    "Ah, well... I was curious." Zodiac tossed the core away. "And I did collect it from you, though it seems you don't need it. I figured that might be the case. Tell me, Puppet - what exactly have you chosen to mimic?"

    "Oh, goodness. That would take way too long. I mean... you're like a body double, right? Does that mean you know your own chemical structure?" They were holding Second's core now - it was a strange mixture of old heart tissue, dark red metal, seeping oil, gleaming blue vapors... it dripped down across their hand like an ooze. When Zodiac had collected it was unclear. "Well, I do. I'd be fine without a core for a little while, but I dunno about you. Did you know that without exposure to energy, organic tissue will cannibalize itself in a chaotic frenzy for survival? All corpses become cancerous, before the tumors die off as well, unable to maintain their shape... and thus the cycle continues. Sometimes bacteria or amoebae or fungus will conquer the remaining energy supply for a time, but sooner or later the body is gone." There was an odd twinkle in their eye. Probably because Penn had doodled it there. "Yours happens to be quite demanding."

    A day may come when we forget we lost our touch

    but now we're tired, and turns out that we don't care that much

    because the world spins ever on with every day

    it carries onward without giving us a chance to say we

     

    should've done more when we had the time

    we don't really have a chance now that that's all behind us

    it's bad

    so why can't we look back at the things we did

    and say that we were glad?

     

    Then was a time that was far too long ago

    a distant place, a foreign race, whether above or if below

    If you've forgotten how it felt then I can get that just as well

    our day is over.

    It's the end of class now, dismissed by the bell to go and

     

    take our next exams about what things we learned from then

    Just to memorize the facts what happened where and when except

    that doesn't help us much 'cause our brains don't think of the certainty of truth

    our memories are about the things we felt way back then in our youth

     

    No one ever said that we had to pay

    any heed to the things that they want to say

    to us about the things that we forgot

    over all the years

    because what's so wrong with forgetting your old tears and fears?

     

    If we're gone it only means that we were just there once before

    to have a memory is to admit that you can't do it anymore

    So instead we sit down in our chair

    and take the time to watch and stare

    into the eyes of our old minds and see, from there

    what old thoughts we can find.

    "That's a little concerning." Should I take over? ..."A little concerning." Awww, c'mon. I'm so b o o o o r e d Man, give it a break. You've only been here for... what, three weeks? ...Oh, great. "Oh. Great." Zodiac's arm reached out into a twisted vine, wrapping about the doppleganger and squeezing its innards out in a burst of purple goop. "And yes; you've only been here three weeks. Get used to it."

    Weirdly enough, Zodiac didn't have any double. Well... weird for everyone else. Zodiac was okay with this.
