  1. We sort of know it can potentially be a factor. Maybe.
  2. It should be editable by everyone now.
  3. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0An26dy4dXmx6dGEzRnJBZHoxNFc3SzFhb3cySmN1aGc&usp=sharing Check if this works. I've never tried to create a chart on Google Docs before. Argent, I put Dalinar in as a Bondsmith but I could change if it's the majority opinion. I thought he was better there. Oh, and about Darkness/Nalan, since it's pretty damnation sure he's a Herald, I didn't think he should be there. If we add him, do we add other Heralds as well? If they are Surgebinders, their orders should be obvious. And they wouldn't take the oaths of Radiants either.
  4. karaokeang and WeiryWriter suggested that we create a database for known/suspected Surgebinders here. I've compiled every name I can think of. Let me know if you'd like somebody else added to the list or have any suggestions about the formatting. 1) Windrunners Kaladin Confirmed - Has taken the 2nd Ideal Szeth-son-son-Vallano Confirmed - Not a Radiant, does not have Nahel bond 2) Skybreakers 3) Dustbringers 4) Edgedancers Lift Confirmed - [sTEELHUNT] 5) Palah's Order Ym Suspected - Has a Nahel bond 6) Lightweavers Shallan Davar Confirmed - Has a Nahel bond Elhokar Kholin Suspected - Seems to have attracted Cryptics 7) Elsecallers Jasnah Kholin Confirmed - Unknown 8) Bondsmiths Dalinar Kholin Suspected -9) Stonewards 10) Ishar's Order Google Docs Version
  5. Let me hijack it instead. I'll finish it and post it in WoR spoiler forum in 15 minutes or so. Okay, here: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/4327-known-surgebinders/
  6. Do you have a Steelhunt code? It is not only Windrunners that hold stormlight in them.

    Hello

Sure, potentially wrong world. That was what I meant when I said this:

    Hello

Splinters in Sel are the Aons at the center of Seons and the Skaze which we haven't seen in Elantris or TES. If Shaod is caused by Splinters being Invested in people, Brandon never told us. But I don't think that's likely. Truth be told, we don't know what causes the Shaod or how the people taken are chosen. Though, that is the way it works in Nalthis. The Returned are Invested with Endowment's Splinters which are called Divine Breaths. So it's not a bad theory. Just wrong world.
  9. She must have. We know Radiants had that ability. There are mentions of fast travel to/from Urithiru by non-Surgebinders in WoK.
  10. Yeah, I agree. Heralds are messed up, guys. Shalash who is supposed to be honest and creative goes around destroying art. Nalan, just and confident, is like a bitter, burned-out cop who's seen too many bad stuff.
  11. Not really. It just means they would have a different way of absorbing and holding stormlight. Windrunners do it by inhaling it and holding their breath. But the others don't seem to do it the same way. Shallan or Ym certainly didn't breath anything in.
  12. Plus, it's Bondsmithing. That has to correspond to metal in Ten Essences.
  13. I'm kinda glad it was redrawn. That guy doesn't look like how I picture Kaladin in my mind at all. Strength doesn't fit at all. For one thing it's completely redundant, stormlight already makes Surgebinders stronger, faster and more durable. They don't need another ability for that. Also, strength can't be a Surge. I mean, Surges are natural forces. How can strength be called a natural force?
  14. Pretty sure that conversation would end with Kaladin's eyes burned out. So anyway:
  15. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Qc95BUbIFnxw4WIeu1HnmC6pu_WxjXgvfou_KY8pY40/edit?usp=sharing Ym Interlude from the El Cerrito, California reading.
  16. Okay, I'm done. I'm checking it for mistakes. If anyone finds one, let me know. Also, Nalan, assuming the guy in black and silver is him, is one zealous bastard. I'm pissed. And Ym is definitely from the 5th Order. He is learned/giving, and he used growth or regrowth on the boy.
  17. Personally, I think all Orders have a passive ability. Kaladin and Szeth don't need to breath while holding stormlight. We haven't seen that in members of other Orders, though we saw very little up to this point.
  18. Nice. That's Kalak's Order probably.
  19. Thanks. I've started transcribing the WoR reading. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Qc95BUbIFnxw4WIeu1HnmC6pu_WxjXgvfou_KY8pY40/edit?usp=sharing
  20. Okay, thank you. I honestly thought Growth would have a different name but I guess that's not going to happen.
  21. Awesome job karaokeang. So we only have one Surge and three Orders left. By the way, did Brandon confirm Light and Growth are the correct name for Surges?

    Favicon

Well, we do have one. And if I understand you right, it is the glass shard you're talking about: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/favicon.jpg Maybe try to clean your browser cache?
  23. Elantris has different magic systems, I'm afraid. Little bit of spoiler regarding that: Actually, AoL is more of a spin-off but it has an upcoming sequel called The Shadow of Self. The second trilogy will probably come after the 5th book of Stormlight Archive. No idea when the third trilogy will be.
  24. Once you read Elantris and the Alloy of Law, you'll have read all the published Cosmere books. Brandon wasn't the writer he is now when he wrote Elantris and it kinda shows but Sel is still one of my favorite worlds. It's actually the same world as the Emperor's Soul, but it takes place in a different continent and about 30 years earlier. The Alloy of Law is a Mistborn sequel. Brandon designed Mistborn as three trilogies: 1) The Final Empire, 2) 20th Century, 3) Space Opera AoL takes place between the the first and second trilogies. It's 340 years after The Hero of Ages.
