  1. My favorite end of the year post: The State of the Scadrial
  2. Sounds more like she's retreated somewhat to consolidate her power base. Or at least that's what people think.
  3. I think its possible that Autonomy/Patji wasn't as invested in FotS until the arrival of Cakoban so the wildlife might not have been quite as dangerous with the cognitive abilities developing more over time after the fact.
  4. We've seen kandra aren't quite a monolith with the trial in HoA and Paalm in SoS. I could see older Kandra might be more willing to break away from Harmony due to the weird aspect of being much older than the Vessel.
  5. I kinda like the idea of Shai from TES and the memory loss being due to a soulstamp as we see in TLM. But with kids involved I think a pre Shattering character makes more sense.
  6. We also have the line in Tress about the Kandra being released. I think that's so Brandon can have more freedom in their allegiances.
  7. The fact is that Charlie recognizes it as Iriali script. This points it me as being part of a nobles classical education on Lumar. Which then implies a level of importance within the culture. There's a WoB connecting Iriali departure from Lumar and when Xisis became a known presence. But as you said the timeline is a bit wonky due to the RoW AA mention.
  8. I dunno if either of those is a fabrial or a surge but just something living plate can do. Same with creating the hose, similar to the way Adolin's armor adapted itself to his needs.
  9. Lodestars use electronics but I'm not sure it's completely uninvested. The Moon Scepter I wouldn't call "technological" anymore than I would the Rosetta Stone. I think it just literally has carvings on it equating the various "forms" in the different Selish magic systems to their counterparts.
  10. I feel like reforming is gunna need all of the investiture back before it can be redistributed. Hmm interesting. I feel like there is too much that points to a connection currently for me to completely drop the notion. But I'll keep this in mind. I wonder if Brandon changed his mind or brain farted and was thinking Ambition or something (although there's an idea now).
  11. I believe there is the possibility for multiple populations of Iriali on different Long Trails with different sets of Seven Lands. And in the possibly that any given group is not a monolith and can have members either willingly or unluckily left behind as well as gain other people who have married in. But I don't know what any of that or what you said has to do with my previous comment.
  12. Moon scepter I think is more like an actual Rosetta Stone. It just shows the counterpart or Selish forms to Aons. I don't even think it's invested in and of itself. Lodestars seem a lot more involved. While slightly filling similar roles but on vastly different scale I don't think the two are much related at all.
  13. Until this book and making the connection with Autonomy's number I did think the Iriali could be splinters of Virtuosity, especially after Hoid's comments in WaT. But I have since shifted gears. Also we all missed the obvious no. We meet Iriali in the main narrative of IotE so clearly they have not reformed.
  14. Yeah he can feel how the Knell interacts with islands in shadesmar. This was just the closest or at least interacted the strongest with the Current.
  15. We don't know what the lifecycle is of the worms. I think they are connected to the glowing butterflies but not sure how exactly given the butterflies seem more like cognitive entities of some sort. But if so it implies some kind of shelf life.
  16. 7 sandmaster ranks (lord mastrell doesn't count per Khriss's journal), 7 denominations of their currency, Eye if Ridos pulses every 7 orbits, implied 7 colors of starmarks, 7 ranks in shu dereth (if you subscribe to that theory), 8 professions (but the Diem is kinda weird).
  17. 7 is Autonomy's number so I think the Iriali are related to Autonomy rather than Virtuosity. We also need an original builder for the Diem HQ on Taldain. Also the Iriali seeming have been traveling a long time. I'm not sure it makes sense for Virtuosity to have splintered herself that early. I think the Iriali are some weird expression on one of Autonomy's avatars. Like maybe an avatar can splinter itself?
  18. Patji's investiture is implied to move through trophic levels
  19. Yes. He has a Pathian earring.
  20. Technically "all but destroyed" means not quite destroyed. There might yet still be people on Threnody but in like an Ashyn kind of way. Although the Entities leaving the system points to it possibly being wiped clean.
  21. I know I am like 10 years late. But ch 88 after the updated text about Szeth releasing the bond and falling into the storm Nale still says "your soul cut through" and while technically true the context Nale says it with implies the original spinal severing rather than just the wrist.
  22. One thing that isn't really clear is do they specifically mean core aethers generally don't work with Malwish but individual aetherbounds can be swayed or do aetherbounds generally not but the aethers themselves might not care? Like could the aetherbound Dajer consults with be a Malwish person that got a bud? Or is it a collaborating Dhatrian?
  23. Have you read Yumi and the Nightmare Painter?
  24. Or cognitive entities that exist or bleed into the physical like Nightmares
  25. Cakoban was applying the name of something from their culture to something they newly encountered per Jope's dialogue in Dusk's vision. But I do believe that Cusicesh could be like the Dakwara as a Type 1-6 Threnodite Invested entity that got locked into shape somehow.
