  1. Has anyone here read Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds?

It's a little dense and confusing, but so far I'm liking it.

I'm also less than halfway through, so...

I think it's worth trying, at least.

Okay, thanks for the rec! I'll make sure to try it... *side look at TBR* someday

  2. Calev hesitated. "Yeah. ...Thanks. I think." He paused. "Though you can't have had it much better, if you've lost all your memory."
  3. Oh, this is a place? I have some photos... I forget when exactly I took these, only that I put both of them in SU's at some point.
  4. Being able to see the moon. Like, this makes me irrationally happy.
  5. This was in part because they thought the funeral was a wedding.
  6. "Um...shoved into a timeless void where nothing happens in between bouts of being surrounded by strangers and trying to figure out what's happening?"
  7. Did someone mention Dune? Someone mentioning Dune is a little thing that makes me happy.
  8. Calev hung back, listening to the conversation. I'm really confused, he thought to himself. It's like this planet keeps kicking me out at random intervals while reality itself shifts, but then won't let me leave afterwards. It should make up it's mind; does it want me gone, or does it want me to stay? He didn't say anything, but listened to see if Roy would tell the prophecy. Prophecies were interesting. Usually. Not that he had much experience with them; only a few Lightwielders had future-sight of any kind, and it almost never manifested itself as visions. @RoyalBeeMage @Edema Rue @Scars of Hathsin @Anguished_One @Doomslug Doomslug Doomslug
  9. They wanted the rainbow rocks as decoration for the service.
  10. "Yeah..." he hesitated. "I suppose we should take it with us, though."
  11. It looks wonderful. Why'd you have to ruin that wonderful pizza with pineapple? And why'd you have to ruin that wonderful pineapple with pizza? I want to eat that pizza...but the pineapple is ruining it...
  12. "Is there anything you do remember?"
  13. "I...can't remember...maybe?" Calev dove into his hazy memories. "I remember arriving on this world in a snowy area. I was running from a Monstrosity, and managed to grab onto the side of a moving train...that's when I first met you. "Then a few interactions, some fights with some strange creatures...and then nothingness, again. I remember coming to on a strange university campus...that somehow you had created, as a false reality to hide from your pain. I remember trying to help you out of that...and then nothing again. Darkness. Until I appeared here."
  14. Calev stood there for a second. "Do you not remember anything? Granted, I barely remember anything, but..."
  15. Calev met Eddie's eyes. His own eyes widened, his silver irises glinting. He dashed over to her. "Eddie!" he said, sounding desperate. "Please tell me that you know what in the flickering worlds is going on."
  16. Tinker frowned as he pulled out the jar. He stared at it for a moment. Then he yelped and dropped it in the snow. "Is....that..." @Spark of Hope
  17. 487. After you end every conversation, audibly mutter "hehe...yes...it's all going according to plan..." And then wander off chuckling to yourself evilly.
  18. Calev re-appeared from the space between worlds again. Groggy and disoriented, he looked around. Something is really wrong with this place, he thought. He wandered over to where he heard voices. @Edema Rue @RoyalBeeMage @Whoever else is over there
  19. Frowning, and somewhat wary, Tinker started to open it.
  20. "Yeah," Tinker said, crouching next to it and studying it. "We could use Verdant like we did for the last box, or maybe Zephyr. I just have to find somewhere to put it..." @Edema Rue
  21. "...Oh. Okay." Tinker walked over and cleaned the wound area slightly, then placed the bandage over the cut. "That should work, for now." He turned to the large box. "Why don't we see if we can get this open?" @Edema Rue
  22. "I thought I told you," Tinker said. "I'm not playing by their rules. If I do win, it will be on my terms. I'm not losing who I am, what I stand for, just because of the situation they've placed me in." Tinker stood there for a moment, making sure she was okay. Then he started rummaging in the camping supplies to see if there was any medical supplies. He found the small bandage. "Uh...I guess just put this on your cheek, then. I wish we had something for infection, but...this'll have to do." He handed her the small bandage.
  23. Unfortunately, by that point they were no longer children, and had thus suffered defeat.
  24. Several animal activist groups declared war on the children over this conflict.
