    Aria’s silence was a little too loud. Her silence got louder. “I’ll sit this one out,” she murmured. “Covia, your walking looks great.”

    “No magic or adventures?” Dayla snickered. “Sounds nice. What’s the clinic?”

    Dayla looked around, fiddling with her wire.

    “I…think so.” Aria noticed the old man. “You wouldn’t happen to know if this guy is meant to have a face, would you?”

    Dayla glanced back at Elan and Ave. "If he's dead, I'm bringing him back as a cyborg," she muttered, then followed Gem through.

    "Oh," Aria said quietly. What was one meant to say in a situation like this? Clearly her mother dying was important. Because someone had died, or because it was her mother?

    Dayla spun a wire through her fingers nervously. Then she started for the portal.

    “I believe you,” Dayla said. “I’ve got your back. And Diamond’s around here somewhere—he’s pretty sure he’s the toughest guy around.”

    Aria stared at her for a long moment, before looking around for some kind of stick, or pole, or…floating tube? The sign above it said “in case of emergency,” so…she threw it in the water. @mippo

    Aria looks around. “Someone help him!” “He’s drowning!”

    “Better than I do,” Aria agreed. “I just have a different angle.” Aria nodded once. “Sure. It’s a, uh, public pool.”
