    oh hey this exists! uhhhhhhh The Commune of Vandora furthers their studies into the new metal, so that maybe they can use it. (and not be the worst country in this game)

    Hyron nods, then ducks back under the net, and makes their way to the Elders Chamber. Once they enter the Chamber, they take a knee. "Most honorable Elders," They begin, "I am leaving for some time. To... explore the world. I do not know when I will return, and I am not asking for permission. I know the laws, I will not break them." Hyron rose and began to leave. "Wait, noble Hyron," One said, raising a hand. Hyron turned. "Take caution," Another said, "The world is dangerous." "And remember the 5th Verse of the Ancient Psalm;" Said yet another, "Beware the Corners of the World, for they are sharp, sharper than the cruel hearts of Men." Hyron bowed. "Of course, most gracious Elders. Thank you." Hyron then left to their dwelling, to pack a small bag for his trip.

    Calano chuckles mentally. I'm not lost, I remembered where this is, which means I remember where to go. And, if I'm right, then their house should be right... here. Calano stopped and turned to a house that stood in front of them. It was the exact same house they had escaped in the backyard of, all those years ago. Calano squeezed Emma's hand and said, "I'm nervous."

    in case no one noticed, my beloved was on the shard three hours ago.

    i was on call with her at the time and noted that I had written a cool thing. she was about to say to text it to her, then realized she could just come here and look at it, since i post everything here.

    then she logged on, had 52 notifications (most of them you guys tagging her in my SUs), wandered around the community forum before reading the thing and telling me it was cool.

I will venture into the world. But first, I will tell my people, and my Elders." Hyron turned back to the stranger. "Trust me," Hyron said softly, "They will not listen to you."

    Hyron narrowed their eyes. Hyron did not respond. Hyron opened their mouth, then closed it again. "How many know of our existence? How will my appearance be taken, out there in the world?"

My people know this better than anybody. Do you why we seclude ourselves here, in the forests of Juun?" Hyron stepped up to Miyako. "It is because long ago, we did explore the world. Vast amounts of it. Our people were wanderers. And then the world saw us. And they called us freaks. Savages! Our people were chased away, banished to these forests. We have lived here, in peace, and solitude, avoiding the world, because we know what happens when the world sees something it doesn't know. "It attacks it."

    Calano squeezes Emma's hands. "They're alive," Calano whispers, "I know they are." They continue walking down the street, then Calano sees something. He stops, looks around puzzled, then takes a sudden left down another street.

    Hyron dashed forward, grabbing Miyako by the throat before she even had a chance to react. "Clearly," Hyron said softly, in a low tone, "You don't know much about the world. The world is dangerous, and arrogant, and violent. Like you." They tightened their grip. "I wouldn't make assumptions about my people if I were you. We are a proud people. We have built into the river, a firm foundation that stretches far down into the silt and rock." Hyron released her. "This is not your conversation. This is not your fight."

    The guards nod, uncrossing their spears. "You may enter." Calano takes Emma's hand and walks into the neighborhood. Children who were playing on the street stopped, watching the strangers in the black coat and bright clothing. Some of the younger ones saw them holding hands, then pantomimed barfing. They all then giggled, a cheery sound, and ran off again. Calano chuckled softly. "Ah, kids."

    Hyron glared at her, but did not respond. The turned to the floating stranger. "No one will be interested."

    Hyron glowered at both of them. "I'm afraid you're both mistaken," Hyron said, "We are not trying to prevent you leaving. We are trying to make you leave. The net," They said, gesturing, "Protects one of our sacred domains. We do not wish to join your organization," Hyron said to the stranger, "And we do not wish to assist you in your hunt," Hyron said to the human they'd been fighting.
