  1. The monstrosity looked around for a second before lumbering back into the portal. Quest stood over Kealie and tried to force green light into her. Hopefully that would wake her up.
  2. The rest of the monstrosity crawled out of the portal and began to walk after Eej. It's head was scraping the roof, it was covered in dark green scales and had four arms with eyes in the palms.
  3. The lantern in the witch's hand suddenly burned bright crimson as the book in her other hand flipped open. The pages were covered with arcane script and circles, that were all glowing. She landed on a page and looked down, muttering something. One of the arcane circles at the top of the stairs also flared red. It became a red pane of light rather than a wooden wall and a large clawed hand reached out to grab at Eej and Vance. The witch sighed, "You can't run away from me in my own domain. Be a dear and come down."
  4. The witch flicked her hand and the runes on the door flashed red. The doors slammed shut with Eej and Vance trapped inside. She beckoned for Vance to follow her, "This way please, lets not have this take all night."
  5. So. What the crap is the Origin? We know for a fact that the highstorm leaves Shinovar weak and comes back at full force after passing through the origin. This is this the majority of what we know. There is so much empty space that we don't understand. Therefore, commence theories: Is the Origin the residence of Honor's Perpendicularity? If so the Stormfather would just came back after a hard day of being a storm and spreading investiture and get refueled. I always thought that the highstorms were Honor's Perpendicularity but after checking the Coppermind I find myself mistaken. If the Origin was Honor's Perpendicularity I was still have to be able to move around easily because we see that it is mobile. Was the Origin originally part of the highstorm system? We know that the highstorms have existed on Roshar pre-shattering but we also know that the system has been drastically changed since then. I could see the Origin being added as an afterthought and that is why the highstorms are messed up, needing to be refueled. Same storm of different ones? Does the Origin make a new storm or refuel the old one? I always assumed that it was the same storm but we don't really know. Was the Origin the origin of Roshar? I don't know, the Origin feels like a very important name that I wouldn't just give to the storm cycle place. Something more has to be going on here. There are so many questions about the Origin and I want to hear some weird theories on what you guys think. Discuss.
  6. The are only four shards I currently think are rebelling or in some way are opposed to their intent. I'm mostly just reiterating things people have said from how I see it. Harmony because of how he views that as equal destruction and preservation and that is just a very hard balance to keep. We see how he can take limited actions due to his intent and I would assume that he strains to overreach his intent to affect things. Odium is the other obvious one. I think he is generally in line with the intent but his desire for dominance and control seems to be out of line with the intent occasionally. Whimsy's vessel, has in all likelihood, degraded to a puppet as Ati did. I can't image anyone who could actually follow Whimsy's intent well. You could make no rational decisions and it is beyond my imagination to think of someone who could do this. And Autonomy because Autonomy is weird. I can't decide what exactly I think Autonomy's intent is but it probably is being defying it somehow. She is doing so much odd stuff, I would assume something eventually would be against the intent.
  7. She shrugged. "Stereotypes. Well, on with the sacrifice then?"
  8. The one rational part of Quest's brain noted that this girl seemed to faint quite a lot. Other than that it was just panic and worry. He breathed deeply trying to calm himself, and looked down the vines that seemed to be trying to get his attention. "Hello vines? Can you.. communicate with me?" Quest asked, tilting his head. He looked over to Antin for help, they needed to do something fast and he seemed to be Quest's biggest ally, odd as he was. @The Aspiring Archivist
  9. "Umm, Kealie? What should we do? Vance is about to be sacrificed." Quest began to pace, nervously fiddling with his staff.
  10. "I built it over time. I'm not going to live in the woods like some savage." the witch said. Quest began worry profusely, looking over to Kealie and Antin for a plan.
  11. The witch turned away from the group beckoning for Vance to follow her. Her wurm began to dug back under ground and quickly vanished. The witch lady walked briskly leading Vance to a large mansion. It was a looming building built out of logs and stone. The walls were burned with arcane circles and symbols that flared red as the lantern grew closer. She walked up to the front doors as they opened on their own. She looked over her shoulders at Vance, gesturing for him to follow her in.
  12. I thought my phone was just being screwy but apparently not.
  13. Miyako paused, confused as Hyron stiffly walked away from her. She sat there for a moment trying to figure out what had just happened. Whatever, if he was being weird, she wasn't going to stop what she was doing. Miyako stood up, stretching. She started the movements again, going through the familiar motions. She intended to complete two or three more cycles and get a real exercise.
  14. Miyako stopped after 20 minutes, having finishing the cycle. She walked over to Hyron and plopped down, breathing hard. After catching her breath she turned to them, "You feeling any better yet?"
  15. "Umm, self sacrifice is good.... but I think your taking it too far."
  16. Sadly, not yet. I'm optimistic for the future thought.
  17. “Um, has it ever come to you that there’s a REASON FOR THAT?” Kealie slipped off Eej. “Lady, if you don’t want a whupping, I recommend you leave.” "This man seems happy to be sacrificed", the lady replied. "If you want me to use force I can, but it shouldn't have to come to that. We can all be civilized." Quest was quiet worried about where this conversation was going. "Umm, Vance are you ok? Do you need help?" Quest tentatively asked. Miyako was quite pleased with the ship. It was simple and worn, but it felt sturdy. Like an old shoe, the wear and tear made it comfortable. After touring herself around the ship she meandered back to Hyron on the deck. She nodded to him and began to do her stretching for the day. Miyako went through the trained motions, flowing from each move with glacial speed. Miyako went through the moves with her eyes closed, letting her mind drift. It helped her refocus, to stay sharp. With the wind drifting through her hair, carrying the salty spray of the sea, Miyako finally relaxed for the first time in what felt like months.
  18. If felt good back to be on the ocean, it remined Miyako of the her younger days. "It gets better. Probably", Miyako said, poorly holding back a smirk, obviously hiding amusement. She wandered away to go explore the rest of the ship. "Mm, just follow me", the witch replied. "I have a more sanitary location for sacrifices. We don't want to the blood to leak all over the grass. Nasty business that is." Quest paled. Was Vance actually going to give himself up to the witch lady? "Umm, excuse me witch lady?" "Yes?" she replied, looking over at Quest. "Are you sure you need a sacrifice? What exactly are doing?" "Oh yes, just a new summoning. It requires a fresh corpse and you happen to be the closest source of bodies", she shrugged. "It's nothing personal."
  19. Miyako patted Hyron on the head. "Stop whining, we are all in the same boat", she paused, tilting her head. "Literally I guess."
  20. "Umm Vance, could you please not leave us? We really need you right now."
  21. Miyako nodded. "Where are our rooms?" The women turned to Kealie, looking at her. She was older, with graying hair tied in a bun. She wore a ragged gray and red dress and carried herself with a confident bearing. The women carried a iron lantern, burning with a hollow crimson flame and a thick tome under her other arm. She sighed, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but one of you need to die," she stated. "It is absolutely critical for my experiment. Submit one of your party willingly or I will have to use force and all that."
  22. Quest tripped over his own cloak, scrambling to get away from the wurm. "STAB IT! Stab it dead Vance!" Quest began to summon fireballs. Hopefully they could finish this demon wurm off as they did the death bunny. Because the universe decided that would be much to easy, Quest saw a women shrouded in a cloak behind the wurm, twisting her hands in arcane patterns. She seemed to have summoned the demon wurm.
