  1. The logistics of a virtual signing are bound to be a pain...
  2. There was a thread in the Entertainment subforum, I think, about TV show recommendations, it's bound to have great ideas. Lots and lots of them.
  3. It's a strong line.
  4. Naaah, we go all the way. Full Newcago.
  5. Let's not worry about the "or close" part. Chicago sounds good, it has a good tactical and strategic value. In all fairness though, not much happens in Chicago, at least as far as geeky events go. We've only got a couple of annual conventions, and they are all pretty young. Until several months ago, the geek culture didn't really have a place to celebrate itself (unless you count places like the planetarium, aquarium, or the zoo) - though now we have our own glorious Geek Bar and they are doing much good. I guess I am saying that it's not an established culture here, not as much as it is in other cities. Plus, you pretty much have to schedule it between the months of May and September, or risk a random snowfall. I swear, half the year here feels like Roshar...
  6. Oookay, only one or two more updates, and I can let this thread die The Hero of Ages (1/3) came out on January 1, 2015. Get you some Spook on the CD art. Parts 2/3 and 3/3 come out on February 2 and April 1 respectively.
  7. There is also the problem that Europe is not a single country, so inter-country collaboration is much more difficult than inter-state collab. Not to mention that Brandon does, after all, live in the US.
  8. Or you could ask here
  9. I like SanderCon better than ShardCon. The former, like many other conventions, plays with the word "con" - Sanderson > Sandercon.
  10. Coast people suck. No love for Central US
  11. Kalyani and her husband both are exceptions.
  12. Hmm, I hadn't thought to check the Events section on his website. I am a little surprised I didn't get an email about an upcoming tour - though it looks like this is not really a tour.
  13. I go through at least 3 hours every time Brandon is in Chicago (once or twice per year usually), so at least you are not alone in your masochism.
  14. Thank you for the transcripts, that's a hefty amount of audio you've gone through!
  15. Vasher, hands down. I am a sucker for scholars, and he is a badass scholar on top of that.
  16. The Q&A at least works fine, I am listening to it now. It's a little difficult to hear Brandon's answers, and the questions themselves even more so, but it definitely works. It's way past midnight right now, so I am only going to try to transcribe answers potentially relevant to theories. EDIT: Okay, nothing exciting from the Q&A.
  17. Granted. You now reside in the corona of the sun, which for some magical reason is actually hotter. Don't mind me, I am not a part of the game, I just roam the world and spread science.
  18. I've been intentionally ignoring that thread, actually. I am now cautiously optimistic as well.
  19. Is your husband available for rent? Like, platonically, 'cause I am a dude who is not into dudes. But I do a mean movie announcer voice, so we just have a conversation between two announcers or something.
  20. I stopped getting excited over options. They lapse all the time.
  21. I agree on both accounts. I find it unlikely that Brandon is exploring a reduction in the level of innate Investiture, other than a feeling of it being an idea that doesn't quite fit. As for your other point, I was kind of hoping you would overlook the entire innate immune system I focused on the adaptive immune system because that's the one I thought of first, but you could easily and validly make the argument that Investiture boosts the innate one too / instead. Except then it becomes more difficult for me to argue my point
  22. My choice of words was deliberate.
  23. I don't think he has to. Once you start drilling into how the immune system works on the cellular level, there is basically a point where you have to stop and say "Okay, what determines whether this pathogen gets caught is simply how good the immune system has been at learning about it in the past, how good it is at recognizing it." Which has to do with a fun process that is essentially your cells killing off the enemy cells, dismembering them, and then putting their dismembered bodies on display. I am not kidding, this is how you build immunities. So at this point Brandon could probably just say "more innate Investiture makes it so your cells don't need to see as much of a certain pathogen to recognize it as harmful and build immunity against it" and I'll buy it.
  24. I'll be honest, I didn't think we were going to hit $30,000. Or 1,000 backers for that matter. I am incredibly happy that we did, but I had a disturbing lack of faith.
