I really don't want to sound... negative in any way, but I know I will, so I am sorry in advance. It's much easier for me to tell you this upfront and then say exactly what I want to say, than to spend a much longer period of time trying to figure out how say that thing in the most convoluted, inoffensive, and polite way possible. Asking about when we'll see Cohesion and Tension is, ultimately, a meaningless question - we'll see them when we see them. Knowing whether they will show up in SA3 or SA4 doesn't change anything in neither our knowledge nor our theories. So, if you are asking because you are curious - go ahead, I've nothing against that. But I wouldn't ask a question like this.

Calamity (The Reckoners #3) Takes Place in Atlanta
Argent replied to Argent's topic in The Reckoners
Yeah, I was thinking along similar lines. -
Depends what exactly the weakness is. It might be as simple as "spray and pray" though I personally very much doubt it.
-
Yeah, multiple stressed syllables don't work for me. In my head one of the vowels is always more stressed - in Raoden's case, it's RAY-OH-den.

Oh, definitely. Especially if more stores pick it up.

If Kicktraq's prediction holds up, we should hit the 20k stretch goal too.

Calamity (The Reckoners #3) Takes Place in Atlanta
Argent replied to Argent's topic in The Reckoners
I wonder if he'll go with a name reminiscent of Atlantis (e.g. Atlantas) instead of tucking "-lanta" after some other word. -
Cuuuved. Sooords. @Pestis the Spider, it's one of the things the guards say sometimes. Same as the infamous "arrow in the knee" comment. I don't like the UK covers for Brandon's novels. There was one I found acceptable, but I think that was it =\
-
Pfft, it's trivial. I just won't be asking anyone out...

Aye, Elantris probably has the most strict rules or specific guidelines about how names should be pronounced. Brandon had a blog on his old website about it, but if I recall correctly: Arelish names are derived from one Aon each (e.g. Raoden, Sarene, Eventeo, etc.) The first vowel of the syllable with the Aon is stressed (e.g. REI-o-den, not rei-O-den or rei-o-DEN) The Aon's vowels are pronounced as long sounds (e.g. sar-EE-nee, not sar-EEN) Pronunciation geeks, don't murder me for butchering your proper rules, please.

The logical conclusion here should've been that your colleague is a kandra.

Calamity (The Reckoners #3) Takes Place in Atlanta
Argent replied to Argent's topic in The Reckoners
Probably. Probably not -
I haven't seen this bit of information anywhere outside of my Twitter account (which seems odd, considering how quickly, easily, and nonchalantly Peter responded to my question), so I figured I'd share it here: The sequel to Steelheart and Firefight, Calamity, will take place in Atlanta. Source

Pfft. This Sanderson dude. He sucks.

Fair enough, the project is yours to direct.

Why do you think that would be the case? Lerasium-created Mistborn are much stronger than your average Final Empire Mistborn, so he or she can flare their metals for higher gain (and therefore burn through them faster than somebody with a "regular" flare), and their base advantage in strength doesn't come from their faster burn, it comes from a stronger burn - more bang for their buck, so to speak.
-
I think that's a little far-fetched. Maybe possible, but it doesn't fit in my mind. At this point I want to fall back to something with "random chance". Somebody should ask Brandon if Prof can be recover from losing a game of Russian Roulette.

David defines a High Epic as an Epic with any defensive abilities - I had to quote that just a few days ago in a different thread, the one about classification of Epics. It doesn't even have to include invincibility, let alone Prime.

Technically the Shards are still Preservation and Ruin. They just kind of interact weirdly to form Harmony.

I would like to see a little more... reportive wording for things like Power(s), Weakness, and Notes. Let's take Mitosis, for example. High Epic: I think we could use a checkbox for this, because while Prime Invincibility is one of the ways to attain this status, it is not the only one. Power(s): "Duplicating himself" > "Mitosis can create and control clones of himself." This would need more information, such as the number of clones, how vulnerable they are, how much control he has over them, and so on. Weakness: "His own music." > "Mitosis weakness is triggered when he hears the sound of his own music." Weakness Trigger (or something like that): The event which "triggered" the Epics' weakness - e.g. Sourcefield's poisoning by her grandparents (?) with Kool-Aid, or Megan's nearly burning to death. Notes: Real name, history, notable events in the past, etc. Could also split this into multiple columns if we find some of those things more notable and well known (I could see Real Name becoming its own column).

As far as we know Hoid's master, the one "our" Hoid took the name from, has been dead for a very long time. No, the pair of beggars, old and young (also note, the one you hypothesize to be Wit is actually to young) are just that - beggars. Sarene, of course, meets the right one. This being said, there is no WoB on this.

Shhh, the dialog is approaching dangerous territories. Let's talk about something else, something safer.

The Surges are supposed to work almost identically between the Ordens. Theoryland is incredibly slow for me right now, but there is a WoB that when we see the Skybreakers use Gravitation, it's going to be very similar to what the Windrunners can do with it. That's why I was careful to phrase my own reply to emphasize a difference in the process, but not the results.

Warbreaker movie casting (dream list) *spoilers*
Argent replied to BreathTaker's topic in Warbreaker
You know, I would like to see Natalie Dormer as Blushweaver. At first I pictured her as Vivenna, and while I am pretty sure she could pull it off, she would make a much better Blushweaver, I think.- 99 replies
