Aon lightsaber
TheSurvivorofDeath replied to Weaver of Shadows's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Okay, basing this off of the ars arcanum and the coppermind. I say we use either Daa or Ehe as the base. If we use Ehe we modify with Daa to add some extra kick. We focus it with Ela and hold the beam together with Are and Dao. Now, I do not believe Aon Rao boosts the power of AonDor. I believe that Rao binds the Elantrians together. It is the shape of Elantris because that is the center of the elantrian order, which binds them together. Aons are at full strength when Elantris is functional because the Dor can connect to all the Elantrians. That’s just what I think. Anyway. Lightsaber. It’s gonna take a crazy amount of modifiers to make the whole thing do exactly what it needs to to be a lightsaber, but the Aons above are the ones I think would work best as a base. -
If you were going to the Forests of Hell...
TheSurvivorofDeath replied to Colors's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Body: Tensoon’s strongman body from Shadows of Self. Skills: Silence Powers: The Breaths Vasher got from Vahr and basic Awakening knowledge, something like Vivenna by the end of Warbreaker. Item: Hemalurgic Spike with a Divine Breath. I get a strong body that isn’t as tall as a Rosharan one, so it’s got maneuverability in the Forests. Silence is the single most capable person at surviving in the Forests that we’ve ever seen, so her skills are perfect. The Breaths Vasher got from Vahr are several hundred strong, giving me somewhere around the fourth heightening. Give me the skill to use them fairly well, plus that investiture, and I’m doing great. I bet life sense could sense shades at least a little bit too. Add on the Divine Breath that doesn’t eat my Breaths, I get maybe all the way to the Sixth Heightening and an obscene amount of investiture to resist the shades. This seems like an optimal set up for the Forests. -
Fractal Callsign (the password is password) Ares Devastation Nightfall Blessing Bastion Beyond Unknown Vanisher Chaos Ember Nightstalker Hollow Fury

Fun companions sure. Also terrible enemies. I think my protagonist is gonna have to fight a Fractal at some point in that book and it is not going to be fun.

So I made these two creatures that are a little strange, but are actual creatures and not magical constructs or anything like that. If anyone has a better name suggestion for Paintlings I’m open to it. I could not think of a good alternative. What do you guys think of these?

I have a system that I made up off the top of my head that I have nowhere to put so you can have it if you like the premise. Basically there’s coins, either basic or rare, five base metals for each class. Alloy coins can be made. So the way the magic works is you place the coin under your tongue, and it will grant you the associated ability for a time. The time period depends on the metal of the coin and the power it gives you. Alloys have to be made of the base metals and will grant a slightly diminished form of both abilities for a time period roughly in the middle of the two. This is how I have it set up. Obviously you can change the abilities if you want and if you’re looking for a sort of stigma towards magic you could have the only way to mint the coins be through various numbers of souls, depending on the coin. I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for I just find it interesting.

So today marks one year of my presence on the Shard. This is also my 100th post. So I thought I would post all of the fantasy things I’ve created in the last year. It’s kind of a lot, so strap in. Nexum This is the world of my current writing project. I have a post that describes the planet itself. The world itself isn’t all that special. Magic on Nexum Fantasy Creatures on Nexum Becrux This is my personal favorite world. It’s a hot, desolate place that is so full of death that what does live there is the most alive you’ll ever find. Magic on Becrux Fantasy Creatures on Becrux Asema This is a particularly interesting world. It’s mostly ocean, with a large supercontinent like Roshar. The entire planet is filled with massive crystal growths, and this is the only known place where a God has died. Magic on Asema Fantasy Creatures on Asema Laetus This world isn’t very planned out yet. It’s going to be interesting but it’s not very developed. Magic on Laetus Laetus doesn’t have any fantasy creatures yet. I know some of these might be a little hard to read so please ask clarifying questions if you’re confused.

This is the last of the four main worlds in my fantasy universe. It’s also the least planned so bear with me.

What do you think is the most useful twinborn combination for real life use. Personally, I think either allomantic tin and Feruchemical copper or allomantic zinc and Feruchemical zinc is the best. With the first, you get enhanced senses and perfect memory, two things that would be great for everyday life. You never know when you’ll need to see better or recall a random fact. With the second option, you can manipulate emotions and compound mental speed, which is an excellent thing to be able to do. You’d win every social interaction instantly. On a more physical side of life, allomantic pewter is great no matter what. Combined with feruchemical pewter, iron, or steel, it is an amazing tool. Not terribly important in modern life, but very cool. What do you guys think?

So this is the world where my current work in progress takes place. I’ve been fleshing out the actual planet itself in my head so I figured I’d post it.

The First Chapter of My Fantasy Novel
TheSurvivorofDeath replied to TheSurvivorofDeath's topic in Creator's Corner
Yeah this book is heavily inspired by Mistborn on multiple levels. I try my best to make it different but the magic and world are both heavily based on Mistborn Era 2z -
So I saw @Ookla did one of these and I’d figure I’d give it a go. This is the first chapter of the rough, still incomplete draft of my book, The Lord of Windswept Steel. I don’t know if that’s the best formatting. I can’t wait to hear what you guys think.
-
I’ll have to try those. I attempted something based off of the wendigo that’s so so. I’ll post it here later. And I’m working on a shapeshifter. Edit:
-
So I did another one of these but I’m kinda gonna change the format for this one. So, without further ado, I give you Asema. Thoughts?

Yeah I’m not the greatest at the actual writing part but boy can I worldbuild. Edit: Does anyone have any suggestions for other mythological creatures and the like to base more fantasy creatures off of?
-
Yay for science indeed. I love bringing science and fantasy together. Just because you have the ability to make your world magical is no reason to neglect making it realistic. Magic and realism should go hand in hand.
-
So this is my personal favorite of the four current worlds I’ve devised for my fantasy projects. That seems pretty good for improvising it. I’m considering doing this for all four of my worlds so let me know if you like the format or tell me any critiques you may have.

So you might think “oh it’s a fantasy creature he can just make up whatever color blood he wants.” No. This blood is orange for a reason. You see, in my universe iridium is one of the best conduits for Futuresight, across all worlds if you know what you’re doing. So I figured, give the dragons iridium in their blood, they have an irrefutable reason to have Futuresight. So I had to find a compound that can carry oxygen like hemoglobin because I still wanted dragons to be aerobic. And after about an hour of research and cross checking I discovered Vaska’s complex, or transcarbonylchlorobis(triphenylphosphine)iridium, which is a bright yellow substance that is capable of reversibly bonding O2 in a side on manner, which is different from how hemoglobin bonds O2. When Vaska’s complex is oxidized it turns orange, hence the orange blood. So now I have a scientifically viable (theoretically) form of iridium based blood. Instead of just making up the entire thing all I have to do is assume some fantastic form of evolutionary biology, and it is fantasy after all.
-
So these are some fantasy creatures I’ve made up for various projects. They’re not fully fleshed out here but I have a better working concept of them in my head for the most part. Osteolycanthropy is not my best work but it is what it is for now. (edit: somebody please ask about the orange blood)
-
So I made this up a few days ago because I was bored. I don’t know if I’m even gonna use it in any of my novels but I think it’s pretty interesting so I figured I’d share it. I figure pictures will be easier than listing the whole thing but I don’t know if they’ll show up perfectly.

Magic System Based on Feruchemy/Allomancy

Did you see the topic I posted with my WIP? You should check it out. -
Magic System Based on Feruchemy/Allomancy
TheSurvivorofDeath replied to TheSurvivorofDeath's topic in Creator's Corner
So my basic plot set up is a three part story, with part one serving as mostly exposition, the inciting incident being an attack on the city by a spirit controlled by the antagonist. Part two will serve to really flesh out the characters and conflict, tying together subplots and things like that. And part three will be a resolution, where all of the real action and character deaths and real changes happen. And I mean like I might use one ability, like the strength from steel, to accomplish the power of another ability, like the speed of bronze, if that makes sense. -
Magic System Based on Feruchemy/Allomancy
TheSurvivorofDeath replied to TheSurvivorofDeath's topic in Creator's Corner
What do you mean by basic plot setup? Like structure or like the actual events of the plot? And I differentiate the magic system with two methods: one, I employ this magic system in unique ways that one might not expect, attempting to use one ability to accomplish another purpose; two, I actually use this magic system, though it is the more common in-world, as a secondary one plot wise. Both my protagonist and antagonist employ another very different magic system, though my protagonist is a Strongarm and uses that ability often, and there is a subplot relating to another character gaining this second magic system. -
I know I know, posting again. This is my current WIP, and I’d like as much constructive criticism as possible. This copy won’t update as I edit my main draft so I’ll post the occasional updated version if this topic actually gets any traction. https://docs.google.com/document/d/11byOWTcncSI7-X3lmn3icw3If81GYJgZoNcIPJzGkqk/edit I’d prefer if comments were left on this topic and not on the document, thank you. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Magic System Based on Feruchemy/Allomancy
TheSurvivorofDeath replied to TheSurvivorofDeath's topic in Creator's Corner
This magic system is hereditary, similarly to Allomancy and Feruchemy. The setting of my story is similar to Mistborn Era 2, sort of an Industrial America style.
