Would a SK be a more… favorable kill to people? Not saying I know of an SK, it’s just a theory at this point.

Is this a bad time to suggest you switch factions? :P. Probably the CoC So idk where the natural point to go off of here is, this is normally where I’d try to bravely lead the village into the darkness but a.) I’m not village and b.) I have little to no reason to care about the result of the exe. And I have more info then I probably should so leading an exe wouldn’t feel… right, somehow. Royals. Who’s a Royal?

Finally thought of something worth using my pass on! MR##: Shadow Hunters This is based off my favorite board game, one that you sadly can't buy anymore due to Z-man Games discontinuing its production. (Unless, that is, you don't mind spending 200+ dollars on e-bay). The board game itself is social deduction so I thought it'd fit quite nicely into SE! As it turns out, it's... pretty complex but I think it works. As it stands a lot of the mechanics are mirrored from the board game mechanics, and ideally I'd change as little as possible from what I have written out now. The most flexible things for me are the hard percentage numbers, but I'm open to any suggestions as always. The win conditions and most of the mechanics I think are well balanced seeing as they actually exist in a product, but some things might have to be changed for a forum adaptation. The most helpful critiquer would be someone who's played the actual board game, but I don't expect anyone here to have and it certianly isn't necessary to play it. Even if it would make critiquing and playing it alike easier. The Clarifications section needs expanding. Help with that I haven't got to the point of adding in the White/Black/Hermit item lists yet (Which will be links to separate google docs so this one doesn't grow exponentially) but a list of the corresponding cards can be found here. I don't think knowing the lists are essential for reviewing the game or even playing it, since again the mechanics have been proven. But they'll be there eventually, hopefully within 48 hours of this post. EDIT: Lists are in! The rulebook for the actual board game can be found here.

Or: You’re an Infiltrator, an elim, and that’s why he’s going to kill you. In this case it lines up with wincons but I legitimately worry about what would happen if it didn’t. Exercise caution when your primary motive is revenge. Probably won’t vote this round.

Technically I don’t know that we have no contradictory wincons with other factions but that is my working assumption. One of the reasons I think this works is that it allows us to mess with any other faction or align with any other faction, which is a pretty fun dynamic Some level of unpredictability is good, and that’s us! :D. (But seriously, I won’t just like aimlessly float around in thread, I’ll find alliances [accepting applications from all factions; PM me] and play the game, don’t worry :P.) I tend to claim if I don’t see another way out of a bad situation regardless of alignment, but the examples I specifically cited there where lies to cover up being an elim or otherwise. The Vin one was a multi elim faction game where I claimed the village power role in an extremely complicated fashion, hoping to draw out the real Vin before I died. It wasn’t really intended to save me. Unfortunately my lengthy explanation was found to have flaws and Vin never claimed, and that was that. The QF was fairly recent, and I really shouldn’t have gotten away with what I did. I was RBd submitting the elim kill and somehow convinced the thread to kill the RBer (using a lot of made-up and rather confusing explanations that slid past everyone) but then somehow didn’t die the next turn, due to more on-the-spot made-up explanations. I bet that game would be entertaining to read knowing I’m evil :P. It was the QF before the most recent one, ran by TUN. But this one I actually got away with. The Honorblade LG was forever ago, and I was a neutral role who had to collect a specific item to win. This one I didn’t lie about alignment, just was very vague about my role and lied about the intentions behind my actions. I convinced people to do things I wanted them to do in PMs, that sort of thing. I won in this game as well. The point of bringing this up was to basically say that e!me or whatever you think I am in the case that I’m lying wouldn’t make something up as simple as I did. It’s not in character for me at all I think most people are past the point of assuming my faction is hostile, but I can’t really do anything about people who think I’m just hiding one small thing. Idk if this was useful but it was fun to write about old games either way

I was going to comment that a Revolutionary isn’t a bad kill but that’s rather subjective and it doesn’t really make a difference to me so never mind :P. It’s good for the Doves and Hawks I guess :P. I guess Ash miscounted because I definitely thought that Sart was ahead

Guess I vote Elan here? I’m also indifferent to the exe, besides the part about me being in it. Feel kinda bad but what else is there for me to do Sart can detect me tonight if he wants. Idk if he could find infiltrators though, is he a role detector or a faction detector? Infiltrators are both and I wonder if a Hawk Infiltrators would show up as a Hawk or an Infiltrator Kas, you make some good points about why that wouldn’t be the CoC wincon— I still maintain that my faction makes sense with this game. Even if it doesn’t, I’m not lying :P.

I don't remember Warbreaker well enough, but I did theorize that the CoC's wincon was to kill all of the Returned. That'd solve Kas' issue with my faction seemingly having no opposition, and probably is thematically accurate. And probably paints a target on my back :P. Edit: Can't find Cult of Colors anywhere on the Coppermind, but maybe I'm just bad at searching lol

@Kasimir- you're not wrong. There isn't really a whole lot of incentive to interact, beyond finding a Returned and then chilling. But as you can see I've found a way anyway As can anyone else I've PMd. I'm not about to chill in the background just because I can. And if you have an issue with the wincon seeming too simple, ask the game designer, I guess? :P. But actually don't, because the semi-involved neutral is like my favorite roles to play in games like this. More so than straight evil. So you can bet that I'll stay involved, keep PMing, probably try to kill infiltrators, and work for my wincon. I like my wincon. It lets me chill. You should be able to appreciate that (This isn't me accusing you, just trying to show that it doesn't need to be complicated.) Plus, if the Cult of Color wincon is indeed the opposite of mine like we've theorized, that makes more sense, doesn't it? It certainly doesn't have to be though. But the reasoning of 'it's too simple' is annoying because there's nothing really I can say other than '...no?' and you said it yourself, you don't have the whole picture. It's hard to claim a secret role in general because either people say it's too complicated, or they say it's too simple. All that is probably too much of an explanation for someone who isn't voting me, but that's fine with me. I like my faction and the simplicity of the wincon. It'll allow me to play all sides if I choose, just chill in the background if I choose. Do whatever. I'm not a very productive kill right now. If, like, I suddenly side with the infiltrators down the road then I get why you would want to kill me, but right now? Nah. Plus, if you think I'm smart enough in my Warbreaker to knowledge to create a simple and thematically accurate wincon, you'd be dead wrong Sart.

…what xD I think that if someone counterclaimed me and then ended up dead, I’d be next. Doesn’t seem like a reach to me when I’m already under fire. When have I ever fake claimed something simple Take my Vin claim, TUN’s QF, Ash’s honorblade LG— none of those were remotely simple. Cause it’s more fun to make it complicated

So I get a real Follower to claim, and my faction kills them. It’s then just a 1-1 trade between me and them because they’re not going to have another claim and I’ll get exed for lying. That wouldn’t be a good idea for lying!me. I’d work in PMs, not the thread. Besides, fake claiming an entire faction D1 would basically guarantee that I’d reveal the lie myself eventually. Pulling off a big lie for an entire game is very, very hard. The option that I’m telling the truth is the simplest and the correct one.

I prefer Sart over xino but I’m inclined to vote where the most votes are to have the best chance of survival. If someone else votes Sart then I will as well. Edit: Forgot Stick was voting me. Don’t want to create a 2-2-2 tie though

Why would I claim a faction I’m not in? That’s asking to be exed. And it’s all well and good of you think I’m an Infiltrator but surely there’s better reasoning for someone besides me trying to start discussion.

I think it was a contribution crusade, which obviously doesn't work anymore. I don't really care who's killed at this point as long as it isn't me, my teammate, or a Returned.
