  1. Personally, I’d go with a Ferring Mistborn. I understand that Feruchemy is way better for everyday life, but I think about these things in a combat sense. It almost doesn’t matter which metal is compounded in this combination, as most of them are pretty powerful, but gold is the obvious choice. A mistborn, even without era two metals, is extremely effective in combat. Sure, a Feruchemist is good in combat, but only with enough attributes stored. So imagine the raw power of a mistborn without the fact that they actually have to worry about a lucky hit killing them. Gold compounding would make a mistborn unkillable, making them the perfect combat machine, with flight from steel and iron and incredible strength from pewter. Not to mention the time bubbles and leeching they could do in a fight with other metalborn. It’s just overpowered. And sure compounded steel or gold or even pewter as a fullchemist misting is pretty combat effective, it’s not nearly as useful as being a mistborn ferring from a combat perspective, in my opinion.
  2. So, while Sazed changed how snapping works in era 2, could someone have been snapped into Allomancy by being Hemalurgically spiked? Since being stabbed seems like the kind of trauma that would do it. Maybe not to the diluted Allomancy before TLR’s Ascension, but to those in the time of MB era 1? Seems logical to me. This could then mean that someone who was turned into a koloss, for instance, before snapping could snap in the process of becoming a koloss, which might make a koloss that had Allomancy, though nobody would know because koloss neither swallow metals nor have the capacity to burn them.
  3. So Feruchemical tin stores senses. But what qualifies as a storable sense in the cosmere? On Scadrial, could a twin born or Fullborn store atium, electrum, gold, or malatium visions in a tinmind? Can lifesense be stored? Can you store the sense of balance? What are the possibilities?
  4. So we know that Brandon has said that the atium that came from the Pits was an alloy of pure atium and electrum, and that pure atium should be able to be burned by everyone ( I can’t find the WoB on this so if someone could find that it would be great). So are the atium mistings in HoA mistings of this specific alloy or mistings of electrum, who can burn the alloy because atium can be burned by anyone and they can burn the other component? Since it has been said that burning a lerasium alloy would work to make you a listing of the other component in the alloy, and a misting would be able to burn a lerasium alloy of their respective metal for a power boost, does the same logic work with this atium alloy? Can it be burned by someone who can burn the other metal, or only by an unnatural misting of that god alloy?
  5. I think maybe Preservation and Cultivation could be a powerful combination. Their Intents aren’t in total opposition, as Preservation is consistency basically and Cultivation is controlled change, so they might be able to work well together. Odium and Ruin would go well together as well, and maybe Odium and Dominion or Ruin and Dominion. Devotion and Honor possibly. Maybe Mercy and Preservation. Probably a whole lot more combinations that could be crazy powerful but I can’t think of any more.
  6. Nickel (pure metal) (Physical, internal, pull) An Allomancer burning nickel becomes physically harder, with tougher skin and reinforced bones. The power effectively pulls the molecules in the body tighter together, increasing density. There is no impediment to movement. A Ferring of nickel stores physical flexibility in a nickelmind, making them less flexible when storing and far more flexible when tapping. A nickel misting is called a Strongarm. A nickel Ferring is called a Flexer. Nitinol ( nickel-titanium alloy) ( physical, internal, push) An Allomancer burning nitinol can lose their shape, acting almost as a kandra, though they cannot ingest bones. They will return to their original shape should they stop burning, with no ill effects. A Ferring can store mental flexibility in a nitinolmind, making them less open to new ideas when storing and more open in mindset while tapping. A nitinol misting is called a Metaformer. A nitinol Ferring is called a Broadminder. Nickel hemalurgically steals physical durability. Nitinol hemalurgically steals physical identity. This allows someone to take on the appearance of the spiked individual. Appearance is interchangeable.
  7. I’m either compounding steel, pewter, or gold, or doing like steel and iron or pewter and gold. Maybe, if it was cheap enough, compounded bendalloy. And obviously if you could get it compounded atium. That’s just overpowered.
  8. Part of it is size of spike and the process used to make the spikes being directly related, and part of it is TLR wanting an easy way to kill the Inquisitors. Kandra and Koloss both have embedded spikes, if memory serves, but they are made through the use of normal human souls, not metallic arts abilities in the Hemalurgy, so maybe that has something to do with it. Bigger spikes hold a stronger charge, and might be needed for better Allomantic or Feruchemical stealing, though Spook worked with a small spike. But I think the main reason for protruding spikes was TLR needing an easy kill switch.
  9. What are some of your favorite inspirational or just badass quotes from across the Cosmere. My favorites are “There is always another secret” and “Honor is dead. But I’ll see what I can do”
  10. Well feruchemy and Allomancy are really different parts of one Invested Art, the metallic arts. Different magic, yes, but a different Art, no. And I had forgotten about the feruchemist with the Aviar, though we don’t really see what power his aviar granted and that’s not really a magic system that could yield some of the phenomenally powerful results as say the mixing of Surgebinding and Metallic Arts.
  11. In the current Cosmere, there is only one known instance of a being possessing multiple Invested Arts, that being Hoid. Other than him, there are no beings that have multiple powers, despite worldhoppers being all over the Cosmere. This is likely due to the lack of large scale interaction between civilizations in the Cosmere. Though we haven’t truly seen the extent of what Hoid can do, we have seen, through Roshar and Scadrial, the crazy abilities that can be obtained through combining different powers within the same Invested Art/magic system. So imagine the abilities that could be found if you had a Windrunner who could burn bendalloy. A mistborn with a bonded spren. Powers like these, one genetic, one situational, could easily be combined, though the bonding of a Rosharan spren by an offworlder might be difficult. Things that are more unique to people of a planet, like Breath and Allomancy, would be harder to combine with each other, but still theoretically possible. My understanding of the interaction between Invested Arts and different people around the Cosmere is somewhat lacking, so I wonder if anyone can offer some insight on just how far this could go in later Cosmere eras.
  12. I suppose you are right. We must ponder how it can be viable in the Metallic Arts, I suppose. Though the things it does within these arts do somewhat align with this understanding. In Allomancy, it removes investiture from the user, cleansing the spirit web of unnatural Investiture. In feruchemy, it stores identity, effectively siphoning off Investiture from the spirit web. In hemalurgy, if I remember correctly, it doesn’t steal powers, but removes them, returning the investiture to the spiritual realm.
  13. Healing is based on the Spiritual self trying to align the Physical self to it. This alignment filters through the cognitive, and damage that has been sustained further in the past is harder to heal as the Cognitive, and Spiritual, accept that wound. But a wound sustained like a stabbing recently is going to heal, most likely, regardless of the emotional impact of the Allomancy, because the cognitive self is still aligned with what it was before, regardless of the emotions, and the spiritual is definitely the same, and the effect of the cognitive here shouldn’t be enough to stop healing. And even some wounds that have been there for longer, like Lopen’s lost arm, can heal so long as the Spiritual self sees that as the true form with enough Intent, and overpowers the cognitive.
  14. That’s what I thought as well, and it makes sense as it pertains to Allomancy and even fabrial mechanics. However, does it entirely explain the metal’s immunity to the Invested Arts? Perhaps it would explain how it can be immune to the Surges, but does it explain how the powers of physical Allomancy or of Shardblades cannot impact it? I am unsure.
  15. Yes I was aware of how these metals behave. The reason for this, I believe, is that the metal is just a filter which Investiture passes through to determine the power it gives. The filter is the same on every world, and the Investiture takes on similar attributes when it passes through them. However, God Metals, the metals directly aligned with Shards, are not filters, but pure Investiture, and I was saying that aluminum couldn’t be aligned with any one Shard, as that would typically mean that only small amounts of it would exist, and only on the invested planet of that Shard, but aluminum is found basically everywhere in some way or another. If the pattern holds true, aluminum is a filter, just one that causes the Investiture not to take on a usable form. And that is simply true in Allomancy or in fabrials, not really explaining the effect it has in blocking Shardblades or Allomancy. So why does aluminum have such unique properties that don’t exactly align with our understanding of the other metals?
  16. We know aluminum as the Cosmere-wide bane of Investiture. On every world we’ve seen in the Cosmere, or at least the major ones, aluminum is shown as a material that can remove Investiture in some way or another, from stopping and dulling Shardblades on Roshar to wiping and blocking Allomancy on Scadrial. But why is aluminum so universally capable of this feat? It can’t be in alignment to a particular Shard, as it’s found all over the Cosmere. Could it be in relation to a particular aspect of Adonalsium, predating the Shattering? Could it have been utilized in the Shattering itself? What is aluminum, really, and why can it do what it does?
  17. Exactly. In a combat situation, Jasnah has a power that allows her to sow destruction on unparalleled levels, if used properly. Kaladin has a power that augments, enhances, and is skill. Kaladin is the most combat-skilled non-Herald on Roshar by far, capable of fighting entire armies in what is effectively hand to hand combat, just with a bit of flying and healing thrown in. Jasnah can turn armies to stone or ash with a wave of her hand, or light the very air ablaze; this requires skill in her powers, of course, but she certainly could not handle a combat situation with no powers or Blade, while Kaladin can fight beings like Fused without his powers, just because he is that absolutely skillful.
  18. I think weapons like the obsidian axes and daggers used by the Inquisitors are kind of the best of both worlds here. They may have less reach, but an ax has plenty of striking force, and obsidian is both sharper and stronger than glass by far. The weapons are concealable, lightweight, and immune to Allomancy. If you had to fight another mistborn, obsidian weapons are definitely the best bet, and the smaller ones like daggers are the perfect weapons for the ultimate assassins that are Mistborn.
  19. We’ve seen Hemalurgy used throughout Mistborn Era 1 and 2, and it’s clearly a very powerful art. The question now is how far that power can go in the wider Cosmere. What are the applications on other worlds, with other magic systems? What can be done with God Metals like Raysium? The possibilities seem endless. I think Raysium could be used to combine spikes, as it conducts Investiture. This might be able to drastically increase the power that could be applied without risking some of the same issues that come from overspiking. It may also be able to steal any ability on any world due to this same conductive nature. What do you guys think?
  20. Completely slipped my mind. Thank you for letting me know
  21. Who would win in a fight, era 1 Kelsier, with only the powers he had in The Final Empire, so no duralumin or era two metals, or Kaladin as of the end of RoW? To me it seems clear that Kaladin, as a Windrunner of the Fourth Ideal, is taking the win here, but if we consider emotional allomancy and Atium, and Kelsier’s penchant for ruthlessness, our favorite Survivor might pull out the win. I’m interested to see what you guys think.
  22. Damn the count is high. I didn’t do any math on the other God Metals, but that’s crazy. I may have missed some Scadrian possibilities too. I was ignoring the possibility of further alloying alloys, though I assumed that would be possible since technically the base metals are actually eight bases and eight alloys, and those all alloy. I would say the possible combinations are nearly infinite, as you could cross-alloy each Allomantic set for every single god metal with every other set for every other god metal, possibly multiple times, though there might be some workings of Investiture that could prevent the use of these metals, or the functionality of such heavily alloyed metals, by a conventional Allomancer, though I cannot say.
  23. One, he probably doesn’t, assuming he crosses the event horizon. I’m not sure what means are being used to get him there, but he probably avoids those. Fullborn can probably survive in the void of space, since feruchemy is extremely overpowered, especially with compounding, though he probably wouldn’t survive forever. There are limits, of course, and such an event as what you suggest would probably kill him. But engaged in heated combat, a Fullborn wins against pretty much anyone, and without someone to kill them, they’re effectively immortal, as we see with Rashek.
  24. Hoid almost certainly got the aluminum from offworld, as we see it on worlds like Scadrial, and Hoid couldn’t Soulcast until the end of Oathbringer, as you said. It’s possible he got it from a hidden Radiant stash somewhere on Roshar, as Radiants could’ve used it in other locations aside from Urithiru. But, as is always true when it comes to our dear friend Hoid, we just don’t know. “There is always another secret”
