  1. I have a bevy of plastic theater swords, dull fencing rapiers and a wooden katana thing. Also spear guy I'm sorry but swords are way cooler.
  2. Miyako smiled, feeling the spray of water across her face. It had been to long since she had been at sea. The main ship was approaching as the sailor, Geff, pulled them across the waves. When they finally got to the ship, the crew raised their boat out of the sea. Miyako was the first to jump onto the ship, surveying her surroundings and the crew. She turned to Yerik and asked, "how long will it take to get to Orteo?"
  3. Miyako responded to the man in the rowboat, "You got everyone your going to get off this island. Now let's leave, we can chat on the boat." Miyako was ready to leave the island; it did no one any good standing around, simply eating up time. Miyako mercifully didn't laugh at Hyron, at least not yet. She should probably wait to tease them until they were off at sea.
  4. "Eh. I've seen better" Miyako said, sizing up the ship. Upon hearing Hyron she glanced at them; were they actually scared of the ocean, among all things? Tides, this Hwindi really needs to leave this island.
  5. "But something had to have made it, right?" Quest replied, squinting at the thin line of smoke snaking across the horizon.
  6. Miyako was in cleaning her blade when Hyron swung in. She sheathed her blade and stood up, shouldering her pack. "Are you guys finally ready to go?" Miyako asked.
  7. “Not at all. Any of the Kukonandi can bond them—or just about anything else. When you turn thirteen, a Channeler helps you create a channel between you and an object. You share some of yourself with it—your vitality, your senses, some capacity for thought and emotion… stuff like that. You can close the channel temporarily, but cutting off your Bonditem altogether is quite a bit harder.” ”There was one of us skilled in Ocumeritation, a long time ago, who basically saw a stick move. From then on it was sentinent. Of course, she had to justify how in her mind, so she thought of something that made sense. And thus Bonditems have been in practice ever since.” Quest deflated, putting his pencil down. "Oh, so it's your magic not the vine itself. That's cool, I guess." Quest put away his notebook. He sighed and in doing so, saw something in the distance. Was that smoke? "Guys, I think I see something."
  8. "What can they do? How does one bond them? They have emotions, does that mean they are sentient? Umm sorry, should I stop asking questions?"
  9. "Excuse me, but where exactly did you get those vines?" Quest asked while straightening his glasses.
  10. Quest traveled. And walked right by Kealie and Eej, scribbling observations in his notebook as he glanced up at the vines, fascination in his eyes.
  11. Quest slung his satchel over his shoulder and picked up his staff. "Packed and ready to go." Quest said. And once we get on the road I can question Kealie about her vines, Quest thought as he pulled out his notebook
  12. Quest thought this guy might be hiding something, but who was he to ask. Quest knew better than most how everyone had secrets. Also Quest didn't want this shadow man to eat his soul or something, better safe than sorry. He nodded and proceeded to go through his pack, getting some rations to eat. Quest was ravenous, he would eat anything. Except bunny stew of course, you have to draw a line somewhere. In between bites of food he spoke, "When are we going monster hunting?"
  13. Quest was confused with this new information before looking into those inky black eyes and deciding not to question it. "So who are you again?" Quest said, "Sorry but I didn't quite catch your story last night, being asleep and all."
  14. "Good, I'm feeling a lot better from yesterday," Quest said, walking over to the fire, "How was your rest?"
  15. Quest woke up to the sun peeking out from behind the skyline, throwing long shadows across the forest. He slowly sat up, yawning. That was the best night's sleep he'd had in a while. To make it even better he had new friends: Vance and Kealie. That thought put a smile on Quest's face before he remembered what he was doing today. Now he had to fight another monster. Quest sighed, at least it can't be worst than a death bunny.
  16. Miyako left behind the acolyte, she was on the clock and he would slow her down. It was a challenge, and if there was one thing Miyako loved, it was a challenge. She abandoned the stealth that she had to employ before, and sprinted through the woods trying to track her bounty. Miyako was grinning as she hunted for death. (Time skip of an hour) Miyako leaped forward feeling the malicious energy of her enemy's blast ripple past her face. She flowed to the side, sliding through his barrage of death magic, taking every chance to pull closer to his position. Her stream of water was on the defensive, nullifying beams of death energy by knocking them to the side. He was desperate now which meant her hunt was nearing to a end. This was when the target had nothing to loose, so she had to end this quickly. He all but had one foot in the grave and he knew it. He was a scholar who had studied into the nature of the death element and Soulcaging. He had fallen on hard times and had his funds cut off, becoming desperate. Apparently, he had gone too far, losing his grasp on sanity as he delved to deep into secrets better left forgotten. After losing it and killing a small town the bounties had started to show up. Miyako knew all of this but she didn't care, this was just the next battle. Another fight to be won. Miyako saw a hole in his attacks and leapt forward, driving her stream of water towards his chest. He stumbled back narrowly deflecting the stream with a blast of energy. Miyako kept the momentum as she came in as a storm of steel. She flowed from one attack to the next, in tandem with her stream of water, a rushing current of slashes and stabs. He began to gather death in his left hand but it was too late, her sword had already pierced his chest. She had won. The lifeless husk feel to the ground, crimson pooling around it. Miyako stood victorious, listening to the few birds that hadn't fled from the battle. She took her hat, wanting to the feel the sun on her face. It was a beautiful day. (Miyako makes her way back to where Yerik is, and this whole sequence was like 2 hours.)
  17. "Ok, see you in a hour or two," Miyako said, beginning to pull out her sword, "I can catch my bounty by then."
  18. "Manipulation of the unmanipulatable is blasphemous. Always. This has long been held to be true in my society." Hyron thought. They thought for some time. Then, they spoke. "I will go with you. I will venture into the world. But first, I will tell my people, and my Elders." Hyron turned back to the stranger. "Trust me," Hyron said softly, "They will not listen to you." Miyako nodded, satisfied. She had victory and the Hwindi was going to travel with them. She didn't know why she cared so much, a minute ago she had wanted to stab them repeatedly. But now....now she wanted to show the world to this Hwindi, maybe even get to duel with them again. Miyako leaned against a tree and spoke up, "No one cares what qualifies as blasphemous, I've killed my handful of priests and I still sleep easy enough at night. Let's go chat to your village then leave, we don't have all day. Also, what's your name, both of you?"
  19. "Honestly, I don't think most will care." Miyako shrugged, "You will look odd, sure, but the Orteo Chain is the center of civilization. There are plenty of weird people, you'll be just another face among the crowd."
  20. "The world hurts everyone, it has hurt me to. But nothing is going to change if you stay in your forests. Come explore again, come show everyone who you are. It won't get better unless you change it."
  21. "Prove me wrong," Miyako said, folding her arms, "just because the world is full of terrible people and dangers it is also a place a wonders. Come explore what is out there, the magics and people that make life worth living. And if I'm wrong? Well then, I guess your right. But you will never know, if you stay here." Miyako stayed still during the entire conversation, looking the Hwindi right in the eye. Tides, she hadn't had this much fun since that fight with the dragon. This Hwindi was something else.
