Shard, deceiving definitely the people but perhaps also himself as to what it actually is. Sazed could give in to the instability of his powers and become Discord. Time, events, and quite possibly the development of Honor’s own personality may redefine Retribution into something else. Which leads me to the Dor. We already have a combination of Dominion and Devotion there. It’s been left alone a lot longer than Honor, so it probably has its own ideas, or is very much shaped by the people who live in the regions that define its power. It’s hard for me to decide what Dominion+Devotion=. Tanavast thought the best aspects of Adonalsium were in Devotion… Leadership? I’m kinda glad we’re getting that book soon. I’ll propose one further combination: Cultivation, seeing a need for more power, reclaims the broken shard of Ambition, creating Ascension. She starts cultivating champions with a strong desire to prove themselves, become the absolute best, but also who work to cultivate those below themselves.
  6. Thanks to Wind and Truth, we now know the domains of all 16 Shards. 4 of them have combined into two new shards: Ruin + Preservation = Harmony, a fairly laissez faire god with difficulty controlling his conflicted power. (though Discord may yet manifest). Odium + Honor = Retribution, who, based on Taravangian’s rant to cultivation, thoughts he expressed after the powers combined, and some of how Warlight is managed, I think is going to be an exceptionally strict god. We’ll see how well these shards align. Granted, the vessel may have some say as to what these Shards combine into… looking at you Sazed…. but, there’s a ton of possible combinations out there. Anyone have ideas for some good ones?
  7. I actually wonder: if Reason finds their way into this conflict… would Jasnah take it up should circumstances allow? She certainly aligns with the intent. But would she want that power? Before Wind and Truth, I’d probably have said no. Afterwards? Well, let’s just say I think she was broken, will be rebuilding herself, and may not be the same person when it’s all over.
  8. I agree radiants are likely quite capable of using Warlight. I’m significantly less confident in their ability to obtain it, as you have pray to Retribution to get the gems/sphere’s infused. He may be less likely to give it to enemies. I also have questions about the shelf life. If it comes every night, I’m guessing it’s quite short, to ensure everyone’s dependence on Retribution. He seems to be a very controlling god. Which suit’s Taravangian’s stated purposes just fine… though that may result in a lot of problems with his reign.
  9. Adhesion
  10. A fair assumption, but frankly we don’t know what the Ghostbloods were or weren’t doing during those books. They were also operating a lot more among the Malwish, so the problem could have been there. More definitively, Hoid was literally applying for the job he had in The Lost Metal (if not sooner). He had a crisis on Scadrial to resolve before he could go seek Valor. That was TLT, where he directly interacted with Wax and Wayne.
  11. I reread it. He thinks of it as a Spren, so yeah, an unmade. Or, he could get someone to Nahel Bond with the Blackthorn. Could make for some interesting results.
  12. I’m betting Sja-Anat can also field functional radiants…. I wonder if Retribution will be kinder to her children.
  13. The incident could just as easily have been the bands of truth. Or even Melaan’s little uprising
  14. Iirc, that chapter was from the perspective of Twin Soul, who may also be in the dark about Iyatil’s death.
  15. Hoid applies for his job as the Ladrian coachman (the job he has in TLM) at the end of WaT. to answer the main question of this thread, I’ll point out that Autonomy has been working slowly against Harmony for a long time. Trellism predated the Lord Ruler. The Set was operating before Wax left the Roughs. We’re seeing a vast conspiracy come to a head, not a sudden attack. She probably felt the need to get the situation settled so she could focus on the new threat, but her operations against Harmony started back when she probably figured the Shards on Roshar were going to kill one another. Plus, Autonomy, with all her avatars, is probably quite good a multitasking.
  16. I think of the Rysn’s debate with the son of the Reshi King. That guy definitely valued autonomy.
  17. Probably… but it sounds like you have to pray to Retribution to get it. That may be an issue for some. Retribution is making everyone dependent on him. He’s going to be a very controlling god.
  18. A line that jumped out at me in Honor’s Memories: The Wind obviously protects, but which one shrouds, and which one nurtures? My first thought is Stone nurturing and Night shrouding… but Cultivation latched on to Night just like Honor did the wind. On the other hand, the Sibling was derived from stone and the Sibling does seem to nurture.
  19. Possibly also redefine them. Develop some of those rougher attributes into something better and then combine them into a whole. Rayse wanted to be Passion. Not just Odium. I think Ati wanted to be change. Perhaps the idea was to redefine the Shards all into something better. Makes me wonder what the Dor will be. I’m sure it’s starting to get ideas by now.
  20. Past Dalinar is enlightened by a strengthened connection to the original. It may be possible to replicate this, though at present there’s only one more bondsmith that’s even possible
  21. The chasmfiends (and the Reshi Island Greatshells) value boldness. That sounds more like Valor than anything… though it seems to me that Valor isn’t involved… yet. Could be autonomy.
  22. May I suggest that she didn’t flee. I think she planned all of that as her desire to leave. Not saying this was her whole plan or her only plan, but she was resenting being bound to Roshar way back when Honor was still alive. She sent Dalinar after Honor’s power, created a divided man to be a divided vessel for 2 shards, and even made a Radiant who could be independent of both Honor and Retribution’s Light (who will be a flash back character in book six). So, I think her exit was planned well in advance. EDIT: possibly, Cultivation ran off and found the Night.
  23. Given the change in their god, I could see some new forms of power arising
  24. Adolin: he’s probably their leader now
  25. Could also be Autonomy. You know how she gets.
