  1. I take a fishing pole and hook the sandwich out of your hand, then reel it towards me.
  2. Lyras raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" He admitted it sounded somewhat interesting, but...it was most likely a sham. Or someone having a higher opinion of themselves than was reasonable.
  3. @InfiniteInsanity @justice_magician @The Halcyon Girl Lyras watched as the two women talked to the younger girl. The younger woman was still clearly agitated, but the older woman, despite her head wound and bandage, seemed overly determined to help the other two. Lyras smiled. They'd be fine. I wish I'd learned their names, at least...Ah well. Lyras picked up his pack, slung it on his back, then picked up his staff and turned to leave. He nearly ran into the man in the strange clothing he'd seen earlier. Lyras hesitated. "Maybe," he said. "I'm in a slight hurry, though..."
  4. I will join! My first SE. I'll join as Rylim Libran, the heir to a minor noble house in Tyrian Falls.
  5. Lyras turned to see the woman who had crashed into a flagpole earlier. "Oh! Yes, I think I do..." Lyras slung his pack off his back and put in on the ground. He opened it and began rummaging through it. The books he had tied to the sides of his pack were wrapped in simple cloth to disguise their intricate leather bondings, but they were still quite obviously books. @InfiniteInsanity As Lyras pulled out a bandage roll and handed it to the woman, he caught movement out of the corner of his eye. A young Kukonandi girl, maybe twelve or thirteen, was inching towards him in a nonchalant manner. She was clearly skilled in not drawing attention to herself. No one seemed to notice as she slipped towards him. Lyras muttered a few words under his breath, and distant starlight from worlds beyond coalesced around him and his belongings. Despite the blinding sun above, the stars were still there. Just hidden. Their light powered his magic, and his magic manipulated the light. He took that energy and formed it into a shield around his more valuable belongings. When anyone tried to steal anything that he didn't want them to, they would encounter an invisible barrier. The young girl included.
  6. Bookwyrm smiled. "You have my gift already," he said to Calano and Emma, and nodded to the rings on their fingers. Their shapes had changed to match their souls. "Symbols of your eternal bond. The rings can't go missing: they'll always find themselves back on your finger, or wherever you need it to be. They help manifest your bond in different ways, though I don't know all their effects." Bookwyrm tilted his head thoughtfully. "I'm guessing they'll come in handy."
  7. Someone held a funeral service for the revenge.
  8. Lyras blinked as the young woman darted away and into an alleyway. She briefly turned and met his eyes, then vanished. That was....random. Lyras turned to go find the road north, or perhaps a wagon to bring him part of the way, but was almost immediately stopped by a human man. "Have you seen a young woman run through here? Short brown hair, dark black eyes?" he asked. Lyras blinked. He had just seen someone matching the description. Suddenly the girl's urgency made much more sense. Lyras didn't want to lie, but his instincts told him that he should probably not tell this man anything. "I did see her," Lyras said after a short pause, "but I don't know where she went. I'm sorry." It was a partial truth. Once she had vanished into the alley, she could have gone anywhere. The man nodded and walked off with a brisk pace. Lyras stood there for a moment. Then he continued into the city. I suppose we'll meet again, if the Stars will it...
  9. Lyras jumped as a young woman with simple features came up and asked him a question. She clutched a simple pack, and wore simple clothing. She looked frantic; desperate for something. “Excuse me, sir, are you from out of town? I mean… are you maybe leaving soon? On a big ship, maybe?” She asked. Lyras hesitated. "Ah...no. I mean, yes, I am from out of town, but I just arrived." He pointed to the ship he had arrived on, a fair sized three masted cargo ship with white sails and simple features. "Sorry." @justice_magician Lyras turned and out of the corner of his eye saw a woman run right into a flagpole. His eyes widened. Not sure what that was about... Increasingly baffled, Lyras turned back towards the young woman who had asked him about a ship.
  10. @The Halcyon Girl @InfiniteInsanity Lyras stepped onto the dock and immediately drew looks. His night-sky skin and glowing eyes seemed to draw just as much attention as his deep blue robes and cloak and his ornately carved staff. He had specifically dressed and packed in a way that downplayed just how much money he had, but... Some of these people definitely weren't staring at him just because of his race. Lyras walked across the dock, his staff making the steady thump of wood on wood as he used it to prop him up. He probably didn't need it here, but there were definitely roads in the world where it would come in handy. And he hoped to travel those roads in the future. As Lyras walked away from the docs and towards the main street, he noticed a man in a curious outfit talking to a pair of human travelers. They seemed to be making excuses to leave, and Lyras could tell that the man would probably want someone new to talk to. And Lyras did not want to be that person. Not now, at least. He hurried his pace as he left the docks and began to turn on the paved cobblestone street that ran alongside them.
  11. Lyras stood at the deck of the ship, watching the sun rise. The salty sea air filled his nostrils, and a faint spray from the moving ship misted his face. The morning was chilly, but his blue traveling robes and cloak served to keep him warm. "We'll be arriving in less than an hour," Captain Trekov said as he walked up next to Lyras. He was human, and wore a simple sailor's outfit indistinguishable from his crew's; the only distinctive feature was a purple sash tied across his shoulder. Many of the people Lyras had met since he left Asteri had been wary of him: His distinctive dark blue skin with it's speckled white pinpricks and his glowing eyes had drawn attention to him. Stellari didn't travel often, so when they did, it caused a stir. Trekov and his crew had treated him kindly, and while Lyras occasionally caught them staring at him, he didn't mind. They weren't rude; simply curious, and he had been happy to answer their multitude of questions. Lyras smiled and nodded. "Thank you, captain. Your hospitality and kindness has been greatly appreciated." Trekov grunted, but Lyras could see a hint of a smile cross his gruff bearded face. "Of course. You're a paying passenger! We wouldn't treat you any different." Lyras smiled again. "Even so, you have my thanks." Trekov smiled a little more fully then. "You should probably go gather your things," he said. "We're stopping in the port town of Cavelin, where you'll take a road north to Alverton, the biggest city on this island. If you want to head to Orteo, you'll need to book another ship's passage." Lyras nodded. "Oh, and watch out for thieves. They're common on the docs, and what with your valuable traveling equipment, you'll seem ripe for the picking. Watch yourself." Lyras smiled and expressed his thanks once again, then went to his room below decks to gather his pack and equipment. He'd soon land in the Orteo Chain. And he could hardly wait to see what he would find next.
  12. Bookwyrm smiled. His work was done. That went fairly well, he thought, especially considering you've never performed a marriage before. He didn't know what Calano and Emma had prepared for festivities, so he simply waited for them to announce something.
  13. It was angry because it wanted to eat pineapples too.
  14. I play clarinet, and piano. And I occasionally mess around on the recorder and pennywhistle, and have an ocarina somewhere.
  15. @CalanoCorvus @The Wandering Wizard Their joy is infectious. Bookwyrm grins as well. Pure white light swirls around Calano and intertwines with the light around Emma. The two lights intertwine, merge, and brighten until there is no distinction between them. Blinding white light shines through the clinic, but Calano and Emma can see perfectly. "With the oath of your words, and the oath in your hearts, minds, and souls, I proclaim you husband and wife. I Bind you for eternity. Your souls will be together, until death-" Bookwyrm pulls out the two rings "-and into the eternities that await after." The rings float through the blinding light and settle on Emma's and Calano's fingers. The light swirls around them, making them glow, re-forging their simple shapes into ornate pieces of art determined by their souls. Bookwyrm didn't know what the rings would look like when the process was over, but he did know that they would be imprints of their love. He guessed they might take the shape of a Raven and a Crow. The light coalesced around the rings. The room grew dim, but a line of light between the two rings glowed brighter than ever: pure white light. A line, symbolizing the bond between them, between their now intertwined souls. The light vanished, but the bond did not. It stayed, and would do so forever. The room returned to it's normal lighting. It was done.
  16. Bookwyrm wondered who was having an italicized conversation without him.
  17. As Emma spoke these words, Bookwyrm channeled magic. Deep magic. Magic of souls and of bonds, magic that transcended eras and worlds and rested alongside the Alignment of Existence itself. Glowing white light began to circle Emma, and tendrils of it stretched towards Calano. Bookwyrm turned to Calano. "Once again, it is required that you swear an oath. Not the oath that I, or anyone else tells you to say, but rather the oath that you know in your heart, mind, and soul to be true," Bookwyrm said, repeating his earlier words. "What can you swear to your future wife, and can you testify that that oath will hold steadfast in the eternities?" @CalanoCorvus
  18. Bookwyrm opens a Wyrmhole and transports himself to his place in front of the crowd. His appearance causes a silence through the group gathered, and he waits until he has attention. A quick spell muttered under his breath amplifies his voice to spread through the room. You were just thinking about performing stories in front of crowds. This is a performance too, just a different kind. For Calano and Emma. Remember that. Bookwyrm calmed his nerves and began. "We're here today because two souls, after years of growing closer and closer, have come to the realization that their lives are meant to be intertwined. They have come to know, and love, each other with a depth that is rare and beautiful. That love has grown between them, bonded them, and unified them to a point where they have chosen to join their lives and souls in marriage. "This is not the end of their love, nor the endpoint of their journey together. Rather, it is the beginning. The beginning of an eternity." Bookwyrm turned to Emma. "The ceremony that I am performing requires you to swear an oath. Not the oath that I, or anyone else tells you to say, but rather the oath that you know in your heart, mind, and soul to be true. What can you swear to your future husband, and can you testify that that oath will hold steadfast in the eternities?" @The Wandering Wizard
  19. ...All right. I will officiate. Thank you, Calano.
