I see we updated the Cosmere Template to have Virtuosity, but I feel we should also include Lumar, Komashi, and UTol as planets. Given Lumar and Komashi are central planets in their respective books (and we don't just include the very important planets, as we did include things like First of the Sun and Obrodai), and UTol was implied to be very important and well known in the cosmere.

Yeah, Torio and Nagadan both had a no-man's-land between settlements. Due to being focused around steamwells in Torio, and Hion Stubs in Nagadan. They were further limited by the land not being good for life even in the habited areas, with them relying a lot on the Yoki-hijo for any technology to help them with agriculture and homes.

The Big Battle for the Cosmere
Firesong replied to Lighteyed Lieutenant's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Taravangian would definitely be less malicious and selfish than Rayse, but still have twisted and violent methods. As the dude doesn't want anyone to suffer, he more so just doesn't care so long as it helps further the livelihood of those he does care about. It would be very interesting to see how he goes about things compared to his predecessor. -
I feel Malice is too close to Odium, and also, Ruin doesn't really have an inherent hatred component. It is more about inevitable decay. Also, I do really feel we are getting an Odium + Honor Shard, The Broken One. Todium consumes the remaining splinters of Honor and becomes a Hybrid of both. People did ask Brandon that before, and he seemed to hint towards it being a possibility. So, I feel that is one we should be thinking about. Whimsy + Autonomy might be some form of Objectivism. Devotion + Honor and Dominion + Honor definitely would be associated with government, with the Law of Honor, which when mixed with the idea of ruling and being ruled, makes for a good fit for governmental ideas. Maybe Devotion + Honor is like, Patriotism or Nationalism? Odium + Dominion and Odium + Honor could both fit for war and imperialism. Dominion we already see strongly associated with both, and Odium adds a further aspect of hatred into the mix. Ruin + Cultivation would be interesting, as both are concerning change, maybe it would just be Change. Also, it is basically confirmed that Ruin + Preservation could also be Discord, and will be Discord by Era 3.

Yeah, Heightening isn't really a Nalthian thing, it was just studied most on Nalthis due to the fact that they had a very scientific view on Invested Arts compared to other planets of their time. They also had a system that was more measurable, and also people that actually retained Investiture instead of just pulling it out of the Spiritual Realm and using it instantly. Holding onto any large amount of Investiture causes those effects, although not the ones directly tied to Awakening, of course. As Brandon stated in the aforementioned WoB. We have also seen at points people confused high levels of Investiture for Heightening such as Riino with Kaladin. Heightening is just the results of large amounts of Investiture being held onto by a being.

Well, the book takes place in the far future, they have space stations and even a civilization said to be rather simple and unadvanced could travel to different planets. So, it is possible that even that disaster 1700 years back was after current novels. And also, we don't know how Invested the Hijo are. And also, the prototype machine didn't show full awareness. The Father Machine showed some level of mechanical awareness, however, due to being the nexus of so much Investiture, as T-mo stated.

Addition to this, I think I am wrong. He was talking to Rosharans, and using their measurements. So fifty miles is most likely Rosharan miles, which we know are larger than standard miles. According to this (As it states, it does have RoW Spoilers, I was just linking it to cite my sources. I give the ending solution in this post, so you don't have to check) It should be x1.95, thus 97.5 miles across. So it should be 7,466.19 miles squared, closer to the area of Solvenia, or between the sizes of Connecticut and New Jersey. Exactly 3.8025x the area we previously assumed. So, around 24.67 New York Cities. Again, still a pretty reasonable size, I feel.

The only thing it spoils is that he doesn't die and eventually becomes a Dawnshard. It is clear that Brandon isn't gonna spoil anything else in Stormlight besides that stuff.

The Big Battle for the Cosmere
Firesong replied to Lighteyed Lieutenant's topic in Cosmere Discussion
While we don't know what the endgame plot would be, we do know 100% it will be in the far future with space travel and more interplanetary interconnection. As per a lot of WoBs and a few books which take place in that very late era (Sixth of Dusk being one). Pay attention to Hoid, he is going to be playing a major role in the end. A lot of people do have theories on how it would end. But I feel we are ultimately too early to have a chance at accurate theories. -
Keep in mind this, he was flaring a metal right as he died, thus, he was current inundated with a large amount of Investiture. Mistborn and Mistings aren't normally highly Invested, he just died while heavily Invested.

I h I have a solid theory on it right here. Going into theorizing over the Cosmere mechanics that brought this forth.

The size of Nagadan leaves me wondering many things, but to start out. It is no more than 50 miles across, I assume close to that due to the wording. Thus it is at most 1963.49540849 miles squared, a little smaller than Trinidad and Tobago, at ~1980 miles squared (as a circle would have the greatest area for the given radius, thus I used it as an upper bound). This may seem small, but it is actually pretty reasonable size if you look into it. It could fit around 6.5x the area of New York City, so it makes sense they could have several cities located across it, especially when they note how the cities were pretty small by modern standards. So, I perfectly believe the nation described fits the described scale. What questions this raises, is 1: How much area would the other 12 nations make up, it will not be more than 25525.4403104 in total, as we know that they are smaller than Nagadan. 2: Why didn't they expand more? We know that they are able to banish away the Shroud in a limited area, but the stay much more sedentary. Is it just due to the sense of community and low population causing people to not really have a desire to split up and expand like that? Edit: Made a mistake in my math due to assuming normal miles, forgetting he was talking to a Rosharan audience, updated size in this reply.

Ah, I think I know what happened. When you press post and it doesn't move you to the post. A lot of the time it does actually create it and just bugs out a bit. Whenever that happens, try going and checking on another tab, to see if it actually didn't post, or if it did and didn't bring you to it.

Several bots are spamming the forums today, on Rupee loans and abortion pills adverts. First two are loans, third is pills. Simbaark in particular is making several forum posts on the subject. rekija5594@prepw. com. lariy70269@paqba. com Simbaark I have been reporting posts, but I feel I should just bring up the accounts as a whole, as they are just spam bots or trolls.

Yeah, the crows were only present in the Investiture-Simulation, and thus were likely extinct and just being copied.
-
My theory is it is due to Hoid having some of Virtuosity's Investiture, he does get around a lot and seems to be trying to get Investiture from every Shard, while Design has none. That is how I interpreted Design not being effected.

Like, at most the powers of one character aren't fully explained in the book. But it explains everything you need to know to understand what is happening. So, yeah, shouldn't be a big deal.

As Werewolff said, it was during the SP3 reveal. And another thing, it has actually been updated a few times recently. There just hasn't been much to update. One is actually really cool, Isaac giving new Terris Alphabet symbols to some symbols we only had the Standard Steel Alphabet forms of.

They are sentient beings, that is about it. Sentient beings like entertainment. Look at Spren, they like doing things to entertain themselves.
-
Brandon actually said in a WoB that painters are as strong as they are due to not being controlled by another source (when let free by the machine, of course) But I do like the idea it is also due to Virtuosity's Investiture being more prone to Cognitive influence.

Sentient AI in Yumi and the Nightmare Painter
Firesong replied to Sasukerinnegan's topic in Yumi and the Nightmare Painter
I only really saw it as a case of industrial automatization of labour, but yeah, it also is about AI replacing artistic expression. Not sure how I didn't interpret that, it is pretty obvious now. -
About that Splintering...
Firesong replied to Mason Wheeler's topic in Yumi and the Nightmare Painter
But, it could also be seen as long before, as it would have already needed Hijo to exist, given it was made as a response to them. And Hijo are Splinters of Virtuosity. But at the same time, Splinters can be made willingly without one a full-on Splintering. This describes the Nightmares as related to Virtuosity splintering, instead of just being due to the father machine. Another idea of it happening around activation is very much just a theory. That Virtuosity might have felt the Hijo and the people of the world to in some way be an artistic creation of herself. And seeing them twisted and mutilated in such a way might have led her to a depression which ended in her Splintering. -
It has references to Warbreaker and Stormlight Archive, and one important character is from Stormlight, and another is a species introduced in Stormlight. But you don't need to have read it to understand the book, I don't think. It has less than Tress, though, I would say. So if you could enjoy Tress without having read a bunch of cosmere entries, you should be all good.

Yeah, it was also likely that all humans were Invested to some degree by Virtuosity, and thus they were able to be confused with the Hijo, who were her Splinters. That is part of my theory on what happened. The Commands used likely had to do with absorbing those with her Investiture, not being fully aware that they were the same.
