  4. The problem that I've come to find when trying to prove God's existence is that the "evidence" people try to use for - or against - his existence can easily be used by those arguing something different. I believe in God, and so while I see the wonders of creation as manifestations of His divine love and power, someone else might choose to look at those same things and think how lucky they are that the rolling dice of the universe and the mechanics of physics and evolution put such a beautiful thing in the world. Because according to the understanding of science we have, the things we see could just come about by natural processes. It's our choice whether to put a creator behind those or not. I choose to, but that's my choice. I think everyone here can agree that nature is beautiful, whether it came from a divine Creator or not. I think we should focus on that in light of disagreement. The real reason I believe in God is because of experiences I've had, and experiences I've heard from others, that can't really be explained in any other way. But the issue is that those are experiences that I've had. My personal proof of God isn't going to work to prove his existence for anyone else, not on its own. It's like tasting salt; someone can't really describe it to you; you have to have it for yourself. I do understand the reasons for not believing in a creator...and I'll be honest, if I hadn't had the experiences I'd mentioned above, my position in my faith would be far less stable, if not nonexistent. And I still have plenty of questions. But I believe that someday they'll be answered. And that peace of mind is enough for me. But yeah. I digress.

      Apparently he's actually not retiring.

This is like the fourth time he's been like "okay, I'm done now" but then he made The Boy and the Heron and now shows no signs of stopping.

Someone sneak that man a copy of that book...if Howl's Moving Castle stood out to him, so would Yumi.

...Frankly,Tress would make a really good Ghibli movie, too...

I think Tress and Yumi would both be really good adaptations, but I could see Warbreaker as something they attempt but don’t quite pull off.

Yeah. Warbreaker has a lot of elements that would fit really well, and also a lot of elements that wouldn't fit at all.

  8. Does anyone have any audiobook recommendations?

Either books that have specifically pretty good audiobooks or just books you think I should read.

  9. Hoy, I'm Bookworm's sister that isn't older, and I lost the game. :) Also, you can see your nose, you have to breath manually, you can feel your toes touching together, you're aware of your tongue, and you have to blink manually.

I'll be joining the ranks soon enough; about six months? And I promise you I'm just as crazy as everyone.

  10. Gets Inception. Inserts a god-killing sword.
  11. I finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Considering the dark tone of the rest of the book, I actually loved the ending, and found it appropriate. It's a dark, gruesome book, but has a beautiful message. I also just read Howl's Moving Castle, because I'm planning on watching the Miyazaki film soon. It was a simple book, but really fun. I can see why it's so popular. I'm going to see if I can get my hands on Red Rising and The Will of the Many to read next. I've heard good things about both those books. Though I do need to do some research first. I wanted to read Fourth Wing, but as far as I can tell there's some content in there that I don't really want to read...which is sad, because it sounded really cool.

My deacon brother and I were the only young men who showed up yesterday though, so we didn't even have an activity.

  14. "A lightsaber is a super-heated gas, I.E. a plasma, but a strange force causes it to act like a solid. The blade is virtually invincible, because it's not actually a solid, but rather a gas." - @Channelknight Fadran's first words on the Shard. As far as I can tell.
