  1. So, I was wondering about what counts in terms of controlling hemalurgic constructs when I stumbled over this quote. "Oversleep What does count for Hemalurgic control? The total Hemalurgic charge or number of the spikes? If we let four spikes decay for a few years and then pierce a human with it, would that person be controllable? Does that work the same for all Hemalurgic constructs? Brandon Sanderson Good question to be asking, as there are spikes that come in sets that only count as a single one... I'd say you're getting close, but not quite there." To me, I think it's the actual number of spikes themselves piercing your soul's binding points. Koloss could still be controlled after much of their charge had been lost, and Harmony could still easily talk to Waxillium with a fraction of an old, worn out Inquisitor's spike. Does my theory seem to make sense, or is it incorrect? P.S. sorry, I don't know how to put the quote in a proper quote box.
  2. I suppose one other thing you might have to worry about is if a stronger power requires more investiture to heal (i.e., a lerasium mistborn's power vs regular mistborn's power), and it might reach a point where burning your own spikes brings in too little enhancement for the amount of trouble that you go through.
  3. Thanks for finding those quotes! Hey, if I wanted to use WoB quotes it my posts in the future, how do I do that?
  4. This sounds plausible, but likely would only work temporarily. Compounding is truly amazing, but a shard of Adonalsium is just SO POWERFUL, it probably couldn't be resisted indefinitely. I also have reason to believe that compounding Identity would also make you more difficult to control, as the reason slave form parshmen could be controlled by the humans was because they lacked any Identity or Connection.
  5. True, I suppose. I meant more along the lines of that you didn't need to be a millionaire to be a candidate for purchasing Breath.
  6. Thanks so much! So I guess that you don't have to be THAT rich to afford Breath, just moderately rich.
  7. This one's pretty straightforward. Does the color that Nightblood saps from you return after given enough time?
  8. Sounds like the kind of question that I would ask I'm not sure that would work, unfortunately. Even if burning aluminum did prevent other entities from controlling you, which it might, burning any amount of it would wipe out the rest of your aluminum stores, making you vulnerable again.
  9. We know from WoB that a Lifeless can tap metalminds and can be hemalurgicly spiked if they have enough investiture. The Parshman in Stormlight completely obeyed their owners because they lacked any Connection or Identity. Sounds kind of like what Lifeless do. So if you gave a hemalurgicly charged duralumin spike to a Lifeless, would it still be a Lifeless?
  10. I actually brought this up as a side in my Metallic arts Challenge, but after thinking about it's implications, I think that it deserves a thread of its own. If someone with an allomantic ability, such as a mistborn, could remove it with a hemalurgic spike, then heal back the power (probably via unsealed gold metalmind), would burning that spike then result in them increasing their power for that ability? We know from WoB that burning a hemalurgic spike has the effect of splicing your spiritual DNA with the person whose power the spike contains, so to me this line of reasoning seems logical.
  11. In Warbreaker, I'm pretty sure that it was said that it cost enough money to feed a small family for a year to purchase a Breath, but that doesn't seem very specific. How much in real life American dollars would on Bio Chromatic breath cost?
  12. I was contemplating the applications of awakening when I thought "hey, what if you awaken a koloss? Not one of the baggy little ones, like, one of the BIG ones." Thoughts anyone? ( P.S. Would their hemalurgic spikes still work, and if so, how much extra investiture would it take to overcome the resistance?)
  13. Sorry, I was thinking that someone would want to encrypt their unsealed metalmind so that only they could tap it, then no one else could steal it and use it against you.
  14. In order for an unsealed metalmind to be usable for someone other than the creator, it needs to be Identityless. However, you can transfer investiture from one metalmind to another pretty easily, so that got me wondering: If you draw investiture from an unsealed metalmind and transfer the power to another viable piece of metal, would your own Identity then encrypt it to be usable only by you?
  15. We know that the Fused must feed on voidlight or some other kind of investiture to survive, as they are cognitive shadows. Hemalurgy can, however, steal individuals powers, and then (obviously) prevent them from continuing to use that power. So would stealing a Fuse's power to use voidbinding eventually starve them to death because they can no longer feed on voidlight?
  16. It seems as though elantrian magic has few strict limitations aside from needing to being an elantrian and knowing the correct aons to use, so this theory technically seems like it would work. I'm just not sure of any specifics. As an aside, what else could aon eto be used for potentially?
  17. So, just a quick little question for fun: What d&d (5e) classes would each main character in Stormlight be, and what level ?
  18. Actually, does holding investiture of any type grant longevity, or is it just bio-chromatic breath?
  19. I wonder how many breaths worth of investiture you'd be able to fit inside a single spike. After all, awakened swords take at least 1000 breaths to awaken, so a similarly sized piece of metal should be able to hold a similar amount I'd guess. I suppose what I'm really asking is if you could gain biological immortality with just one single nicrocil spike. Also, I just have to say, I really like this idea. I hadn't even thought of it, but it would make sense
  20. True. I also think that feruchemy is under used in terms of it's full potential. I don't know that storing speed while jogging or health while being injured allows you to store more efficiently though. These are good points. The thing is, it's pretty difficult to reach a point at which a feruchemist couldn't store more power, and thus gain more potential stores. Sneaking would definitely be a good way to handle it, but if they come to attack your rather than the other way around, I don't know that this is an effective strategy.
  21. Feruchemy. With this magic system, you can store attributes in pieces of mundane metal, then retrieve them latter, frequently increasing that attribute to absolutely insane amounts. This seems a little overpowered to me honestly (though that only makes it even more awesome); as a feruchemist, why not just store some attributes for a few hours daily, then when you get into a fight with some mistborn or fused, you can just steelrun up to them and use pewter to rip them in half?! Plus, you can regenerate, grow insanely strong, and increase your weight to that of a dump truck. If there is a good reason that a full feruchemist is not OP if they put their mind up to it (ESPESCIALLY with steel), I'd be interested in knowing.
  22. Here's a few of my own What if you were a mistborn used hemalurgy to spike one of their allomantic powers, then used an unsealed goldmind to repair the damage and regrow the power. Then, burn the spike to splice your lost spiritual DNA to your spirit web again. Could this method be used to permanently increase the power of your metals? If you were a gold misting or mistborn, could you spike your gold shadow with a duralumin spike, then give yourself the spike to overwrite your identity with another timeline's version of yourself, similar to what Forgery can do on Sel? If you could tap enough feruchemical Fortune and look directly into the spiritual ream with it, could you use that as an effective method to gain the necessary insight on creating new hemalurgic constructs?
  23. Wait, just out of curiosity, if Kaladin is almost seven feet tall in our terms, how tall is Jasnah?
