  1. Ah, fresh meat. This is good, it always pleases me when we get more potential upvoters for my 5-hour long recordings of Brandon's Chicago signings. Good indeed.
  2. It's not a typical Brandon story - it's much more about the characters than it is about the setting, or the plot, or the worldbuilding (which have a much bigger focus in his longer works). This being said, it did win the Hugo award, and that's kind of a big deal. At $5, it's probably a good idea too - scale its price and page count three times and you get the length of your average fantasy novel, but above-average quality.
  3. Auri has to "feed" it, it's not everglowing.
  4. For reference: Q: Zeppelins in Era #2 I don't see other recent questions.
  5. He does post on Reddit every now and then, it's not just AMAs for him.
  6. Finally done with Unholy War, the third book in the Moontide Quartet by David Hair. Not as good as the second one - maybe around the level of the first. From here on, I think I'll do one massive Pratchett (re)read, interrupted only by new releases I am excited about.
  7. Oh, you kids. Back in my day we had to wait, on average, 18 months.
  8. I am reminded of this. I trust you can guess which line depicts Brandon's writing rate.
  9. Considering how little we know about them, it could go either way. I've been thinking of them beings that have been unmade - destroyed in some way. But that's with no proof, I think I just see the word "unmade" in this kind of context a lot more often. As opposed to, for example, unborn, which practically never means "to reverse birth"
  10. The more proper term is Shardholder(s). Shardbearers are people who wield Shardblade and/or Shardplate.
  11. Huh, I thought it was Cosmere for some reason. Still, awesome cover, and it's out soon!
  12. In part because not everyone has access to them - you'll notice that there are no forums for them either. I don't think it's a hard rule, but it's at least an unwritten one.
  13. @Nicroburst, we don't talk about the unpublished books openly. That's a good first step when infiltrating this community
  14. I try to say Szeth's name with both 's' and 'z' sounds, but it usually ends up being only 'z'. Jasnah, Jezrien, and the other J-names are essentially canon Y-sounds. Skaa I can only say as "ska" or maybe "ska-ah". Saze is like gaze to me. If Sazed is SAY-zed, then his nickname has to sound similarly, I think.
  15. The Graphic Audio narrators pronounce it more like "OH-stree" and it sounds about right. Initially I was reading it almost phonetically - "ah-UH-stree" - but that's more heritage of my native language being phonetic, I think.
  16. Oh, my. I had forgotten about this: It's probably my favorite bit, or at least one of the favorites.
  17. Not like an Alethi, but I still occasionally mutter "Light..." - a leftover from my The Wheel of Time days.
  18. Here. Somebody did ask something very similar
  19. Something very much like the attached image. I can't remember how tightly the diamonds overlap, and whether all the lines are visible (e.g. it's possible that the central diamond is "on top" of the rest), but that's pretty much what I saw. Also, holy crem, that's close to 40 pages of transcript!
  20. *despairs*
  21. Hoid is a well endowed blonde then. I can live with that.
  22. Oh, wow. That's an amazingly gorgeous Shallan - you should've shared her in the forums as well, for more visibility.
  23. I got the impression that Foxen was actually a living thing (in a jar). But that might be a testament to Pat's ability to anthropomorphize*. * Amazingly, I spelled this correctly the first time.
