I find that people that have problems with their own fathers compound it together with lirin. Not saying y’all do but I have a hard time reading lirin when I’m angry with my dad

Yelig-Nar originally being singer origin I like for the cristal coming out. we know that the unmade are related to voidbinding in some compacity so instead of looking at the surges we can look at the abilities. That is, after eating a gem the “soul” of the person seems to be used to do all 10 surges. But if you don’t control it properly it will consume the soul completely. so perhaps we are seeing a form of voidbinding that mimics surgebinding and uses a different power source. im using Renarins visions for reference as it seems they get tired after seeing them

Dalinar was a horrible dad. Only ever cared about adolin (forgetting that Renarin existed at times) and was constantly at war for his own greed to feel the thrill, missing over half of his kids life’s. So yeah, lirin wanted kaladin to follow in his path of life a bit forcefully but he is a part of his sons life’s. He never drunkenly hated them. (Like Dalinar did to Renarin right before falling apart and crying in front of him) litterally lirin is the best dad in the series. Not understanding at all times but he’s like pacifist kaladin, and we know how unlikable kaladin can be at times to the people around him.

What changed the future in oathbringer?
Rg2045 replied to Stormtide_Leviathan's topic in Cosmere Discussion
For jasnah I think it’s as you said. Renarin changed the future by accepting his death and giving jasnah permission. This reminded her that he is the same kid. The only one who understood her. Ivory even comments that they didn’t know why but it was right(funny because humans change their minds but this is shown as a strength here) -
I like the honorary h being a replacement for everything so “knights of Honor” is my definite favorite
-
Ah yes but in the SR if kaladin ascends he always would have
-
My thoughts are more inlined of kaladin possibly being the next vessel of honor. So it like calling to him sort of thing
-
My thoughts have went to two camps. 1) it doesn’t matter anymore. It was mostly how would gavilar react to a rebellion and once it was burnt down and everyone slaughtered everyone fell in line. 2) sadeas might have been the one to support it though gavilar direction. Faking not being able to surpress it though diplomacy then having Dalinar killed because he was a better warrior/ general then gavilar especially after Dalinar almost killed gavilar after the campaigns were done. A major support for this is that the alethi followed the strongest. And for all purposes Dalinar was the strongest.

Hmmm that definitely interesting. Do we have any discription of cultivations voice? Edit: what I mean is could it be honors voice? I mean honor not tanavast.

Another thing to consider is that depression is literally just being discovered. Or it might not even considering that kaladin is helping people with extreme ptsd. We know the proper treatment or at least that it’s serious. Lirin is literally just learning of it and is scared for his son. So what does he do? He pries on his sons weakness (not fulling knowing that it’s one of the worst things to do) to have him stay under his protection. as you might see I like lirin. He’s realistic. Sure he does things that hurt and on purpose, but he does it because he thinks it’s the best path. Also when he loses control of the situation he completely implodes. So yeah unpopular opinion but lirin is great.

SA 5 Also I’m pretty sure that when you’re in a war technological development is essential. Especially if you want to gain/push an edge
-
Have you read the prologue to SA5? I don’t want to spoil anything

And this was what made me question it to begin with. If it was half-shards, why haven’t we heard more on the alethi side. it’s not like when America made the nuke Russia just gave up on it. They sent spies to infiltrate and steal the information. So the question becomes why did they stop talking about it? Was it the voidspren bonding that gavilar was trying to do? Was szeth so “invisible” that two sons of honor were just talking without worries? I just feel that the half-shards were more of a diversion then the intended foreshadowing.

If you give a Reshi thief a soulcaster...

My worry would be if enough air would be in her stomach, would it cause a vacuum and collapse her insides? Might not be worth it unless she ate something non food then transformed that. -
@Returned I guess me using “the alethi” was a bit, reckless. I ment more the “sons of honor” as we know multiple members and recruities was present at the feast. and we know gavilar was holding many cards close to his chest. So when he discussed a weapon to fight their ancient enemies everyone assumes shardblades. anyways we know that nobody knows that spren are shardblades at the time. also I like the idea of the veden with the half-shards. I wonder what would happen if they put the fabrial on a sword. Or spear.
-
In tWoK prologue with szeth he mentions that the alethi are “not too far” from acquiring new shardblades. A thought followed by him commenting on the alethi warmongering and worried about the future. this of course brings up an important question. Why were the alethi confident to have new shards soon? my first thoughts was they had fanciful thoughts of new fabrials. But after O, RoW, and book 5 prologue, I think the alethi were rather talking about 1) a possible voidspren bond, 2) having the radiants return therefore the shards return with them. 3) or that gavilar was talking about a great new weapon and the alethi in their wisdom, thought it was a Treasure of shardblades.

So what crazy possible cosmer inspired technology would you like to see in era 4? personally I would like to see spiritual realm storage. (Kinda like extra dimension storage) mistborn literally everywhere due to refining the mist. bullets that move though everything due to being refined stormlight. spirit web manipulation tools. ect. what’s your thoughts? Ideas? How would it work?

So I think this depends on the context. 1v1 duel in arena adolin wins 8/10 times 1v1 on the battle field Dalinar wins 8/10 times army vs army Dalinar wins 9/10 times. politically adolin wins 6/10 times Dalinar as the WoB says is a monster. A beast that when let loose destroys those in his path and revels in it. adolin is a duelist of the highest caliber. He is heads and shoulders above even the second best, in the highest trained militaristic country in the cosmer.

Which Two KR Orders would you want to be?
Rg2045 replied to JustQuestin2004's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Bondsmith and Windrunner I feel these two don’t have any opposing oaths and both are a bit overpowered. -
This along with intent seems to be key for what “highly invested” objects do
-
Probably there to insult rayse when he couldn’t even do anything to him. but seriously, he might have gotten some voidlight from “the storm” to have part of his arsenal of powers
-
would you rather Mistborn or Feruchemist
Rg2045 replied to CosmicShard8002's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Full feruchemist is definitely better IMO at least if we are not talking about full hemalergy knowledge being put next to it. -
Would you live next to people from a certain planet?
Rg2045 replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
People are prejudice and paranoid about the smallest of things imagine giving them an actual reason to be scared. They would commit genocide of the “shades” or use them as slaves. only small pockets of people would be willing to house such dangers. And even they might be targeted by the surrounding towns. -
So we know in rythm of war that stormlight leaks faster then voidlight. Where people arnt surprised if voidlight last for months at a time. As for stormlight it can’t even last the weeping without going dun. the question becomes, why. and I think it is a two part answer. 1) gemstones, we know that more perfect gemstones hold light longer and that perfect ones hold light indefinitely, and are much more resistant to cracking and other damages. 2) rhythms, we know stormlight has an orderly rhythm, and that voidlight is chaotic but with an order to it. well the theory is that stormlight “vibrates” at just the right frequency to escape the gemstones faster then voidlight, and because voidlight is so chaotic it might be resistant to leaking to the point of lasting months in a gemstone. what’s yalls thoughts anything I missed?
