  1. Miyako paused, looking down at the vine. "Are you trying to hold my hand or attack me?" Miyako asked.
  2. "Sorry", Miyako said with a lopsided grin. "What kind of training do you want?"
  3. "So, you don't want to train with us?" Miyako shrugged, "suit yourself."
  4. Miyako turned to Hyron, flipping her hair behind her shoulders. Her eyes were dancing, alight with the thrill of the fight. "What are you going to be doing?" Miyako asked, tilting her head.
  5. Miyako walked over to his knife and picked it up, turning back towards Yerik. "If we give you a way to fight back. You would be a force to be reckoned with. Six weeks, if your willing to work. That sound good to you?" Miyako said standing over Yerik, holding the knife out to him. Quest nodded, pleased, though still embarrassed about his rant. He was going to have a scholars dream decoding these runes. Imagine what he could do once he supplemented it into magic. "So, umm, lets set up camp outside?"
  6. Harmony intrinsically changed the mechanics of allomancy during the catacendre. We don't really know what that means but he probably made allomancy weaker. But mostly there was only one mistborn and very quickly the allomancy genes got dilated. Becoming a mistborn was already very unlikely when noblemen were having children and when half skaa or full skaa start a new population the gene pool will be much less conductive for allomancy. Allomancy in Era 2 is generally much weaker than Era 1 and one way we can see that is the lack of mistborn.
  7. Hi, welcome to the shard! Now I'm curious, who's popular opinion says you don't exist?
  8. "I slept on the ground, that wasn't your fault though. I'm sure your sleeping bag is great. But, what if we take it nice and slow and go through this house, learn its secrets. We can sleep outside and only go into rooms we have cleaned out. This witch could do things that I want to do. She has some artifacts that are priceless wonders. And if you want to give us more lessons this seems like the prime place." Quest paused and realized what he was saying. He blushed and quickly backpedaled. "Umm, I mean if, umm, your ok with that Vance."
  9. "Normally, yes. " Quest replied, "But I really want to see what is in this house."
  10. I'm an Elsecaller. I generally fit all the traits, logical, wise, cautious, and I do seek self improvement. But it's hard to feel like I super fit since they are such an open and general order but I'm satisfied being an Elsecaller. Also I think that transformation is one of the most coolest and useful surges, so that's pretty good also. I also would fit into Windrunners and Truthwatchers pretty well.
  11. Miyako ducked under the wall of force, rolling beneath Yerik. She came up on the other side and called on her stream of water, swiping it at him.
  12. Miyako stepped to the side as Yerik sailed through the air at her.
  13. "Ok, your goal is to try to land a hit on me. I might attack back, but I just want to see the full force of your current abilities." Miyako said, getting into stance. "Hold nothing back."
  14. Miyako shrugged, as she turned towards Hyron. "I've been training since I could hold a sword. It's not that hard." Vance flicked some monster goop off his blades. “Lesson number three: take a minute to breathe before figuring that out.” Quest nodded and sat down, before his face lit up. "Wait, The witch left!", Quest exclaimed. "We can take the house!"
  15. Miyako's sword was a blur as she swatted the knife away. "How practiced are you at..." Miyako said, waving at the knife as it clattered to the floor, "knifing?"
  16. Miyako pulled out her sword. ”We need to see what you can do before we train you”, Miyako said, “whatever you can do I can block it. And if I can’t that’s even better.”
  17. "If you push you hard we can get you into fighting shape in six weeks", Miyako said, tilting her head, making it a question. "What else can you do besides floating and shields?" Quest watched as the witch stepped into the red portal and vanished. They quickly mopped up the rest of the monsters and Quest slumped against the doorframe, drained from his excessive use of magic. "Umm, what do you want to do now?" Quest said, looking across the absolutory destroyed room.
  18. Quest didn't like fighting. But he was still very accustomed to the battlefield. Quest began to summon fireballs, pinpricks of light that grew until a raging flame. He stood at the doorway watching the entire fight, watching the tide of the battle. Every ten or so seconds when a fireball reached watched carefully waiting for the moment to strike. When Quest saw a weak point in the tide of monsters, or a Vance or Kealie needed assistance he lobbed a fireball and resumed survey of the room. Quest sighed, back in the trenches, but something was different this time. A faint ember of hope was nestled deep within the ashes of Quest's grief. Maybe it will be different this time. Maybe this time, it won't end with in with three broken souls. Sheltering that ember, Quest fought once again. Arcaene grabbed a knife from the rack and slit her wrist, leaving an oozing trail of blood that fell to the floor. A small pain. She held it over the transportation circle and let the blood wash over the runes. They drank up the blood, drawing power from the sacrifice. Sadly, the circle wouldn't be stable without a full sacrifice, but it would serve for her purposes. She wouldn't have time to set the coordinates. But the man cutting through her horde didn't seem likely to let her walk out. Anywhere would suffice. Walking her way around the circle, it continued to devour her blood, drawing on her power. It was glowing with a sickly red light and a static pane of red began to break and reform in the middle. A vortex of possibility, one that she bent the full force of her willpower on stabilizing. Even though Arcaene had lost today she could rebuild. A strategic retreat that would pay off in the long run. Every sacrifice was worth it eventually. "Good! Good!" Miyako grinned, pulling back her water, "now we are going to do that again, until its as easy as breathing."
  19. The witch sighed. This had gone much worst then expected. Unless the short man was all bravado, her mansion was lost. And she had just finished the new floor. She turned her back on the battle. Every creature that she could summon was already attacking the intruders, so she set her sights on a different task. As battle between a tide of demon and one man raged behind her, Madam Arcaene got to work.
