  1. I don't think Kharbranth, the Sea of Lost Lights, and those flames Shallan sees in Shadesmar are related - not directly, at least. The Sea of Lost Lights is a very substantial chunk of Shadesmar's map - about a third, actually. I don't think even Kharbranth's hospitals and culture are enough to make this one city look like a third of Roshar's cognitive representation...
  2. But the vast majority of those things could have been done as internal monologue and character conflict after the fact. You don't need to show me Tyrion's bedding mechanics with every whore in King's Landing if you want me to understand that he cares about love. In fact, I don't need any of that. The way he thinks about his first love, and to a lesser extent how he thinks about Shae and Sansa, is enough.
  3. That's kind of what I am hoping for. Having him stay like this, or even run away and join the Parshendi would be weaker, I think.
  4. Glad to have you around! You indoctrinated young (presumably?) Wies into the works of Brandon, or does she need a few more years before she can enjoy this bonding experience (of and for a lifetime) with daddy?
  5. 36 is still the plan. Keep in mind that those are core cosmere books, so things like the Wax & Wayne series or Sixth of Dusk don't count. Stormlight Archive: 10 Mistborn: 9 Dragonsteel: 7 White Sand: 3 (?) Elantris: 2 Warbreaker: 2 And I'll pretend this adds up to 36. Because it's what he said during the Chicago signing when somebody asked him.
  6. The reading from the Words of Radiance prologue reveals that Jasnah at least was not... indisposed. And I doubt her mother would be either.
  7. It was refreshing to read some Words of Radiance just for the sake of reading it - not watching every word, trying to wring the secrets of the cosmere out of it. Two things of note (other than the character development): The epigraph, it feels off. Either the timeline is off (the battle for the Tower was only a couple of days before Kaladin's chapter), or the excerpt from the journal is actually from a future viewpoint. Either way, I believe this is all because Eshonai wants to talk to Dalinar. Fat chance with that one now... Kaladin's Stormlight expelling the ink tattoo. I don't actually know how tattoos work exactly, but it sounds like Stormlight has some purification properties on top of everything else. It could probably be used as a universal antidote or something.
  8. Couple of hours early? I was about 20 minutes early for the second Chicago signing and there were only about 10 people before me. Brandon was not even there at this time.
  9. He didn't look annoyed when I spoke with him. He even stepped in for me when one of the bookstore people tried to kick me out for hanging around (to ask interesting questions) after the event was officially over. It's probably best to keep your normal question(s) for during the actual signing, and then wait until the regulars leave so you can approach him again with more interesting stuff. He usually stays for a little bit after each event to sign all of his books the store has available, and historically he has been happy to answer 17S questions while he mindlessly signs book after book.
  10. Start it off as a praise email - I am confident you can think of a thing or two to compliment Brandon on. Then just ask for whatever unfinished works he has laying around, because people on the 17S forums are mean and have a cosmere advantage over you Until recently it took about an year and a half for the team to respond. I hear things are moving faster now.
  11. I hope so. It's been about a month since we had a good chunk of questions answered, Brandon needs to be interrogated more.
  12. Team Sanderson, of course. http://brandonsanderson.com/contact/
  13. I wonder why there seem to be mountains in Shadesmar...
  14. The cards, the courting, or the assassination attempts?
  15. I actually hope Taln figures out a way to quickly convince those around him that he is speaking the truth. I find it more interesting when the characters are (mostly) aware of their dire situation and have to struggle to overcome it, in spite of the terrible odds. As opposed to the characters refusing the acknowledge the pile of cremleavings they are in, and then having to deal with it all at once because they are were too uninformed, stubborn, or stupid to take the appropriate (but by definition, not sufficient) precaution.
  16. Careful, ladies. Shallan too joked around about such things with Kabsal, and look where that took them (before the involuntary assassination attempt). Fantasy has convinced me that the more unlikely a relationship is, the more likely it is
  17. You'll have to email the S team and ask them. I received White Sand (Full) - about a thousand pages, which I just realized I haven't actually read. I think I intended to, but prioritized the other documents I received (Aether of Night, about 700 pages - which I also just realized I haven't read...; and Mistborn Prime), and then forgot about it or something... It is possible that you might consider thanking me for this - don't. It should I who thank you for making me dig the old email and find out there are about 1,500 pages of Brandon I haven't read. You can easily guess how good this feels. Maybe I should consider doing something with those Valentine cards... P.S. I don't know what team S' policy is on distributing those unpublished works, but I - or anyone else who has them - could send them to you, if that's alright.
  18. I don't even remember what Nakor's deal was...
  19. Ditto. Though I suspect it might be possible to find one by finding a girl who is a Sanderfan and giving her one of those cards.
  20. The expanses correspond to Shardworlds, Cem. @Moogle, I don't actually have anything to pick with your theory. It makes perfect sense to me.
  21. I've cited enough to know how to do it, you should know that...
  22. Some signing. That's all we know.
  23. I was under the impression that we know the Shattering (of Adonalsium) happened on Yolen.
