@MadRand, how does the Recreance fit this? The Heralds were already gone by then, and all the Radiants did was to drop their Shards, maybe sever their Nahel bonds, and walk away. No, I agree with you. I've been complaining against theories lacking in the evidence department for weeks now.

True. But a cigar on a world with no tobacco... suspicious.

That's how theories have worked around here in the past month, Windy... But now, on a side note (that oddly takes us away from the previous side note), I have to wonder whether the Honorblades look like the ones you can see in the backgrounds of the part divider pages (of the hardcover?). They look pretty distinctive and their hilts strongly resemble the glyphs symbolizing the Radiants' orders.

Aaah, magical science! We lovesss it, preciousss, yesss, we lovesss it! Let's see. For about half of your write-up I thought your theory was going to essentially be "when matter/energy transitions from the sRealm and into the pRealm, it arrives cold. Therefore, either the sRealm exists in a lower energy state (on average), or in a state of higher pressure." Having read your entire write-up, I feel like you kind of suggest this, but in a roundabout way. First, and we really need a big WARNING: MAGICAL SCIENCE sign for things like this, we don't know whether energy itself exists in all three realms. I guess it makes sense that it does (since matter is really just energy, and matter does exist in all three), but it's not something anyone has asked Peter. The reason I bring this up is because if energy (as understood by us, not by the people in the cosmere; I suspect they might attach Investiture-specific attributes to their definition of energy...) is purely a physical phenomenon, then its effects on objects in the pRealm probably won't affect the other two. If it interacts in a similar fashion with objects' aspects in all three realms, however, then I can kind of see how by the Laws of Hockus Pockus we can get a [++ physical energy] > [++ physical mass] > [++ spiritual mass] > [++ spiritual density] > [-- physical temperature] kind of reaction. I will say though, this bothers me - this essentially says that pouring more energy into a physical system actually decreases its energy by increasing its energy state. But I am also going to pull the "it's late and I am tired" card on everyone and magically dismiss any rebuttals to my words until such a time that I can fix them.

Except a cleaver won't work if your arm is in the Cognitive Realm. The truth is, we just don't know enough about fabrials really work to figure out how Davar's one broke. If it was ever functional to begin with...

LDS Influences on Themes (Theology Time)
Argent replied to The Rooster's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Truth on Jasnah's character, Gamma Fiend. Her arguments feel right - the logic, the reason, the science, the doubts, the do-not-try-to-convert-me-and-I-will-not-try-to-convert-you attitude (there really needs to be a word for this too), the willingness - desire even - to question and shake what has been accepted, not necessarily because she knows better, but because healthy skepticism is healthy. Yes, I imagine she is in many ways like me. Except hot and in possession of breasticles. Big winning points those. -
Wait, why are we assuming there is an entire organization now? Everything I've seen so far suggests that it's just Nalan Darkness and a few of his cronies. Similar to Shallash and her minions, actually. Just roaming the world, doing their thing.

We, the community, are planning some revamps to the article formats for the different Coppermind articles.

Where Adonalsium Shattered.

That's a detail that, if true, might be interesting. The only thing I know is that the Shin trade their warriors by exchanging stones - it might make sense for the stones of the Truthless to be special.
-
Yea, that's pretty much what I thought as well. Though I am no longer confident fabrials warrant their own magic system - we already know they can mimic every surge, maybe there is nothing really special about them (assuming they can imitate voids as well).

The fact that he, as the chapter narrator, remarks on the presence of monarchs and highprinces doesn't mean that there aren't other rulers there. It's particularly vexing that we don't know when Lift's interlude happens...

We believe this is how magic works - holding the Shard of, say, Preservation essentially makes you the God of Preservation. But that's the only godhood you have attained. So you can't create something that requires another Shard's power simply because you don't have access to it. That's like... Raoden using FjorDor.
-
Though not necessarily unrelated. The Dawnshards could be what "powers" the Honorblades, what makes them different from ordinary Shardblades and what binds (as in "known to bind any creature, ...") to the Oathpact.
-
Which would also make sense, considering that Darkness' companion looks like an Alethi - and for some reason I think that Jezrien does too.

Good catch.

KR Internal Conflicts and Speculation on the First Ideal
Argent replied to dionysus's topic in Stormlight Archive
True - but the word itself does not appear anywhere else in the novel. Once Kaladin thinks of the Parshendi faces as "demonic" (Ch. 53), but that's it. -
1. He is described as Azish usually - one of the chapters we see him in describes him as being Makabaki, which is a much broader racial description. Makabakam, one of the Silver Kingdoms, existed during the Heraldic Epochs, and if Nalan was from there, then it would make sense for people to mistake him for a denizen of one of the modern kingdoms Makabakam split into - Azir, for example. 4. When I first came up with the theory that the Heralds have become corrupted versions of their original selves, I was careful not to describe their new "divine attributes" as being opposites. I claimed their new signature attributes are darker, twisted, perverted versions of their original ones - not polar opposites. So Nalan, for example, has turned from a judge to an executioner; his confidence is replaced by cold indifference.

No, I see what you are saying. At least now I do. Makes sense too. -
Where would you go if you wanted to chat about stuff?

KR Internal Conflicts and Speculation on the First Ideal
Argent replied to dionysus's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am looking specifically at the word "devils." I don't see the soldiers issuing it to describe the other orders. -
Odium seems ill-fitting note. Laziness would've been more appropriate...

Fair enough. Though I don't think I've seen anyone else refer to an enemy humanoid race as "devils" -
I've grown to suspect that the Voidbringers are really "corrupted" Parshendi. Our maybe Parshmen. It's the only thing that makes sense to me (as long as we assume the two are related). Odium would only need to create a single type of spren, one that gives the Parshendi an "odiumform." then all he has to figure out is a way to make the Parshendi adopt it. A process we don't know anything about anyway. But if this is possible, then Odium could've turned Honor's most honorable people into his enemies - all in one small move.
