There's definitely something going on in Cultivation's plan that we don't know about yet. We still don't know why she created Lift, for one thing.

Wind and Truth Full Book Reactions (Cosmere Edition)
Nitpicking replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If you're outraged because someone didn't like a book as much as you did .... I'm curious, how did my text get translated into Spanish in your quote of me? -
I assumed that the Foreverstorm doesn't extend across the oceans at all. I might be contradicted by the text, to be honest. I am not motivated to check, the ending by and large was exhausting rather than thrilling for me. (Exception: Adolin's storyline.)

Yes. There are lots of ex-deadeyes who were not Forgotten, like (for one) the spren who became Oathbringer. Can they now join the Unoathed? If not, why not? Not saying Brandon doesn't have an answer, just wondering.

Wind and Truth Full Book Reactions (Cosmere Edition)
Nitpicking replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I realized yesterday that the only lore I really cared about was canonizing Dragonsteel Prime, at least the Jerick plot. All the future Cosmere implications, the name of the last Shard ... I was just bored with it. I think Brandon has spent so many words (a million?) on it without telling the story that'll come in out in 20 years, I can't focus on it any more. It's like reading a poorly-written RPG supplement (for me), just a list of names and places and snippets of history. -
Battar is with the other 9 Heralds in the vision/on Braize. Doesn't she work for Taravangian now? Couldn't Odium just lean in and corrupt this vision at will?
-
I can argue that this is normal. Everyone has a spiritual, cognitive, and physical component in the Cosmere. Spren can apparently cross over at will now. The Unoathed Blade and Plate spren just decided to become physical. So did Notum. (Somewhere, Ishar is thinking, "Wait, now an Honorspren can just go to the Physical Realm, keep his mind, and affect physical objects? Did I waste all those years?")
-
Notum crossed over, too. Apparently it's easier now that Honor and Cultivation left.

The text says there is Voidlight everywhere ruled by Retribution. The new Foreverstorm gives Light, just as its predecessor the Highstorm did.

It's worth mentioning that Shinovar is now ruled by Retribution, and thus full of Voidlight. If Szeth can learn to trap Voidlight in spheres, he'll be able to use any Surge. Note also: Progression is one such Surge. Nightblood, once it wakes up, should be able to heal Szeth using Voidlight.

"Just wait til I get to the Grand Apparatus..."

Do we know Invention made it? What if Adonalsium did that, Futuresight revealing to it/him/her/them that it would be needed? -
I have no memory of any such thing, but that proves nothing.

Where is Towerlight coming from? We read at the end of WaT that Towerlight is still available at Urithuru, but ... it's made of half Stormlight and half Lifelight. Cultivation still exists, so her child might still be able to draw on her to create Towerlight, but Honor is now part of Retribution. Where is the Sibling getting Stormlight from to make Towerlight? Are they making it directly? Would that not imply they have a direct channel to the Spiritual Realm, the source of Investiture? Could someone escape from the Tower via the Spiritual Realm, even if the Cognitive is blocked? For that matter, where are the Heralds getting the Stormlight they apparently have?
-
My guess is that her extra Investiture comes from the Stormfather, who was Splintered by Odium after Dalinar broke his oaths. Syl probably had the strongest Connection to the Stormfather, after Dalinar broke their bond.

Wind and Truth Full Book Reactions (Cosmere Edition)

Want to hear some negative opinions? (Maybe not!) Watch/listen to the Wind & Truth Reactions 2 podcast from the admins of this very site. Shannon and Ene in particular have ... things to say. Many things. Said passionately. Recommended. -
Syl is a Splinter of Honor. I think those new Splinters will be new characters in the back half.

Wind and Truth Full Book Reactions (Cosmere Edition)

Is anyone else afraid that Brandon will read this topic? Because, based on White Sand, if he decides this book is substandard, he'll just insist on writing another version, maybe three other versions .... -
Presumably Endowment, who is kind of a jerk, is lying.

I am hoping that the Heralds don't Return until Book 8 or later. Mostly, I am very tired of Kaladin and need him to go away and let the other characters take the stage for a while.

I agree with @VirtuousTraveller that I'd have been glad to wait longer for a book that was properly edited. I'm distressed that they're cutting Tor editorial out of the process, because those people are very good and they would have most certainly improved this book. I don't think Brandon is selling out. I think he has more power than is good in this context. Some writers can self-publish and produce good stuff. Some ... just cannot. I'm worried. And yes, self-publish. This would seem to be a Dragonsteel production that outsourced promotion and printing to Tor, not a Tor book.

7 Surges Of Both, 1 of Cultivation, 1 of Honor.
Nitpicking replied to Macro's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Speculation elsewhere in this forum mentions that of the Adonalsium megaspren on Roshar, one was the Wind, and one was apparently the Trees. Honor and Cultivation seemingly each picked one to become the model for their heirspren. -
I just ran across this quote in another topic. Notice that Syl goes TO ALL CAPITAL LETTERS SPEECH. The only other person to make that transition that I can remember was Dalinar, when he was about to Connect Kaladin to the Beyond (or Beyond-adjacent). It's a sign that someone will become a god, I think.
