Shard blades are about to become scarier. (SP #4)
Rg2045 replied to Rg2045's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I partially contributed the “other effects” a dawnshard interfered with 1) the inability to fight of course, (seems that the oaths actually override this, that’s cool) 2) being able to use other invistagers (unsure now after RoW) 3) being able to “connect” with the planet 4) being able to “jump” across planets but still I think that adolin is moving forward with what’s ultimately better for spren but we don’t know will be better for roshar -
So I listened to secret project 4 the other day and I was shocked by how auxiliary was still able to shape shift dispite being “dead” so I started to think how this might be related to “freeing the dead eyes” that RoW set up with Adolin and shallan. And i started to connect distant dots that became scarier the more I thought about it. first: we don’t know if dead eyes can come back in a traditional sense. That being full restoration, free thinking and being able to bond those that they choose. second: the rosharian magic systems are vary powerful but are a bit limiting with the oaths that need to be spoken to access their full potential. third: BAM capture really effected the spren in ways that were not anticipated. We don’t know the repercussions for releasing BAM and if it’s an actual good thing. (We have kalaks words but common. All the haralds are crazy) forth: we know that wile a bit limiting a person with a haralds blade is really dangerous especially because of the lack of oaths binding them to their power. (Same with dead shard blade and plate) fifth: we know that shard blades (dead) are not always practical weapons. Example being when adolin killed sadeus both didn’t go for their blades because they knew it would be a disadvantage. using the above knowledge I think this is what’s going to happen. I think when BAM gets released their presents will “Zombify” the shard blades. They will become more practical honor blades ultimately. I don’t know if they’ll have access to surges but I can see a case being made for both ways. TLDR: I think that BAM release will make the (dead) shard blades now, honor blades 2.0 radiants without oaths

Thought? Could it work? Maybe? Brandon is talented enough to pull it off. Do I think he’s going that direction? Maybe? Remember the story of the queen and the moon?

There is WoB that talks about how the shard blade will change slightly the more time people spent with them so maybe records will slow down this process

Chanarach [Stormlight 5 Prologue Spoilers]
Rg2045 replied to Could Be Fire's topic in Stormlight Archive
I assumed after RoW that the glowing light in the safe was a seon. It’s mentioned as a bright light not a red(corrupted) or violet light. And with shallans familiarity with Seons in RoW I think it’s a safe bet -

Could the light be a seon? To me that seems the most likely answer, also I’m sure that the father kept looking at the safe because he put the shard blade in there. So he was always kinda threatened by her or maybe he saw the safe as a reminder of most of his problems -

I think that gavilar line that was close to the words “I need it, give it to me now” (I think I’m going off memory) is interesting because how different bondsmiths can be. An oath to unite not divide. Has many different applications. There’s multiple ways to “unite”, one is conquest. So gavilars words could have been “I will conquer the people in order to save them though the coming desolation” or other related words -
That’s good reasoning, no matter how “meta” it is

So I came up with this theory when reading WoB and he talked about the afterlife in the cosmere When he basically said that he will neither confirm nor deny the existence of one so as to not discredit his characters views. I then remembered the one chapter in The Way of Kings of the cobbler who bonded a spren and was killed by Nale. He talked about a god who allowed himself to shatter and splinter into everything to have more experiences. Perhaps the true rejoining of everyone and everything is when everything dies. Similar to the egg theory that some people believe. this would also explain why shadows in the CR go towards the “sun” instead of away. It’s being pulled to the beyond to rejoin with adonalsium also a couple of “assumptions” (or counter arguments) I Have if this theory is true. what happened to “people” when they died before the shattering? -rather nonexistence or they merged with adonalsium why would he have to “die” if the process already happened? -for more diversity. Perhaps he got bored with himself being the only “god” Wouldn’t adonalsium be a cognitive shadow? -we don’t know how adonalsium CS would work, if it’ll work how we seen them in book or if it’ll work in a different way due to how much unimaginable power they held.

When can we start posting theories using this info? -

I’m sure that he rather a) was lying and was trying to do fool gavilar into becoming a bondsmith. or B.) was trying to replace the Heralds that broke their oaths. Possibly to “mend or fix” the oathpack. So that odium didn’t have a chance to escape. By the “loophole” that everyone kept talking about. Edit: also why would the stormfather choose a king to replace a herald? Simply because that’s what the original members were kings, scholars. -

Good thing we know a certain herald that can help with that one problem -

I think this is the stormfather, the reason that he’s much more “dogmatic” or “ridged” is because of his interactions with gavalar. So he makes himself appear less flexible, and more “like a storm” to Dalinar. To have more power in their bond, so to speak. This does feel right. We have seen the stormfather do things that a “normal storm spren” wouldn’t do. Rather it be attacking kaladin in visions, to actually consider being a merciful storm. I think he is selling Dalinar short on what he (stormfather) can do. that leads to a different question tho. Can the stormfather ascend into honor? -

You know I just posted a theory how to transport storm/voidlight off world through the CR and in less then 24 hours I was semi proven right -
My thought is making the person a functional cognitive shadow. That they are so highly invested though the bond of their spren that the only way for them to die is to choose to.

Possible ways to transport stormlight off world
Rg2045 replied to Rg2045's topic in Stormlight Archive
That is definitely fair, my assumption was that the main problem was in the cognitive realm, while it would work fine in the physical realm due to how bonds work. (For example how the dead eyes follow the person that bonded their blade in the CR)- 4 replies

One issue I have noticed when people talk about Roshar going off world, rather it be radiants, stormlight or anything else highly invested, people tend to forget the gravity-like pull that the investiture feels to the planet (or system) of origin. As mentioned by Mraize in RoW when he was telling Shallan the ghostbloods purpose. So I wanted to use this to brainstorm ideas on how to possibly make this work. we know first off that we’ll need perfect gemstones to hold the stormlight. second a way to cut off the connection to roshar, to lower/negate the pull. we have two possible options. 1) as shown in oathbringer, stormlight used inside an aluminum casing is not detected so the most likely is a chest made of aluminum to resist “the pull” 2) we have seen how anti-stormlight/voidlight was made using a vacuum. could a vacuumed container also be used to possibly resist or severe the pull to roshar? maybe a combination of the two? What are your thoughts, also my first post so I’ll love to start meeting y’all.
