  1. I hope we get more on Chana and Shallan in this book. Brandon is pretty clear she is her mother Both have flaming red hair (supported by the prologue and by the art and her description in the flashbacks) Her mother has green eyes as well, also shown in the art Her mother tried to kill her when she found out she was a nascent Radiant Chana appeared in the first two books, and the way it was worded implied she wasn't seen many times or by many characters The way he responded when asked if her mom was a Herald is pretty telling Shallan considered her mother brave (WoR 45), and Brave is one of the Divine Attributes attributing with Chanarach Heralds tend to show an inverse of their attributes, and from what we see of her mother, she is absolutely terrified of the return of the Knights Radiant, to the point of losing her sanity. The Body focus of Chach is the Soul, and Shallan associated Testament as a blade with her mother's soul She had associated in the Skybreakers trying to stop the return of the Radiants The prologue said a Herald died in late 1167, Shallan's mother was killed in late 1167 Said prologue also mentioned Chanarach specifically near the beginning Like, this is so obvious it starts to kind of leave the realm of theory and become just, not-yet-spoken canon. But we can't accept it as canon until they explicitly say it.
  2. Wasn't Salash able to feel Jezerien die? And also, in the Epigraphs from Kalak They are able to feel deaths, though seemingly only the permanent ones, as the prelude shows them finding out via what Shardblades are at their meeting place (which I think might be in Shinovar, as that is where humans landed on Roshar, and would also give an explanation to Shin access to the Honorblades despite their reluctance to leave their country or walk on stone). So, I guess there is a difference there. But yes, I agree that Stormfather really tries to keep secrets. He only tends to answer when directly asked, and when directly asked, tends to be overly vague. Like with the Spiritual Realm Visions, when Dalinar asked "what was that place" in OB, he just said "it was no place", and doesn't elaborate. The man is overly obtuse and secretive about everything. And I don't really trust him.
  3. We have seen his experiments (well, we have seen the results), and already know what that bad thing is, at least part of it. We have seen that Cryptics tend to just die when you try and move their Cognitive Aspect into the Physical Realm. It likely has other aspects to it that makes it even worse, but I do feel the main thing it is referencing is just how to kills them. Which wouldn't be good for them as Hoid and Design are bonded, so her death would not be good on his soul or psyche, and he also cares deeply for her so wouldn't want her to die anyway.
  4. I meant the former, I believe that it still had the Identity and Connection, and the memory inherent in Investiture (the Investiture in living things, to be specific) through both of those. I guess it is similar to how Star Trek teleporters technically kill you and then use the same matter to recreate a copy that is still you (well, depends on if you believe in souls, but that isn't the point). Just, instead of matter it is Investiture.
  5. Lovely, thanks for taking care of them.
  6. Fair, sometimes people misread things based on other things they heard. I can see how you would see it that way, either could be right. This feels like one of the things Brandon would actively refuse to answer, he likes avoiding giving a definitive answer to the nature of Cognitive Shadows in terms of "are they actually the person", and on the nature of souls and the Beyond and all of that. He doesn't want to ever answer a lot of those questions, so that characters in-world can have whatever interpretation they want on "is there an afterlife" and "are cognitive shadows copies or the actual person", and not be inherently wrong about it.
  7. I feel it is actually quite substantiated, I feel it is pretty strongly implied something really bad happens at the end of SA5, not only have we had the whole series build up how bloody terrifying Odium could be with a smarter and more calculated Vessel, various Death Rattles and constant use of the phrase "Odium reigns" and (TLM Spoilers) Also, think of this, if they won in SA5, what would there be for the story in SA6-10? Like, I am pretty convinced that the end will go very badly for everyone involved.
  8. This map is also just making me really excited to see the full world map, and since we know the size of the planet, and where the equator and prime meridian are, it should be relatively easy to make all sorts of neat projections of it, like we were able to do with Roshar. Very, very, very excited for that.
  9. My personal theory on the star thing, is that he wasn't relying completely on the Star Maps, but that there was a degree of Shardic memory in there. He might not have been completely consciously aware of it, but I feel that he would have some level of instinctual "this is correct". He could also use the relative size of the sun, which I feel would also be felt in this instinctual connection to the past Vessels. It isn't absolute, and I am not gonna try and say this is exactly what happened, but it just makes sense to me that he would be influenced by that.
  10. How is it cynical at all? I am not saying she is a puppet, where did you get that idea? She is still definitely Yumi. I am actually kinda confused. I was saying that she dissolved, but her Investiture still had remaining Identity and Connection, and due to the nature of the Shroud, and his Connection to her, he was able to use his painting to call forth the Investiture that used to be her, and reformed it back into the same shape. I say she died as we had her dissolving away and losing awareness described to us and we saw it. And a Cognitive Shadow is essentially defined by that, Investiture taking the same shape as a soul in order to keep someone alive. That is how I made that interpretation.
  11. No problem, I just have the emails sent to me whenever a change occurs, and I check them. So I noticed it instantly. But yeah, again, make sure you get 75.163.21.106 as well. Just to make sure they don't keep doing it. As that is the account (or lack thereof) they were doing most of the trolling on. (not sure why people troll using their IP Addresses, seems like a bad idea)
  12. user 75.163.21.106 is spamming edits on the Kelsier page for purposes of spam and trolling, can somebody please take care of them, I can't even undo their edits as they are splitting it into so many. Joshua is definitely the same person, they are doing similar edits. Managed to fix the page, but some Keeper needs to ban them fast, they are definitely malicious and there is no good faith to be had. They said gemmel and Kelsier had intercourse, before deleting the entire page. @Starwatcher Feel I should be pinging Keepers and such to get this done as fast as we can. Annoyed that I was trying to go to sleep to be forced to get up and fix this because some immature child decided to vandalize things. Edit: Thank you LadyLameness, but shouldn't the IP address be blocked as well instead of just the Joshua account?
  13. True, it could be the agreement. But I interpreted the agreement as like, they help him become an Elantrian, and he helps them with something. But it definitely could be a factor in his transformation. His failure to transform I do definitely feel is a motivator in him stealing the Moon Scepter. This I feel can be further backed by He says now, and this was in 2015, after the Postscript would be released, and in 2018 So, I feel we can basically confirm he wanted it to help become an Elantrian. Also, maybe it is made out of Dor Metal! It is deeply connected with Aons and Selish Magic Systems, and its colour is So, it might be made out of either Dor Metal, or the Metal of either Devotion or Dominion. I at least feel it is definitely a God Metal, due to how deeply connected to Selish Investiture and magic it is. Hope this theory is right. Edit: And all we really know about the Moon Scepter (in terms of appearance) is it is a pale blue ruyi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruyi_(scepter)) with aons on the side. So nothing going against it being metallic. In fact, the colour definitely makes me think God Metal. As it does seem that Shards often effect moons (Like how the three moons on Roshar matches the colour of the Investiture of the three Shards in the system); like, we know the moons were there beforehand, but I doubt the colours are a coincidence; so it is possible that the moon on Sel is the same. Not exactly the same, but White Sand also has a very strange moon, as described in the astronomy section of the Omnibus. Scadrial has no moon so can't say anything for that. Nalthis does have a moon but we get very little on Rrendos. Thus having the same colour as the moon would connect it to the Investiture of inhabiting Shards.
  14. Brandon said yes, basically.
  15. As I said, we don't really know how far it extends. But the reason he could hurt Kelsier likely came down to it not actually being harm, Kelsier wasn't actually being hurt. His Cognitive Aspect was just responding with pain as it thought that that was what it was supposed to do. I am excited to learn more over time about all the exact rules of his curse. He likely can torment with emotional allomancy though, as he is allowed to hurt people emotionally. As you can see in his many appearances and in WoBs.
  16. Yeah, we don't fully know While we get how the lightweaving part works, at least we understand it pretty well. The "force projections" part that gives her the physical aspect is something we don't fully get yet, but we can get ideas of it.
  17. I remembered that the frame was just to give her that appearance, I'll have to reread that section. If I did misremember, I apologize.
  18. Storm Daddy is pretty consistent in just, not saying something unless directly asked, even if it is very important and relevant. He does that a lot.
  19. Oh, I'm sorry, my bad. We don't fully understand how Design was given a physical form, but it is definitely related to whatever Ishar was doing. We will likely get more on what exactly happened in SA5. It might have to do with the Lightweaving wireframe, but iirc that was mostly about how she looked the way she did, and how she didn't just instantly collapse and die like the Cryptics that Ishar tried to bring into the PR.
  20. Syl is mentally a child, and they show no signs of romantic interest in each other, please do not ship them together like that, it is creepy.
  21. Yeah, as I said, I doubt it was just to use Stormlight for Awakening, given that it is too big a risk and everything. He has more reason. But also, yeah, I forgot that he did know how to use it to stay alive, thanks for reminding me of those WoBs. Whatever it is definitely has to do with Nightblood (the book). Something happened that deeply changed him and Vivenna, and led to him abandoning Nightblood. We know he wasn't a big fan of the blade, but something seemed to break the camel's back.
  22. Fair, fair.
  23. We don't fully understand the exact rules of his curse (we mostly know larger ideas of "don't cause harm and don't eat meat", and the way it would work in specific circumstances. But a lot of it is still not exactly understood), but the main theory, which is the most supported, is just the fact that what he was doing wouldn't cause any actual harm to Kelsier, and he had no intention of causing harm, thus it didn't activate his curse. This is the one that I believe, as you could say he wasn't violating it as he wasn't really causing harm, the fact Kelsier felt pain more so came down to the fact he thought that he should, as he is used to a physical body that experiences pain normally. TLDR, he wasn't causing harm and had no intention to, therefore it let him. We will definitely be learning more as the cosmere goes on, and I believe it would come very soon.
  24. As I said, I don't mean he corrupted them, I stated that in my comment. I mean I feel he has an influence via making Roshar a place far more absorbed in emotion and passion, his Intent would influence everyone on the planet and bring forth Spren far more influenced by the emotions of the people. I feel you misinterpreted what I was trying to say. Because, yes, we know he doesn't have his Investiture in every spren, as we see spren get corrupted and they turn red and change form.
  25. I would consider killing a Vessel and bringing forth the rise of a new Vessel to be a pretty major impact on the books, personally. I am interested in what exactly Vasher is doing there. I know one thing he wants to do is learn how to Awaken with Stormlight, but it doesn't seem worth the risk at the moment, with the True Desolation and all. There is definitely something much deeper going on, and Brandon did say that there definitely is. He also says we will get more on him, Azure, and Nightblood in SA5, so I am looking forward to that.
