  1. learn something new every day.
  2. That's what I was refrencing, but I've never though of them as the same thing. Also, no one ever calls matter energy or vice versa AFAIK, so why do it for the cosmere? I agree with the rest of the post.
  3. I would assume so, but It would be an interesting twist if Fuerochemistry doesn't work when pure due to not being universal. Alternatively, shardminds might not be able to be keyed.
  4. First, investiture isn't energy. I say it often myself, it's difficult to wrap one's mind around, but I cringed a few times while reading this otherwise awesome thread. It could work for other direction by using gravatational forces of other objects and potentially even parts of your body. However, that isn't how it works. I wonder if the SR would be timeless/spaceless if the investiture wasn't there.
  5. I suspect one needs to ally more gold and pull the silver out.
  6. The term "reverse compounding" as used in the post is not what most people call "reverse compounding." In the post it is specifically powering fuerochemistry with an outside source that isn't traditional compounding, while most people see it as powering allomancy with fuerochemistry. Storing A-P in F-P only lets you tap physical strength, at least how I understand it, and I believe the poster understands it.
  7. Do we know pure shardmetals can be used Fuerochemically?
  8. What is meant by burning here... is burning usually capitalized or not in the Mistborn books, or more specifically with the Lerasium?
  9. Fair enough. Though books don't seem instantaneous - Vin has time to see and push on specific things when burning durilium first, etc. All in all, I'd believe Kris is wrong because of time mesurement and observation, but we have to go with instantaneous until shown otherwise.
  10. At the same time != instantaneous. Runners start a race at the same time, but some have slightly faster reaction, and therefore quicker/sooner start times. This is Brandon using english, not picking his words carefully for a novel. At the same time means it cannot just stop - someone burning durilium cannot stop burning durilium before the other metals are gone, and perhaps if one had enough metals (likely through being a kandra with enough mass) one could run out of durilium, and either the burst would stop. or the burst would continue. but that hasn't happened, so we don't know.
  11. Didn't know this, but "one burst" isn't necessarily instantaneous. I see my headcannon was wrong, but there is no evidence that the burst is instantaneous, and even evidence that it isn't. Also, if it were instantaneous, speed of burn doesn't matter, which isn't cohesive, it would be an outlier. It wouldn't even fit with it's pure.
  12. We don't know how that investiture would effect it, especially as it wanes, only that it would. Even if they can only effect it shortly before it drops, it still provides significant mobility, and RLed projectiles wouldn't be invested, so would still be availiable. I meant you posted during my edit, since I accedentally posted before I was done.
  13. Harder, but not impossible. Also missed my edit.
  14. The circumstances I brought up, where only push/pullable projiles are availiable, the lashings would act like the projictile was against a wall. The metal being lashed increases the skimmer halfborn's manoverability. 1. We're not talking about a random halfborn though, were talking about a theoretical one, that can savant in metals that they want before the fight. Similar to how FFI says to savant in pewter. 3. It doesn't need to be skintight, only small enough not to pierce your chest too far. Grappling isn't an option, but the windrunner wouldn't want to grapple anyway. If one could get it down to a couple inches, then grappling opens up again, but you don't want to grapple anyway. 3. I believe shifting footing was mentioned in the tunnel/crevice fight when Wax is tossed mostly out.
  15. 1. We don't know. I personally believe that it burns it at an incredibly quickly, but not instantaneous, rate, and therfore the faster the N/D burns, the faster the target burns. This seems supported by Cadmiums effects and how un-invested non-burning metals go first. 2. I believe it also adds a little power, so someone being twice necroburst would get a little less than one being thrice necroburst, but there isn't any evidence for it, just headcannon. In theory, a single necroburst with enough electrum can do it, though this is also a method if the above is true. 3. Same as Durilium, they compound faster, no allomantic charge is gained beyond what would happen if you necroburst them after the invested part was gone.
  16. Compounding by hemalurgy is not viable due to identity interference, same way Vin couldn't compound. But if Sazed had filled aluminum to make an unkeyed metalmind, she could have burned it for the fuerochemical boost. However, my comment wasn't clear, and the spike is only needed to make unkeyed metalminds, not provide the actual compounding. I'm actually surprised at how weak the Set was, since they had unkeyed metalminds, they could have gone with the allomantic side of the metals they wanted Fuerochemically.
  17. If it takes 3 seconds to go anywhere in the cosmere, it is FTL for all distances further than the distance light can travel in 3 seconds. But it isn't instantaneous. I agree that those numbers are hogwash- disappearance and reappearance must take nanoseconds or less, but the time spend inbetween is unknown. It could take up to about a minute without being suspicious. (In my mind, if civil engineers have better info, have at it.)
  18. More likely miles because he wouldn't need the unsealed metalmind - One can compound a metalmind that one could tap if a fuerochemist. Since he's a compounder, it wouldn't even require an unkeyed metalmind, though finding Augers with the fuerochemical abilities they need, and can recruit them, then a H-F-A could get them farming those.
  19. Where was that mentioned? Is it the same as Kal being O4 without saying it? Good to know. True. I don't know that I would call it comparable offense. With F-Iron and the lashings, projectiles make the items good anchors. 1. True. Not really relevant as far as I can tell. 2. True, we don't know what those are. 3. WoB said its possible unless I'm remembering wrong. 3. Not true, anything partially in the bubble acts as if it is completely in the bubble, but one can still interact with things outside while partially inside.
  20. I call pre-O1 squires O0. Might just be me. What's the difference other than light efficiency? Other than training regimins. I was thinking an open dual, not a battlefield. Similar, but slightly different. Also, he may not have been thinking about the whole bendalloy savant thing that is almost the equivalent of steel-ish compounding. That reminds me that compounding as a mistborn is possible, and would help further, but I assume that is prohibited.
  21. I see where your coming from, and it's valid if the time is based off of distance. But... Teleportation taking time isn't the same as teleportation being FTL movement. (All FTlm is FTL travel, but not all FTLt is FTLm) I meant it takes (fake numbers) 1/2 a second between disappearing and reappearing, and each takes .1 second. Think of it more like travel through (non-Brandon)(seeker)[There],(non-Brandon)(Ender's Game)[outspace],(non-cosmere)(skyward)[Nowhere], you travel to the spiritual realm, and back. But since all places are 1, you can come back in another space. Travel to and from can take time, (with some caveats based on book), so the time to get from any place A to any place B is set. I could see an argument about Brandon not doing the same thing twice, but Elantris was written long before ____, and ___ had more interaction with the other place for magic. If it were FTLm it wouldn't be viable. It doesn't mean it doesn't take any time.
  22. Ninja'd my edit Would explain further?
  23. All I care about right now is wether you think my predictions/estimations (not calculations) are about right given those conditions, and if not, what you think they are. I'd drop O3 to 10% and O0-O2 to 5% if Bendalloy Savant.
  24. For the Scadrian to loose in such a situation, the Aon needs to activate faster than the metals and the teleportation needs to be instantaneous. We don;t know these times, so it's all speculation anyway.
  25. I would think it more likely that an alloy prevents the innate abilities of the metal (my term for what it, trellium, and [Stormlight Raysdium] have) than restricts them. We never saw the innate effects of Atium or Lerasium, unless the "side effect" is lerasium's innate.
