  1. What do you have against Karn? He is the best robot. But I guess it is fair to note his questionable decision skills. 9/10 for the magic reference. Ah, my bad. Due to the solid moral principle my revised score is 8.5/10
  2. "Can you see the runes that connect those circles to the rest of the magic array? The umm, runes that are charging the traps?" Quest said, straining to look up the staircase. "If you could cut the traps off from energy then they can't activate."
  3. "Umm, sure? Not to sound rude, but could you go first?" Quest smiled, in spite of his fear, "You can absorb magic and I can heal you if something goes wrong."
  4. Quest looked out past the foyer. It was a large roomed ceiling that accommodated both two winding staircases and a grand hallway. At the top of the second floor he saw another hallway leading deeper into the house. Runes ran through the hallways and across the doorways, the veins throughout the mansion. "Ummm, there seems to be plenty of options. I, umm, I don't know. Where would you like to go?"
  5. "Hmmm, very interesting. I think it might be time soon move into the other rooms besides this foyer. Vance warned us about the danger, but if we are careful it should be fine."
  6. "Hmmm, maybe your right. It might be good to leave that alone." Quest said, disappointed. He shrugs, "Magic is sadly fickle, but that would have been a cool ability. Back to our research then? How has your work been going?"
  7. Quest ran up smiling, helping Antin up. "That was amazing! It's that simple! I guess you just have to absorb more energy, and then we can practice your magic!"
  8. I feel like I don't like paying things. Also, why is the payment directionally based? Backwards paying is my preference. Though, to end things on a positive note, it feels much more intimidating with a golden tiger staring into my soul, demanding I pay him. 6/10
  9. Quest tilted his head, thinking. "Hmm, I..., hmm. It feels very natural. I guess I just feel my well of energy and bend it to my will? The first step for you would be being aware of your reserves. Hmm, I've never thought about this before.
  10. "But have you ever tried to control it or have you just accepted it as truth?"
  11. Miyako nodded and turned to Hyron, "You need anything?" @CalanoCorvus "Oh, that's a relief. But, that is very interesting. Could you learn to channel the energy somehow...? Would you like to go test this? If you could control the energy you syphon off of other magic sources that...that would be an incredible ability."
  12. "I think you did do that, I don't see anything else that could have made it happen. Is it, hmm, like a side effect of magic? You said this has happened before?"
  13. Quest was trying to write with magic in midair. It was harder then he thought it would be. He could easily do one rune phrases, such as "fire" and "light" but when he tried to add extra commands they usually fell apart. He stood in the middle of the room, holding his finger out to write with fire. His magic stood still, blazing in script, trying to form a sentence. Going slowly Quest completed his first rune and moved onto the connecting text. Commanding his magic to stay still in midair took extreme concentration from Quest, and he still had to get the rune's written perfectly. Suffice it to say, it was hard. Quest stood taunt, a bead of sweat rolling down his face, as he slowly completed the rune. He moved onto the third one, the second command that modifies the first rune. He heard Antin call out behind him, but Quest couldn't spare any attention. He continued with the writing of the last rune, fiery text commanding the unive- A wave of intense heat spread through the room, and Quest lost control. The runes burned away, dissipating from the air. At least they hadn't gone off as half text, as the last one had been disastrous. Quest sighed, and marked a paper at his feet. The paper was filled with numbers, filled with trials. Quest turned to Antin and was shocked, "Antin, you-you look normal!" Quest was very confused by this development, had Antin released the flare of heat? "What happened?" Miyako glared at Geff as he walked away. "Get what you need, and then we leave. Someone or something has to have a better way off this island. We just have to find it." Miyako shrugs, "Clean cut as that."
  14. Quest nodded. "Thank you. I...I can get caught up in ideas easily, but please tell me if I assume to much. I shouldn't have sprung that on you." A small smile was on Quest's face, though he looked at Antin to make sure he realized that the importance that Quest cared, because Quest did care. "But thank you for coming to sit with me. Now that that is cleared up....question: Do you think we should organize the runes by commonality and type or should we incorpora..." *fade out as the camera pans over the forest and music starts to play*
  15. "Umm, ok." Quest said, slowing walking out of the main room, eyes lingering on Antin as he looked over the papers. Quest felt like a ember was dying here, but he didn't know how to respond without smothering it. He wanted to help Antin, but....there wasn't much to do. Defeated, Quest walked out to the camp and prepared dinner. When he looked out at the house and the surrounding woods, what had seemed exciting and fresh in the morning felt... subdued. There was still a curiosity, a drive to press on but also it was tinged with hesitancy. Worried that this hope would be ruined by hasty actions and well intentioned blunders. Quest always felt helpless in these situations. He could see the problem but didn't dare try to fix it. He eventually sighed and picked up his food. Quest ate, staring quietly at the burgeoning sunset, alone.
  16. Quest looked deep at Antin, trying to find why what had fled across his face. Had Quest said something wrong? Was he hurting Antin? "Umm, Antin? Would you like to grab something eat? We have been at this for a while, a break could do us good."
  17. Quest smiled, the expression growing to fill his whole face. "It is nice." Quest said, nodding. "I think this will work well. I have the large vision, the ideas, the- the instinctual connections" Quest began to pace, growing more excited, "and if you could provide the numbers and meticulous understanding...well then, we could do great things. I think we are going to be good friends."
  18. Quest paused, seemly thinking through something in his head. "Thats....actually a really good idea Antin. That would quickly expand our understanding of words and the functions that connect ideas...." Quest trailed off, looking over to Antin. "Do you do this of work? Do you like this?"
  19. Ok, I have thoughts. Shallan: I imagine you as 15-18, with blonde hair and a petite build. Shining: I imagine you as around 18-23ish, tall, quiet, glasses and black short hair.
  20. Welcome to the shard! I hope you enjoy all the stuff here. To change your member title: go to your profile and in the top right hand corner below the ribbon you will see edit profile. After clicking on that, member title is the first option to change. There is also a reputation title that is dependent upon the number of upvotes you have. For example I am currently a Prelan and you are a Spren. Hope that helps! Slight side tangent, when I saw your name I thought it said ThatRedHat and I was ecstatic, another hat enthusiast! And despite my bad eye sight, that is still a most quality username.
  21. "Ah yes, umm, hmmm. I keep the copies of rune circles over their and, umm, I keep theories and possible connections over there. Though to be fair most of my speculation ison the rune pages themselves..." Quest paused. "A bad one. Yes, I have a bad system, if you could even call it a system." Quest smiled at Antin, awkwardly gesturing at his piles of pages. "Organizing is not a talent of mine." "There has to be a better way off this rock." Miyako folded her arms, looking him hard in the eyes. "My crew is going to find it."
  22. "No, no. Don't worry yourself with these", Quest said gesturing at his piles of paper, half of them now knocked over. "I had a system, I can clean it up I'm sure. Miyako began seething, growling quietly at Geff. Who has he to ignore Yerik like that? Just because the acolyte was a little timid didn't know what he was doing. Miyako called out to the captain, "You can't fight the ocean by nailing trees to your broken ship! We are actually going to go solve the problem." Miayko yelled, gesturing to Hyron, Yerik and her. She continued quieter, determined, "we are going to find a way off this island."
  23. Miyako paused, noting Yerik's tone. "We are stuck either way. Curse or no curse we need to get off somehow." Quest jumped up, spilling papers. "Ah! This is great! Now that we have found connections we can began to find patterns. Thank you Antin, this will go so much faster with your help."
