A couple of things: Second Ideal. Ordeal would be something completely different Only the First Ideal ("Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination") is shared between all the Orders. "I will protect those who cannot protect themselves" is the Windrunners' Second Ideal, and since Jasnah is an Elsecaller, she would have to say different words. We don't have an official confirmation that Jasnah sees a spren, but the prologue of Words of Radiance suggests that it was around the time of Gavilar's murder that she begins to see and/or interact with her spren. It's a vague suggestion though, nothing official or straightforward.

The Shardhunt. You can start it here.

Hooboy. I'll need to think about it. But a part of the reason IS because the world is more cosmere-aware. I won't attempt to answer properly on my phone though.
-
It's possible, but it's not necessarily the best explanation. I find it much more likely that Soulcasting fabrials really exist, and the ardentia really has most of them. Jasnah is, in my opinion, a fluke - the only one, or one of the few, who pretends to be using a real Soulcaster.

I downloaded a voice recording app on my smartphone. It picked his voice well enough - if he sounds normal to your ears, the recorder will pick it up.

Theories on how Odium shattered Honor and its effects
Argent replied to Arook's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think the implication here is that the more... mindless spren are missing. -
Do helium for the Seon - and maybe something to light it up from the inside. I'd say the liquid from a few glowsticks, but that will probably weigh it down too much. Also, I still think you'll be able to ask a lot more than one or two questions if you stick around until the end.

Yea, I was wondering about that too. I doubt it's Sadeas though - I think Brandon would've mentioned something (albeit briefly) about Moash looking at the highprice with hatred, or disdain, or disappointment, or something. I don't think it's something Moash would be hellbent on keeping a secret, to the point where he doesn't let his feelings even show on his face.

Perhaps we should at least pretend to care about the topic of the thread?

I believe you are thinking about the process of creating a Lifeless - the color of the corpse fuels the Awakening there. People don't lose color when they give up their Breaths - otherwise Drabs would be much easier to identify.

Figures. For the past week I've been noting interesting things in various threads, telling myself "hey, that would be a cool question for Brandon." And now I remember none of them... Let's come up with one for each world, plus a few general/realmatic ones. I've tried to make them as RAFOless as possible, but... well, who knows. Elantris: Why does the Shaod tend to take people during nighttime? Mistborn: Does Sazed automatically get to have a god metal now that he is a Shard? If so, what's its name? I'd probably be pushing my luck here, but what does it do? The Stormlight Archive: Is inhaling Stormlight a process reserved for Windrunners, or can more / all orders do it? The Rithmatist: Brandon has said that he originally planned this to be a cosmere novel. Hypothetically, if there were a Shard on this world, what would its name be? In other words, what's the overarching intent behind the magic system? Steelheart: Are people turning into Epics everywhere in the world? Warbreaker: Was Endowment's Shardholder male or female? The Wheel of Time: Brandon has said that he doesn't know what the ending of AMoL really means and signifies. What does he think it means, though? Hoid: Does Hoid know how each Shard's magic system works, or does he have to learn them every time he hops to a new world? Realmatics: It's been a while since we learned the name of a Shard. Can we get a new one, a hint of one, or some interesting information about the ones we already know about? Brandon: If he could choose an Intent / Shard, not necessarily one of the sixteen, what would he choose? You are obviously not obligated to ask any of those, but I've tried to make my selection varied enough to suit your - or anyone's - taste

Eh, that seems far-fetched. Plus, thunderclasts leave bodies. If anything, I'd treat them as golems - creatures of stone, created (possibly) through Voidbinding, given life through a form of a spren bond.
-
The only got I could think of was the threat that Gaz would join the bridge crews of he couldn't get the situation with Kaladin under control.

I... Wow. Okay. I am out of half-clever remarks.

You'll find it eventually - it me a bit of time as well

Only we don't know that Cultivation has given up (some of) her power - though it could make a certain amount of sense. She comes to Roshar with Honor and they set out to make the world habitable for humans - Cultivation's body/power, the crem, would do wonders, but she needs to deliver it throughout the entire world; enter the highstorms. Only, I don't think Cultivation could create as much crem as there seems to be without weakening herself too much. And if she is Nightwatcher, then she must retain a good chunk of her power; more than Preservation certainly.

I think this came from an offhand remark that it would be interesting of the cycle Desolations was controlled - or at least depended on - the relative orbital periods of the planets in the Greater Roshar system. So if Braize - Odium's planet - is Damnation (as I speculate), then it's possible that the Desolations occur every time it and Roshar are close to each other.

Man, you are full of confidence today On topic though, hair is weird. In some ways it's a part of the body, and it would make sense that its Cognitive aspect (if it has a separate one) would be entangled with its owner's one, but it is also dead matter. Does anyone know whether chitin is similar to nails or hair? If it is, then I'd imagine that one's hair would not be considered a separate entity (and thus will be useless for Awakening) on the account of Shardblades being unable to cut through the greatshells'... shells... while the creatures are still alive.

The similarity between the highstorms and the mists was not a major point, I was just tossing it out there, for completeness' sake. Plus, I think I was the first one to explicitly make the connection that the highstorms could be Honor's body/power, so you bet I believe that's the case*. You are not preaching to the choir, you are preaching to the preacher As for the relationship between the Stormfather and the Heralds - Jezrien is famously known as the Stormfather, and he is equally famously known as a Herald. Though I probably should've been more verbose in my original reply, saying something like: "Jezrien, a Herald of the Almighty and commonly known as the Stormfather, is probably related somehow to the highstorms, considering his title. Since he is also related to the Almighty - being his Herald and all - it makes sense that the Almighty (Honor) and the highstorms are related, though probably not directly." You can bet, but you shouldn't. Given how Brandon danced around the question, I'd say things are not as simple as saying "mists are Preservation's body, highstorms are Honor's." I am oversimplifying things up there.
-
Ah, that. Yes, well. Hmm. I guess it's a matter of how long it takes for a body part separated from the body (be it hair, blood, or arm) to get the separation memo in Shadesmar.
-
I don't think I can agree. Three reasons come to mind: Brandon said that the highstorms are similar to the mists of Preservation. The relationship highstorms - Stormfather - Heralds - Honor is too big to ignore, I think. The reason plans watered with stormwater grow stronger and bigger is because the highstorms carry a lot of nutrients. Which could be a natural explanation for Cultivation's meddling, but I am willing to bet it's just a natural explanation for a natural cause.

It sound sensible. But like a good little scientist, when I see a theory that takes a single phenomenon and makes two out of it, I want to generalize things and eliminate the exception. Unfortunately that would either devalue your theory or show that I don't know what I am talking about - neither of which is nice, though I much prefer the former I think your observation that spren associated with concrete objects seem to come from those objects is a good one. Kaladin's mother would support you in this - she tells young Kal that everything has a spren (inside); in this regard, they are like spirits of things. So it makes sense that they would walk, crawl, sprout, or otherwise appear out of their... hosts is a bad word... sources? Usually, given this information, I would try to look at the emotionspren and fit them in the already* existing hypothesis. If all spren behaved the same way (as a Unifying Theory of Spren Emergence would suggest), then emotionspren should come out of the source of their respective emotions - the humans (brief aside: have we seen emotionspren around the Parshendi?). But humans are, unless I am mistaken, already Invested - all human races are created by Shards, and Shards have to Invest living things they create; it's how creation works (I don't know this for a fact, but I think I do). And because Investitures don't play nicely with each other, not to mention that we don't even know if it's possible for the Cognitive aspects of two living things (a human and a spren, bear with my stretching of the definition) to mix. Bottom line, I don't believe emotionspren come out of stone and air because there is a special significance to stone and air. I believe they try to manifest themselves inside the source that has drawn them to the Physical Realm - the human experiencing the emotion - but they can't, because humans are alive, or because they are already Invested, or because they have a strong Cognitive presence, or for some other similar reason. So what do the emotionspren do? They appear inside the thing nearest to their source (or target), and move towards it. Air is practically everywhere, so it is no wonder that gloryspren (though why gloryspren specifically, I don't know) appear there. Stone is practically everywhere, so that's no surprise either. This would make all spren behave the same way without making the theory implausible. And that's nice. * I accidentally typed alreaxy here. It sounds kind of rad.

That's a good point. Ati was a good man (according to Hoid), so there is no good reason for him to pick up Ruin wittingly. Reyse was a douchebag, so I wouldn't be surprised if he chose Odium. We don't know anything about the rest, so it's 50/50 to me. Well, maybe not for me - I lean towards the "they didn't know what's what" theory. The only account of something similar is a spoiler from a book that's not part of TSA, and I even there I don't remember anything helpful.

I've always wondered - is it true that wild bears roam the streets of your cities, but are too polite to actually maul everyone in sight, or is that an Internet stereotype?
