  1. "Ah. Yeah, I guess that would make sense..."
  2. "I don't know if that's worth chasing after," Tinker said. "It's probably long gone at this point."
  3. ...How many of you would join an RP I made based on a worldbuilding idea I had a while ago, even if I'm 80% sure it would flop?

It's based on the very little bits of Japanese mythology I know, which is next to nothing. But that's the vibe I want to go for. It's also inspired by Princess Mononoke which is now easily in my top five favorite movies. If not top three.

Basically the world is filled with spirits, and some people known as Speakers can communicate with them through flute-playing (and maybe other things). There are some people who live in the spirits' lands and live in peace with them, but there are also a couple large kingdoms that have lost their touch with the natural world.

The magic system is that humans have no access to magic themselves, so Speakers use their music to ask the spirits to help them.

*has been interested in joining an RP*

      Maybe. That sounds cool!

  4. Tinker nodded. Not that there was anything there for me anyway.
  5. I wake up a few hours later staring at the sky. "I knew I should have stayed far away from this all." I stand up and look at the sky again. "I wonder if my Shard is still out there somewhere."
  6. Tinker sat for a moment. "So...what's the plan, moving forward?"
  7. Tinker pulled out a couple of the protein bars, handed one to her. Then he opened the other and took a bite. "I haven't eaten since early yesterday...this'll be nice."
  8. I walk in and take the sandwich while you are eating dinner. "I'm about to regret this, aren't I?" I ask the universe as I stand on your front porch.
  9. "There was food in the pack, right?" Bookwyrm asked her after a second.
  10. "I think she's confused about why food keeps appearing." Calev gazed at the orchard. "Though fruit does sound good..." @RoyalBeeMage @Edema Rue @Anguished_One @Doomslug Doomslug Doomslug
  11. "That's probably a better idea. I don't want to waste any more spores than we need to." Tinker spent a few minutes gathering wood from the surrounding trees, then assembled a fire near the tent. He used the fire starter to get a flame going. "There," he said. "That should last us a few hours."
  12. "Yeah." Tinker helped Marewill the main structure of the tent up. "If you want to deal with the last few touches, I'll get a fire going," Tinker said. "It's cold enough that I think we can risk it." @Edema Rue
  13. @RoyalBeeMage "Where would we go then?" Calev looked around at his surroundings, from the vantage of the hill. "Where even are we?"
  14. Tinker nodded, then led Marewill to a clearing in the sparse forest. "This is as good a place as any," he said.
  15. Tinker started walking back towards the center of the arena. Not directly towards the casino, but farther from the rim. "There should be a forest nearby we can take temporary shelter in," he said. He walked slowly to see if Marewill would let go of his hand. Whatever she needs.
  16. "Of course." He turned back to their surroundings. "We should get moving."
  17. Not knowing what else to do, Tinker wrapped his other arm around her shoulders in a sort hug. Then he stepped back and smiled at her, letting her hold onto his hand. His thoughts seethed despite his smile, beneath the surface. Emeric... why'd you have to drive her to find hope in me? One of us is going to die, and it's going to hurt the other. But I suppose that's what you wanted, isn't it?
  18. Tinker squeezed her hand. "Hey," he said. "We made it this far. Don't worry."
  19. Tinker started at her hand for a moment, then looked at her. "What is it?" he asked, eyes concerned.
  20. Tinker hesitantly slid the spike-jar into Marewill's pack, then started scanning the area. @Edema Rue
  21. "Not if stuff like that keeps appearing." He gestured to where the eagle had dissolved. "I think we should try to find a forest or something. Some type of shelter. Maybe another cave."
  22. Calev just stared at the diner. "Where the heck did that come from...?" he said, mostly to himself.
  23. That was one of them, yes. I was staring at the moon a few minutes ago and freaking out about the fact that people have been there. Like, look how far away it is. It's a fourth the size of Earth and it looks that tiny. And people have been there. We have videos of them walking on it's surface. It...like... I can't words It's so cool
  24. Calev sighed. "I...okay." What do I say to that? From her perspective, she literally just met me... At that moment, Calev recalled a conversation he'd had with Eddie, in his first piece of time on the mysterious planet. "Eddie...can you tell me what this world is like?" "It’s beautiful, and sharp, and dangerous," she'd responded. "Most of it will try to kill you any chance it gets; there are vengeful gods, hungry beasts, and people who don’t need reasons to be cruel. But it’s also beautiful, because for every city where children are left to fend for themselves, there’s a village that holds to each other as tightly as they can. It’s like a lot of other words, in this…” Calev pulled out of the memory. Maybe she's just being a good person. Reflecting the light of this world in her actions. He smiled slightly. "Thank you."
  25. "Hm..." Where there's smoke, there's fire. "Maybe they aren't completely gone then. I guess we just have to figure out what happened to you. And hopefully that helps me figure out what's happening to me." Calev caught bits and pieces of the prophecy as Eddie talked to him. Once Roy finished, he turned to him and asked: "So...what, exactly, does this world need saving from?"
