All right. I need to give an update on the conversion of my peers to Sanderson fandom.
First, my close friend. I've given SU's in the past that chronicle her reading of Mistborn. She has since finished that series, read Mistborn: Secret History, also read Warbreaker, and is now in the opening chapters of The Way of Kings.
She has also, within the last half hour or so, made an account on the Shard. So, if you'd like, give a welcome shoutout to @InfiniteInsanity!
(I think she's disappointed in me that I decided to call so much attention to her.)
On other topics:
I have a friend that, for whatever reason, was sitting near me on the bus ride back to our home high school from the focus program both of us attend. He is a nerd, very clearly, but not really about fantasy. I was bored, and I don't even know how it started, but I began ranting about Cosmere magics. I eventually gave a relatively in-depth explanation of Allomancy, including many spoilery things involving the later discovered metals, and thought nothing of it, because he was never going to read the books anyway.
He went home and conducted a very in depth personal research on the Metallic Arts.
He has now finished the first book of Mistborn and is on the second, though unfortunately, and mostly because I was careless enough to give a spoilery explanation, he knows almost all of the major plot twists because of his own online research. Still, I count it as a win. He is fascinated with the Mistborn Adventure game, and is converting some of his own friends to it because he wants to play it with them. Today I saw one of his friends (who reads at an alarming pace) holding a copy of The Final Empire today. So that's good.
I have a friend that I got to read The Way of Kings, though she doesn't have access to Words of Radiance, and brings that up angrily whenever I pester her about getting around to reading it. One of her friends has also read The Way of Kings, though I think that friend discovered it prior to me ranting about it.
I've gotten one other person to read Steelheart, and that person is currently in the middle of Firefight. There are one or two other people who have read other Sanderson books, whether because of me or for other reasons.
So yes, slowly but surely, I am converting the world around me to the epicness that is Brandon Sanderson.
