Elsecallers are considered to be the most scholarly order. They are generally chosen by inkspren because of their logic skills.

dawnshard Let's make groups of four, RoW edition
basement_boi replied to mathiau's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well, Dawnshards are primal Commands of the universe. It doesn’t make sense for one to be “Change” and one to be “Don’t Change.” -
Theory- Adonalism was convinced to kill himself
basement_boi replied to Neturo's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well, I think that the Shards all represent different pieces of humanity's emotions. Frost says this in Words of Radiance. So it sounds like Adonalsium had all of the emotions and feelings of humans. When he split, powers he used in certain emotions were assigned to those emotions. -
Maybe the original Dawnshards were some of the fundamental "things" of the magic systems. One could be a gem, one could be a metal, one could be a gas/mist/light, and one could be something to do with color?

Brandon WoB Command vs Intent [Discuss]
basement_boi replied to Child of Hodor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think if you mark it as a spoiler, it should be fine. I believe the Shard you are referencing is -
I think, as far as Dawnshard Commands go, one of them, the one referenced in Oathbringer, could be Endure or Remain. Similar to their stasis idea. That is why it would fit into bind, because you're causing something, whether the prison or the prisoner, to remain or endure in one place.

It's actually more like Allomantic Bronze. The Screamers respond to kinetic Investiture.

Invested people from Sel have really easy access to the Investiture. Elantrians can teleport virtually anywhere. The Dakhor monks could probably block Shardblades. ChayShan users could probably break Shardplate. In terms of this, Sel would dominate. HOWEVER, Roshar has the Fused. A fully replenishing, battle hungry, experienced army. Assuming the Stormfather's Bondsmith is there, they have a portable perpendicularity. They also have suppressor fabrials, literal airships, and knowledge of Anti-Investiture. If they could gain access to any Anti-Investiture, the entire battle would be swung to their side almost instantaneously. And don't forget: if Ishar is around, Sel is in BIG trouble.

Shardcast ft. Brandon (Rhythm of War and Cosmere Spoilers)
basement_boi commented on Chaos's article in Shardcast
The part about Ghostbloods and Survivorism is really interesting, never thought about those connections before. -
I think that the "we" could be Autonomy or even Mercy. If Mercy, Odium, and Ambition all fought, there are two possibilities of this fight: either it was a 3-way fight, or there were two sides to the war. If we accept the latter, I believe that Mercy had to be on Odium's side to kill Ambition. Obviously Mercy is still around, since Sazed could somewhat communicate with her. While many people believe that Odium could fight 2 Shards on his own, I believe that to be extremely unlikely due to the fact that their power levels are all exactly equal. So I think that because Mercy wasn't targeted by Odium soon after the combat with Ambition, Mercy was allied with Odium in the battle against Ambition.

If there was a Shard of Drunkeness, it’s Light would be Budlight!

Are the Ghostbloods an outgrowth of the Set?
basement_boi replied to Silverblade5's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The Ghostbloods have presumably been around for a long time. The Set had to plan for a while, with Telsin and Edward needing living in secrecy for so long. However, I think, if anything, the Set would be an outgrowth of the GBs, not the other way around. -
The failure was actually Preservation. He was willingly going against an Oath he made with Ruin. This allowed Ruin to eventually kill him in Hero of Ages.

I think Sja Anat at some point says that mistspren are just more willing to be “Enlightened.” Besides, they get to choose whether they become corrupted or not. Mistspren are just more willing to accept her propositions.

Could nightblood be made up of Raysium?
basement_boi replied to Koloss17's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Nightblood doesn’t destroy investiture: it leaks it out in the form of the black smoke. Brandon has said in a WOB that Endowement had specific involvement in Nightblood’s creation. What Brandon means with Ruins investiture involved is that matter, being created by Adonalsium, technically has investiture from all 16 shards.- 20 replies

The investiture is still Connected to the Shard in the vacuum: it’s literally a piece of the Shard. The pure tones are a physical sound, and sound moves through matter, it can’t move through a vacuum. Anti-investiture isn’t changed so that it doesn’t belong to the original Shard, it is just applied with a different tone.

The Honorblades give the powers of Radiants without the checks that oaths require. This is why Szeth was able to do so many dishonorable things with the Windrunner blade.
-
That is really interesting. How long ago do we think this happened? Was it before the Everstorm came, or was it earlier?
-
I don’t think that would be possible. Lift can’t use Stormlight, and other Radiants can’t use Lifelight. God metals have Allomantic effect as a result of the way Allomancy works, taking matter and converting it into Investiture. Surgebinding is meant to have a limited number of effects. The effects just depend on what spren you bond.
-
Progression isn’t necessarily “Cultivation’s truest surge.” The suppressor specifically suppresses Stormlight. Lift uses Lifelight. That is why she is awake. The Fused have the ability of Progression. Raboniel talks about Adhesion as if it is something that Honor completely made up.
-
I think that if you were under the effects of such a fabrial, you would use more Stormlight in the process. Kind of like duralumin. Also, the metal cage would probably be duralumin. Edit: I actually think it’s nicrosil now, that would make more sense.
-
I don’t think you would be able to take Breath without consent. Stormlight is designed to be moving, changing, always needing to be used. Breath, however, is keyed to your Identity. That is also why a Larkin presumably can’t steal Breath. Besides, Navani never uses the tones for anything but moving Investiture between gemstones, not people.
-
Well, Lerasium is a metal from Preservation, the Shard that created the Metallic Arts. He specifically designed Lerasium in such a way that it would fit with anybody to turn them into a mistborn. Besides, Atium does something in Allomancy that isn’t giving them Hemalurgic abilities, thought I’m not sure how that would work.

Could a combination of Investiture and Anti-Investiture, with a little bit of fabrial manipulation, be combined into a missile? Like, potentially with a Shard-rocket-launcher?
