Reviving a dead topic: Szeth's Shardblade is an Honourblade
Argent replied to Aether's topic in Stormlight Archive
That's a good call, Nedwick - Teft, I believe, mentions Kaladin's eyes turning light in the chapter we have from Words of Radiance. That could explain some things.- 128 replies

Reviving a dead topic: Szeth's Shardblade is an Honourblade
Argent replied to Aether's topic in Stormlight Archive
We don't actually know whether Shardblades really turn a darkeyes into lighteyes - it's a legend that we have seen no confirmation for. And since Mistborn, I am skeptical of legends...- 128 replies

Again, I doubt either one of those is common. If you have a Shardblade, you will most likely want to make this fact known to the world. The amount of prestige, power, and wealth even a single Blade can grant is incredible. Shallan's situation is, I think, unique in this regard. Generally, there is no need to hide your Blade, but there are many reasons to reveal it. Losing the Blade due to the harsh environment is slightly more plausible, but not much. Short of the ocean floor, all of Roshar is accessible to people with Shardblades, so a search party will find your corpse and Blade if you get lost somewhere in the wilderness. People keep close enough track of those things, so you can be sure somebody will come after them. Crem might be an issue, but at this point we are looking at several rare events, all happening to the larger fraction of all the Shardblades in existence. A few may have been lost to similar causes, but most of them? I don't believe it.

It appears near their body.

But you have to keep in mind, Darkness doesn't see legality and law traditionally. He killed Ym because he delivered a bottle of poisoned wine, which was never intended to be consumed. That's like giving somebody a letter opener for their birthday, and then being executed because they committed suicide with said letter opener.

Somebody told me that it was confirmed that Shardspears could exist. I couldn't find anything though.

I've always liked the chapter summaries over at Encyclopaedia WoT. Informative, but not too long.

I am not sure I understand your question completely... We know there are spren in the (modern) fabrials. Navani told us so. Since we also know that the type of spren captured determines what the fabrial will do (in general terms), you could say that fabrials "use or grow" the spren's power. How direct this is, we don't know.
-
Pain fabrials - painrials, as Navani calls them - do eliminate pain. All this only means that there is an exploitable relationship between spren and their... counterparts. A flamespren could likely be used as a power source to both a "start-a-fire" fabrial and an "extinguish-a-fire" one.

Reviving a dead topic: Szeth's Shardblade is an Honourblade
Argent replied to Aether's topic in Stormlight Archive
"We shouldn't have let him keep it" doesn't play well with this. Letting someone keep something often implies that this something was either yours in the first place, or that you were in position to take the something away. Nothing in Szeth's story matches either option.- 128 replies

Reviving a dead topic: Szeth's Shardblade is an Honourblade

Szeth's Blade was given to him by the Stone Shamans, though. Or at least there is nothing that suggests otherwise and some that points in that direction.- 128 replies

Chapter 67: Words of The Way of Kings. Just before Kaladin decides to take Bridge Four back and help Dalinar's army.

Oh, I'll make sure to remind you of this when we find out that there is more to it. Don't you go forgetting just yet

Now that I think about, something like Fullmetal Alchemist or even Avatar (though I find the latter much more... childish, even in its second iteration) miiight work.

Well, I have to reply with Syl's question to Kaladin - are windspren attracted to wind, or they make it?

Your "wild speculation" might be the grandest understatement in this entire topic But in all seriousness, I think I addressed a similar problem (why doesn't Darkness come after Szeth?) some days ago. Three (well, four) possible answers come to mind: Darkness doesn't know about him. Probably not the case. Szeth is a little difficult to locate. He moves around a lot, and the only people we have seen Darkness pursue have been ones who are pretty location-locked. Darkness' twisted sense of justice doesn't make him see Szeth as guilty. He might consider Szeth absolved of all legal consequences on the account of him being a Truthless. Stone Shamanism kind of suggests that Szeth is free of guilt, those he himself doesn't believe that. Szeth's Surgebinding - if that's what he is doing - does not affect the Desolations. This is your idea, and I agree that it's possible.

LDS Influences on Themes (Theology Time)
Argent replied to The Rooster's topic in General Brandon Discussion
It's probably worth noting that the Jewish Golem is not necessarily the direct influence for the Lifeless. The idea has been adopted and adapted by many cultures, stories, and even entertainment franchises, so it's possible that it came from there. Granted, all of those can probably be traced back to Judaism, but for all we know Brandon could've been inspired by Heroes III golems. Highly unlikely, considering how well-versed Brandon is in the different cultures of the world, but I like playing the devil's advocate, working in the semantics department. -
I could see Mat conquering Seanchan. Since it won't really be conquering, it will be him helping his wife retake the throne and empire that have been snatched away from her. Rand, however, probably won't need Healing - he did perform something similar to channeling. Whether it's a ta'veren trick, his old channeling, or something entirely new (which is what I felt the scene hinted at) is something we will, unfortunately, never find out...

I wouldn't use the "he is mentioned specifically, therefore he is important" line of reasoning. Shallan's chapters, for example, are full of references to historians, scientists, and philosophers - but they exist for worldbuilding purposes, not because they will all end up being important somehow. Probably.

Ditto. Whether a system is end-neutral depends solely on the difference between the amount of Investiture going in and the amount going out. As an Allomancer or Elantrian, for example, you don't invest anything into the system - you just access the power of the respective Shard. You don't give anything of yourself, you just open a door. In Feruchemy what you take out is what you put in. But I see how BioChroma COULD be neutral... You put the Breaths in, you get their worth of Investiture out. The question here is, when you Awaken, I'd the object moved SOLELY by your Breaths or are those Breaths tapping Endowment's power as well for extra juice.

Also identified by how Kaladin's landing released just a small puff of Stormlight - something we see whenever a Windrunner has to subconsciously use Stormlight to cushion their fall. Nothing like the burst that comes after it.
