I don't think she was actively Surgebinding when she met him.

I seem to recall a recent WoB about how the powers of Feruchemy are internal, which makes them more difficult to detect than, say, Allomancy - where, since the power source is actually external to the Allomancer, the disturbances in the Investiture are louder.
-
There are few WoBs that support this. The bottom line is that a Seeker (or a full Allomancer) with enough strength, skill, and experience can recognize not only other magic systems, but they intricacies as well (e.g. they could differentiate between Surges).

Right, there is also that. Writing glyphs is actually more similar to writing something in Alethi using the Thaylen alphabet (which also doesn't have vowels), and then arranging and stylizing the letters to form a glyph.

Shaving is a chore. A few minutes every anywhere from a couple of days to a week doesn't sound like much, but it gets really tiresome after several months. On the other hand, once a beard - well, facial hair in general - grows more than a few millimeters, it starts to itch. Often. Not all the time, but often enough. When it gets to a little over a centimeter, or about half an inch, your mustache starts getting into your mouth, and that's a whole new level if annoying. So there are no winners in Game of Beards. You win or you shave. Beard is coming. A Lannister always shaves his head. Unbent, unbowed, unshaven. And so on, it's amazing how easy it is to adapt A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones to be all about facial hair...

We still don't understand glyphs fully =\ The samples we have access to are far too limited to extrapolate all of the "glyph letters" reliably, so while we can guess some - maybe more than half - it's usually not enough for anything interesting. Plus, there is the downside that we don't actually know Alethi (shocker!), so the Windrunner glyph will really be a glyph produced from the women's script. Which is not how glyphs work

This is the only way I can interpret his answer.

I believe it is better to err on the side of caution here. None of the people I hang out with out be offended if I used the word "gay" in a derogatory sense (e.g. "That's gay!"), but I don't do it regardless. This situation is similar in quality, though far less severe, I think.

Amazing how many things make sense in retrospect, eh? There is somebody here losing their !@#$ over Shardbearers in space, and it's the most wonderful thing I have seen all morning. It's all fun, but the relevant bit is: http://www.reddit.com/r/whowouldwin/comments/37yn6r/a_full_shardbearerstormlight_vs_a_space_marine40k/crthm7h?context=10000 http://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/crthplt?context=10000 WHY IS HE BEING TIGHT-LIPPED ABOUT CLUBS, MY CONSPIRACY SENSE IS TINGLING http://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/crthqu7?context=10000 (This one makes sense only if you look at the attached image, but it's about the Ghostbloods' symbol) http://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/crthrco?context=10000

Uh. I barely even thought about the possible implications of Rashek having children. I was mostly curious - like, genuine "oh, I wonder if" type of curiosity - when I asked about it. Now, of course, it is obvious to me that any offspring could be all sorts of interesting for the history of the Final Empire.

Finally finished Unseen Academicals. Disappointingly bad. I think I'll need to take a break from Pratchett for a bit after this...

Is it possible to become a beta reader for Sanderson?
Argent replied to dayman's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I asked, actually. Didn't get a reply, but I asked I've thought about it in the months since, and have decided that it's a terrible burden. For example, I know something about Renarin nobody else outside of Brandon's immediate circle knows (or supposed to know, at least), but I need to keep my mouth shut about it at least until SA3 comes out. It's a very itchy type of knowledge, knowing things only a few others know, and being unable to share. Yes, on one hand it's an amazing honor to beta for Brandon, but on the other... you essentially are reading spoilers. Really detailed and well-written spoilers, but spoilers nonetheless. The emotional impact of the book's reveals is diminished, and you only get to talk about it with a few other people (for a very long time). Ultimately, I don't think I would want to beta for a Stormlight book - I want those at maximum enjoyment. Another series... maybe. Once. -
I assume full blame.
-
We jump on those things very quickly. Try again when SA3 comes out

Well, I did just get this...

Source code. These days I am mostly reading source code... =\

Lightsong is definitely a contender here. So is Blushweaver, though for, ahem, entirely different reasons... Kaladin, surprisingly now that I think about it, wouldn't be as interesting to me as some of the others. I love him as a character, but he doesn't strike me as the best of conversationalists. Syl, on the other hand, would be pure gold to hang out with. Shallan would be just as fun, I think, but I fear I am letting my romantic bias enter the picture here. The winner, however, is Raoden for me. It may be because I read Elantris first, or because he is kind of a nerd, but he's always had a special place in my heart. This is all assuming Hoid is not a valid answer. If he is, then Hoid.
