  1. The few remaining uncorrupt Tearsmiths knew that their only salvation was to leave this universe and enter another.
  2. Happy Birthday! Thanks for helping to make and keep the Shard the great place that it is, and putting up with all the crazy stuff we do. I hope you have a great day!

  3. I'm also going to vote for Shadow.
  4. ...Can I just say that it's impressive that eleven people have voted and all of them picked Microwave? Bookwyrm put the universe back to rights, making the Shadows incorporeal, then stole the sandwich. Then he froze time so no one could get to him.
  5. Okay, I see what you're saying here. And it's a fair point. I don't particularly like relying on a gut feeling for suspicions, but it kind of just...happens. I know that doesn't make sense and is not at all convincing. The reason that it seemed to me that you and Archivist were the most suspicious was because that both of you, at least in my eyes, seemed like an elim who was making a false justification for voting a villager. It was kind of flimsy. You posted here: And while it somewhat makes sense, I don't think that it's enough to justify a vote. We also know that Turtle was a villager now, and that seems like reason for suspicion. It could also be that you and Archivist had a legitimate suspicion, and just happened to vote the wrong way at the wrong time. I'm not fully discounting it as a possibility; that's why I haven't voted yet. As for Silvereye, it's the same situation. Of those voting for Stick they were the only one who tried to justify their action, but without any solid justification. And that seems like elim behavior to me. It's possible that Silver was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that the elim is someone else, but like I said, my gut is pointing me towards Silver. Also: Why are you accusing me of doing this, when here you do the exact same thing? In defending your Turtle vote when Dannex questioned you, you said: You quite literally used the same justification earlier, so you shouldn't be too baffled that someone else would use it as well. If I'm not really defending my position and am instead just re-stating what I've already said, I apologize. Sometimes it's hard to communicate exactly what I'm thinking.
  6. I will join! I'm coming to like SE. It's really fun. I will be Wylir, a scholar with an...unhealthy fascination...with the Forests of Hell.
  7. Somepeople was surprised as people baked him cookies, then sold weapons to him, then started wars with the weapons they had "sold" to him but not given to him, then screamed a bunch, then facepalmed as that one soldier tried to fight with his magical assault rifle facing the wrong way.
  8. Okay. I am primarily basing my conjectures on the vote count for the previous day. We had five votes for Turtle, and four votes for Stick, both of which we now know are villagers. I think it's likely that a good number of those voting for both of those people are elims. (A fairly obvious conclusion.) For Turtle, we had Mat, Shadow, Archivist, Xino, and Stick. The only one of these voters we've identified is Stick, and they were a villager. I went and re-read Day 2, and there was very little justification (in my opinion) for why Turtle was suspicious. Shadowblob said that Turtle only seemed to be focusing on their image, and that was something an elim would do. Archivist jumped on the bandwagon without adding any evidence of their own, simply saying they agreed with Shadow. And, as the day got closer to ending, more and more people jumped on the Turtle bandwagon without any justification (Xino, Mat, Stick). Granted, we now know that Stick was village, so there's a chance that Turtle seemed suspicious enough that other villagers were convinced as well. So I have my eye on Shadow and Archivist. For Stick, we have Wizard, Illwei, Silver, and Dannex. We now know that Wizard was an elim. The evidence given against Stick by Silver was the fact that Stick had changed votes a bunch without reasoning in a previous cycle. That seemed kind of flimsy to me. Wizard didn't provide much reasoning of his own, and we now know that they were an elim. Illwei voted Stick without much reasoning, probably based on personal suspicions and that of others. Dannex seemed the same to me. Out of these, Silver seems the most suspicious to me, based on a gut feeling as I was re-reading their posts. I'm not going to cast a vote quite yet, because I want to see what other people think and how they vote, but my main leads right now are on Shadow, Archivist, and Silver. And I've said this in the past; all of it is subject to change. I may do a read of other players later.
  9. He had to go to the old world. The world where chaos ruled and beings came and went. There was legend of a flower there that would heal all, but if he wasn't careful, the journey would surely kill him.
  10. A fish appears and steals the sandwich out of your hands before vanishing.
  11. Bookwyrm burned steel and dropped a coin, pushing off of it and flying through the air towards the conflict, blue cloak flapping behind him. He landed and sent a spell of energy from his staff, blowing back the strange creature. He looked around him. The people were normal humans, with skin tones varying from a light tan to a dark brown. There were six of them in all, and they were all dressed in sturdy traveling clothes with muted colors. Many of them wore swords or other weapons, and a two seemed to be magic users; one with a staff, the other with a wand. One of the weapon wielding ones wore a faded green mistcloak and held two obsidian daggers. That's interesting, Bookwyrm thought. "Oho!" the reptilian creature said. "A newcomer!" It looked vaguely like a crocodile, but far more bulbous and menacing. A...Gak?
  12. The sandwich is worth INFINITY$.
  13. No, not yet. We haven't reached any of the villages: Bookwyrm cut off. ...I'll contact you later. Bookwyrm turned to @InfiniteInsanity. "Something's happening over there. People are in trouble." He pointed to the top of a nearby hill, where a group of figures seemed to be in combat with a mysterious beast. "Let's go help them."
  14. So, it is official. I am attempting NaNoWriMo, which starts in a few days.

I've outlined the plot for my novel, and while I think it's kind of flimsy, I might be able to get the book actually written.

I'll post chapters on a thread occasionally, so you can follow my progress, and so I can get some constructive criticism.

UPDATE: For anyone who was going to do the daily writing prompt thing during November, we're moving it to December. We'll still do it, but I don't want it to coincide with NaNoWriMo in case people are attempting that, so they aren't stuck trying to do both. (Thanks to Wizard for that suggestion.)

I'm going to be doing a lot of writing in the future, it seems.

  15. ....Which one? I know too many, and my reaction depends on which one. WWYDIYF this in your pocket?
  16. Um. Kiss swan, marry hummingbird, kill the duck. This, this, and this.
  17. I burn atium and Lash myself towards the sandwich. I grab it and burn bendalloy, planning my next move. I drop the bubble, dodge through the Axolotl army with atium and electrum, and fly away.
  18. I meant that the part of the US that I live in is geographically boring. I've lived in some pretty cool places in the US, and have visited even cooler places. I am not ambidextrous, though that would be really cool. TPBM is within six feet of three other sharders right now.
  19. Yep. Geographically, a pretty boring place. But there are lots of cool people here. TPBM was doing homework, but got distracted and is now on the Shard.
  20. Looking back, I can see why that seems to be the case. This is going to seem like a hollow excuse, but talking (or in this case, typing) helps me process my thoughts, and I thought it best to share those thoughts and intentions on the thread. It's something that I do for me just as much for anyone else. This probably isn't convincing, but it's the truth. The reason I found it unexpected was in part because I had come to expect Kas's analyses, and because I had temporarily forgotten that the Spiked faction got to eliminate one person after every night phase. It was just kind of jarring. I do realize I'm new here, so my mannerisms are probably less like those of other people who're more experienced. And I do realize I'm leaning on the "new player" card a lot this game. I'm having fun, though so that's good! *** Rylim was somewhat disgruntled with the lack of progress in the situation. And now with food prices being raised in order to prevent a critical shortage...things weren't going well. Himself and his house would be fine; they were nobility. They had money and food. Rylim was more worried about the Skaa nearby; how would they react? How likely were they to take out their anger on him and House Libran? Rylim had suspects among the nobility of Tyrian Falls that he guessed were Spiked, or at least allied with them. Evenlyn Royale was a noble socialite that Rylim had only recently met, but there was something...off about her. He couldn't exactly explain it. Even amongst the Skaa there were suspects. Rylim had never been as invested in their lives as he was now; learning how they lived, how they thought, who was prominent among them. Rylim needed to know how the Skaa worked so that he could protect his house, but also so that he could root out the Spiked. Things were growing stressful, and the condition of Rylim's father was growing worse. Rylim hoped that he wouldn't find himself a House Lord, only to die within the next few days. And if things went wrong, he would die. Either by the hand of the Skaa in their anger, or by the hands of the Nobles who sought his power. He knew that there were many who suspected that he himself was spiked. He needed to give himself an alibi, a way to ensure them that he wasn't. If he failed, he would pay with his life. ***
