  1. Did you read this in RoW by any chnace?
  2. True. I'm sure there are ways to take the topic and debate it, like benefits of doing something rather than that or something along those lines, which would be an interesting conversation, but I see what you mean.
  3. I'm not going to argue the luke point, I have stuff to do, but the point of a movie is to explain what happens in the movie. If it requires other material to make the movie work, then it fails as a movie, as the writing cannot hold on it's own and needs something to fix it. getting a back story on the cave on dagobah is something that can be in the EU. it doesn't need o be explain why the cave is magic or special. We do need to know how Luke got to the point where he might consider murdering his nephew. That is the movies fault that we didn't get more on that, so it doesn't get credit if it's expanded on.
  4. I'm... argumentative by nature. I like to debate things, it's entertaining to me, and Find it energizing/engaging. It's both gift and a curse, for a lack of better phrasing, and I've try to improve upon my instinct to discuss things. I assumed this would be a place where I could have discussions, and clearly, I was wrong. I don't plan on messaging back on any Subs I post except for an opinion on a solution to a problem they pointed out. I have taken your guys' advice and it's been in the back of my brain for the past few weeks, turning over time and time again as I wonder what I could do while keeping it intact. My arguing is partly me trying to understand the complaint and to see how valid it is in case you missed something (That one is partly do to my not typing what I'm thinking and not realizing it's not there and being confused). I don't plan on subbing this after the next one, and I don't plan on responding to your critiques any longer.
  5. Other people would argue that his gut reaction should have been to help him, not kill him. And you can't argue that they could have at least done more building up to that moment, showing this darkness in kylo, showing Luke growing concerned, something, not just saying it.
  6. Yeah. Funny thing, I realized a very nice move you can do, because I never used n=cintessa, nobody knew what my other card was, so I lied about ambassador and used to get the took. i replaced my captain rather than my contessa because you had all accepted I had a captain and wouldn't challenge, giving me the power of three cards, and that confusion helped me very late in game, giving me the power of two cards rather than one. Lying about ambassador gives you a lot of power compared t any other card.
  7. To Develop characters, which is another way of moving the plot, in a sense. You can have chapters that focus on different things, like character, world-building, that kind of stuff. It's not like it has no purpose. I challenge suggestions, but I do cave in when I see it will improve things overall. And the reason I'm defensive is that, three subs in, I get a suggestion, I decide I don't think it would be for the best, and you all start saying that I never listen to you despite me having listened to previous suggestions. I'm immediately told my character is highly unlikable and uninteresting, something none of the other people I have reading the book have said, giving me reason to pause and not just blindly listen, something you seem to expect me to do. Yes, you guys have credentials, but that isn't why I don't think your suggestions are right for what I'm doing. I consider them all equally, I don't just disregard it. Me responding means I'm not disregarding it, because then I wouldn't respond, I would just not do it. And it kinda does feel like an echo chamber. You all have decided certain things are wrong and can't be done, like how I can't start with a fairly immoral character. I plan on publishing, and I take your advice gratefully. Whether or not implement advice should be my choice, though, and It feels like you are just wanting me to blindly listen, as any time I have voiced concerns, I have been dog pilled for not listening, despite me keeping an open ear with plenty of other suggestions. I have heard your other suggestions and taken them to heart. *Sigh* Anyways, I think I'm only going to do one more sub here for this book, which does answer a lot of things that have been referenced. I've planned on working on a fantasy series, so maybe I'll sub that eventually. Perhaps that will be more to your liking.
  8. *sigh* So close. I had a Duke. You couldn't give me the courtesy of killing you, could you?
  9. I block with my Captain Just do income, it's a guaranteed coin, and I still don't know if your vulnerable to stealing (Which you actually may, I think you have an assassin, why else would one coin be so important, hmmm?) Edit: wait, you're using your card, you don't have an assassin. XD I'm an idiot.
  10. Come back onto the tread after a week and Chaos is just there. I'm imagining the meme thread as a city and at the gate Chaos just waits there staring at me while I walk by. XD Anyways, here is another one.
  11. I swear, if she's been lying about it this entire time, I'm going to laugh.
  12. That was... useless. Like, should I even block it, It doesn't matter, your dead. Plus, it means you can't challenge me. I coup @Ookla The Female Chicken You are Dead. Cards-1 Coins-1 @Whysper Well, looks like it's just us.
  13. yeah, that would be better, as that actually uses a trait that helped him turn his father, his greatest victory, and turn on its head to turn Kylo, his greatest shame. We could say that after turning Vader, he thought he could keep Kylo in the light, that it would be easy, and then realized his mistake only after all his students were dead. it would fit how his character would react to his own nephew, and really hit home why he blamed himself.
  14. Yeah, and then she's dead, because I'm definalty couping her. if she tries stealing from you, she will affect the outcome of the game.
  15. Wait, no, he admitted he thought he should kill him. He admits to Rey he saw things and for a moment thought he should kill his nephew to the point of igniting his weapon. That is more than just reflex, he contemplated that crap.
  16. I switch between the two constantly, I can never remember when typing. Your all just icons, there is nothing that helps me remember. Anyways, @Ookla The Female Chicken Your turn. Maybe try stealing from W again, perhaps she traded her ambassador finally.
  17. He doesn't know If I have a captain or duke and doesn't want to risk it, which is smart. Unlike what you just did. I block your foreign aid with my Duke. @Whysper
  18. A reflex to punch something and igniting a weapon that can slice people in half are not equivalent. That's like me saying there's no difference between getting into a fighting stance and taking out your gun and moving it off safety.
  19. Okay, so, Luke found out he was the son of Darth Vader, one of the most evil people in the galaxy. We see him, despite everything he did to him and everyone in the galaxy, try and turn Darth Vader, to make him come back to the Light. He held out hope even as he was dying by the emperor's hand. he felt it was better to try and die, hoping he could rescue Vader than to kill him. Fast forward to TLJ, we see him see the darkness and Kylo, and rather than try and talk with hi, to hold out hope and try and keep him in the light like he had with someone guilty of killing millions, he ignites his lightsaber. Did he strike, no, but If I constantly thought about killing myself and then grabbed a knife and put it against my arm, that is more than just consideration. It's out of character from what we know and the fact he thought eh could change Luke's character with less than two minutes of flashbacks of the same scene is ridiculous.
  20. Luke coming to that conclusion about the jedi isn't the bad part, it's how he got there, which was attempting to kill Kylo and getting his entire school burned down. They needed a moment where Luke wasn't luke to facilitate this. His perspective isn't that bad part, it's how he got there, and how much we don't know that lead him there. As for Snoke, killing him isn't hard route and should not be celebrated. Just because you took a different approach doesn't mean anything if you don't execute it well, and RJ did not put much effort into the story. It is confirmed from crew and cast members that he didn't do much past his first draft. You don't take a harder to write route and then don't put in the leg work. That's lazy. If he did it well, then maybe we would give him some respect, but that didn't happen.
  21. That is part becuase TLJ screwed over the next movie and they had no idea where to go. Long story short, the Hobo Luke is unrealistic with the character of luke we know, and how saved his father from the darkside but didn't try with his nephew, and Rian didn't do enough to explain how the Luke we last saw got to this point and that it just happened, and Snoke's death was just dumb, as he refused to build on the character before killing him. After those extremely 'creative' choices, i can see why Disney might have been concerned with doing anything more to piss of fans. However, Disney has the collective intelligence of a whiny baby and has no idea how to make a halfway decent story and brought on JJ, who eats creativity and shits it out as this horrifying abomination. And honestly, same goes with Disney seeing as their remaking their old successes and somehow making them worse and worse despite having a road map. But, yeah, I get why they may not have wanted TROS to have too much freedom after the last time, despite the fact it's not the creative choices that were bad, it was the execution of those ideas with zero intelligence or respect. Really wish they would decanonize the trilogy and just start over. I think most fans would like that.
  22. Acctually, I don't think that's the case. With the first movie, I think that was all JJ, the guy has no original ideas and likes to please fans, so that would be all him, not Disney. The fact Rian got to screw so much up the second shows that they weren't paying attention at the time. TROS definitely has Disney meddling, there are way too many accountants at this point, though I still blame JJ because again, the guy can't think of something with substance to save his life. Stupid mystery boxes. Mind explaining more on that? What wrong reasons?
  23. You mean how I listened to changing the second chapter? or altering Q's character? I do listen and consider, that doesn't mean I won't disagree and ask questions, especially when it looks like you might have missed something. A writer needs a level of both arrogance and humbleness, humbleness to listen to other but arrogance not to let them walk all over him and to make the final decisions for himself. I have listened to many suggestions, even those I defended against. Thank you for your help, please stop implying I'm ignoring you when there have been many examples of me caving in, plus, your the first and only post, as of yet I haven't seen if this is everyone's reaction, so yeah, I'm going to question it. Your not infallible, just like I'm not.
