  1. Quest blinked once. This was quite the odd day. Then he lobbed his fireball at the bunny. Normally he would try to work things out but everyone knows that bunnies are natural predators.
  2. "Oh yes, Hi I'm Quest. I'm bad at fighting, but I can do some fire stuff if I have to. What about you?"
  3. Quest glanced behind him, the glowing red lights that had covered the forest had transformed into an army of red monsters that were creeping towards their clearing. "Ok, what's the plan, Bunny la- I mean Kealie and short fellow who doesn't have swords?"
  4. "Knives are vaguely swords" Quest said, "But are we really arguing about the classification of weapons when we about to be attacked?"
  5. "Do you have a better idea!?" Quest stared at the spinning red lights that were gathering into a monster. What had started out at a group of lights has grown more substantial, more real. It was stretching, limbs beginning to grow out of the main body. It looked canine in nature, it looked hungry. "You have swords right? Go stab it or something!"
  6. Quest began to pull his staff close, unconsciously backing away from the roar. "Oh that bad" he paused, looking at the (understandably confused and) short man who had ran out of the bushes. "That's bad, right? We should run? We should run." The red lights began to pulse brighter, swirling together, beginning to form a shape. As Quest looked behind him he saw that the crimson lights filled the forest, all of them pulling together into...something. Quest sighed, summoning a orb of fire on top of his staff. Of course it had to be a fight. He should have just stayed eating those berries.
  7. "You probably wouldn't know where I'm from, its very distant." Quest began to fiddle with his staff at the question. From the distance a deep roar sounded, pulsing through the forest. The trees around the duo shook, leaving falling to the ground. The floating red lights that were barely visible before began to pulse bright crimson. "That can't be good" Quest said.
  8. "Oh umm, sorry, yes. I'm mean yes I'm friendly. Sorry I just thought I saw your plant moving." Quest finally broke eye contact with the vine that he swore was swaying oddly. "Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Quest. Who are you?"
  9. "Hmmmmmm" he said, looking at the vines for a weird amount of time. The silence grew heavy but Quest didn't notice.
  10. Hmm, she probably noticed me. I should practice sneaking more often. He walked forward facing the girl. "Hello, was that loud scream you? Also what type of plant is your vine?" Quest said, while beginning to pull out his notebook.
  11. I'm assuming you are reading Way of Kings for the first time? If so the Envisagers are explained later, but don't worry about them too much.
  12. Interesting, I find myself doing most of the chores and cleanup while my older sibling takes a more leadership position.
  13. You guys have those recap and reactions of each book though.
  14. One option could be to go watch the Shardcast recaps of the books, they are a little unfocused but would catch you up to speed pretty fast.
  15. My current plan is to have such an engaging conversation that other second siblings want to join in. They will read it and either see how relatable our comments and woes are on second sibling-hood, or they will want to be enticed by our quality dialogue. My plot is foolproof. I assume we would do this by talking about second child stereotypes because that seems like a fun topic. I find that I am generally regarded as the responsible one in my family, is the same true for you Nameless*? *And anyone else who wants to join the chat.
  16. Quest squatted down by the bush, ignoring the mud that he was now kneeling in. Excitedly he open his satchel and riffled through, coming out with his notebook. He flipped through it while inspected the shrub. "Hmmm, how would I classify this." he muttered. After comparing it to leave sketches in his books he started jotting down notes. Long straight leaves with berries on the vine. Berries are a red, no a dark violet color. He paused. "Are they poisonous?" he thought aloud, and then ate a handful of berries. He waited a moment, listening to the bird calls. No immediate effect when eating berries, tho- "AAAAAAAAAAAAAOof!" Startled, he looked around and in the process of doing so dropping his notebook. Seeing nothing, he concluded it must have been the wind. Quest went to pick up his fallen notebook when he realized that the wind doesn't scream or sound like a women, at least usually. Forlornly, looking at the bush he got up, putting away his notebook. Carefully, he walked forward through the woods towards the disturbance. Even though he wasn't technically trespassing, he kept a careful eye on his surroundings. Anyone could have claim over this woods. He had been aware of this the whole time, Quest just hadn't had a reason to care until now. Peeking around a tree he saw girl with a vine on her shoulder, and wait, the plant seemed to be alive. She was on the ground facing away from him. Reassured Quest watched, waiting to see what she did. This was much more interesting than the berries.
  17. Do I just start adding stuff to the worlding document? How much freedom of creativity do I have, I don't want to mess anything up. I have very weird thoughts for a character, is that ok or should I keep things simpler?
  18. I left out Jasnah because she didn't bond the sibling/tower spren. Navani is literally the tower and queen, i.e. the butcher. Didn't even think about Navani being under Gavilars crest, would it change when she wed Dalinar? I just thought it was interesting how well Jasnah fits the title of Butcher Queen, I didn't think this fact was related to the theory in any significant way.
  19. Hello, I am a fellow second child. I just have to say, I'm not surprised the oldest siblings got the first thread, they do everything first. We must now beat them at their own game. And also that is a very impressive lineage of second siblings.
  20. I’m not sure what you mean by this. At the time, Leras was Preservation, so any reference I made to either of them was meant to signify the same entity. I was trying to say how most shards are not a perfect meld of shard and vessel. Like with Rayse who has a difference of opinion with his shard, or Ruin who has just taken over Ati at this point. I feel like their are moment for shards when the vessel is more prominent than the shard. Im not sure if that was meant for me, but I disagree. I think they will be suffering from major anxiety from constantly needing to find excuses for everything, but I don’t think they’ll be a jerk. What I meant by this was I don't think Mercy will be merciful in the traditional sense of the term. As we can see with Autonomy she just cares about self autonomy, not autonomy for anyone else. And it feels like a very Brandon thing to have Mercy be maybe not a jerk, but not a benevolent shard.
  21. The only issue with Dalinar is it specifically calls out the roll as a queen. I tend to listen to YouTube videos while working and someone(Lost in Discovery I think) mentioned that the pictures are portents of the future and are not to be understood initially. Granted it is a stretch, maybe looking for meaning where there isn't any and it's a wink to Dalinar being a butcher in his youth. I devoured the books over a few weeks and ROW was already out. So it could be in reference to the OB reveal as to what Dalinar was like in the past. I am just beginning my rabbit hole journey. Lol. I think this makes more sense when applied to Dalinar than Navani, this is more likely a callback than foreshadowing. Though if you are talking about Butcher Queens how can you leave out Jasnah? Odium is the big bad, we have a lot of stuff from Brandon about how much of a jerk he is. He has already taken out four shards, how more a big bad can you be?
